Revision TKR JennyLynne's "full" disclosure

awww your little boy is so cute. glad you have some help now that your hubby is back to work. hope you'll feel better soon. natural black liquorice helped me with the bathroom issues when the others (Senokot) were too harsh. it's taken me 4 weeks to feel closer to normal (still weak though and tire easily after being on my feet too long). walking helps ~ my new knee feels solid. best wishes to you ~ i know how hard it is to be patient.

Glad you're on top of it. You know, us mamas gotta take care of each other, right?

Meanwhile.. my dad is a veteran of both knees and hips, and he's one of those who was back at work a week or two later. He called this morning and I said my pain had gotten a little worse. "Oh that doesn't make sense! You should be feeling much better! It's been almost a week!!"
Gee dad, thanks.

I try to avoid talking to anyone who has had replacements (other than here). Their memories seem to be very short and most likely quite clouded.

And by the way, my dad says the exact same thing. Still hurting huh???? Ugh. And then there is my husband who has two perfect knees telling me where he thinks I should be at this point :bored:

I'm kinda tired of everyones opinions on knee surgery (outside of here). It's frustrating. I read the BS guidelines and feel like a rock star for what I'm Accomplishing. Then I talk to people who all know someone who was back at work at 1, 2, 3 weeks, running marathons a month after bilateral TKR, driving them selves home from the surgery center and I feel like I'm being judged as milking this recovery.

(Ok, I may have exaggerated a few of those examples...)

Seriously! My PT was cancelled for today (not my doing) and my husband is freaking out.
I haven't felt great and I've slept most of the day and he's reading me the riot act. Omg, I don't feel good. I slept. It's ok!!!

You made the right decision, Jennylynne. You need rest more than you need PT today.

Seriously! My PT was cancelled for today (not my doing) and my husband is flipping out.
This recovery takes a full year. Missing a day of PT here or there isn't going to make a scrap of difference.
In any case, it's so early in your recovery that PT isn't necessary at all yet.

Thanks for backing me up. He thinks if I don't attack my exercises, I won't get better. I went through this with him last time, and I thought I wouldn't have to again. He's a competitive athlete and looks at PT as something I should "win". Ugh, so frustrating!

Maybe you should have him watch a video of a knee replacement surgery. :elevate:

Reading about the time you're having, I'm glad I'm not married! I missed all of pt and it hasn't harmed my recovery one bit! My crying spells weren't because of pain from a therapist, they were emotional tears.

I so understand where you are! I felt awful yesterday and slept as well..I did feel better for it! We can only do what our bodies and emotions will allow...hang in there!

Was thinking about asking for a zofran scrip. Any side effects or reason people don't take it?

You could ask for zofran or a scopolamine patch.

I love Zofran. I only needed it for a couple days, but it really helped my nausea. I was scared to take it bc it cane be constipation and I was already struggling with that and teg narcotics, but it helped so much. My DR have it to me before surgery to have on hand just in case.
