@new knee in June
Hi @Diana Just arriving home and so nice to receive your post and thanks. I think your ways of feeling calm are right on the button. I cannot believe that I let the pt meeting and pt at our house get me down. I promised myself and my surgeon promised me that we will not let the aggressive pt happen this time around. I had a talk to myself today and after the meeting said to my husband why am I even thinking of the pt they are not doing my surgery, not counting on them during my surgery so what is the problem. I talk to myself once and a while this way and have decided the pt is the least of the things.
I met with the anesthesiologist today and feel so much more at ease. How could I have let the pt make me feel less then excited and told her yesterday that if I am not happy with the way she treats me she will not be back. Explained that I have been through aggressive pt people and not again.
I like the man that will be doing this for my surgery . He explained what he was going to give me for putting me out for surgery asked what they did for me last time around and explained a few things that were not mentioned last time. He asked if I felt anything during surgery and was I comfortable during the hours after leaving recovery room. He explained that they would be giving a needle in my upper thigh and this would help to keep things frozen no pain. He also told me that he would give me a cocktail of medications to keep an eye on me as well. He said he knew I had a replacement before this and so I would be having the same things this time. He checked my spine and said everything was good for surgery and everything looks good to go.
Why worry about the pt as I have the best surgeon really like him, now meeting the anesthesiologist feel very confident about him to very caring. I was told at pre-op that I should bring my pills and insulin with me on the day of surgery. I asked him I I should do this and he told me no they would have everything at the hospital in medications that I would not need to bring any of my own . I did not take my own medications with me last time for surgery so thought it might be good to check with him as he knows.
He said not to bring anything but myself and what I would be wearing and any toiletries needed and that is all that I need to worry about. I told him that I knew I was in good hands as the last surgery received the best care and treated with such kindness. He said my heart is good all tests came back with great results. Checked to see what the specialist my husband goes to and I went to for pre-op told me about medications to take before surgery night before and in the morning . I told him just pills taken at supper and my insulin before bed just needing to take less insulin on that night. He agreed with what the specialist said so no medications needed to be taken on the morning of surgery .
I was so pleased to see the lady that took care of me last time. I first met Janet when going to my Moms pre-op appointments before my Moms replacement surgeries and she has kept in touch with me keeping an eye to make sure iron levels are strong. She has just come back from Seattle she went there to help with her daughter during the delivery of her baby and she is the Blood Co-ordinator missed her at my pre-op so really happy to see her today and she said all of my tests came back really good. I like her she is one of those people who takes time to spend a few minutes to talk and told me she had a new little grandson and such a nice lady. Very relaxed and everything in the hospital for their pre-op today seemed to be running so much smoother and flowing along so much less stressful.
Feeling great , no more appointments till surgery day. My husband has plans for us to go to see a few movies this week before I am not getting out as much . Excited and so looking forward to them. Feeling very calm like I had felt before that meeting, looking forward to me surgery feeling excited to be this close to the day . Knowing I can get a good night sleep tonight. How great this feeling is back to feeling like me again. Are you all set for Christmas. We think we have everything all ready here. Now just a few more days met a few nice people today in the hallway sitting waiting for my appointment and hoping that one of these nice people may be sharing a room with me. Holly
