Yesterday was the first day that I really felt noticeably better. I'm moving more easily.

Even though I'm using a walker, I'm starting to be able to walk with the good foot going in front of the bad, not just catching up. Also able to space out the percoset a bit more, which has pretty much eliminated the nausea.

I remember 2 years ago with my first surgery, Memorial Day weekend was a real low for me. I cried a lot, a total pity party for being stuck here while everyone was out having fun. I'm hoping it won't happen this time, since I'm more conscious of the big picture now. (Still cry at every shower tho... it's just so humiliating of an experience, I can't help it.)

It's hard when everyone else is out living life and we're stuck in a chair watching tv. Whenever I missed a family shower and wedding my dad stayed with me just to keep me company. It was such a great day with him, just watching hockey and eating a sandwich, but I think of that day often. We have to find the positives where ever we can.
 
@KarriB that's so sweet of your father! Wish mine didn't live far away, because he loves nothing more than laying around and watching a movie! (Tho if he was here this weekend, he'd probably want to golf with my husband!)

It is hard to be left at home when the rest of your family is out, but this is only a temporary stage. Soon, you'll be able to go out with them. Hang in there for now, knowing that there is an end to this.
 
I came downstairs to hang out a little while ago. I've been hanging upstairs because we have house renovations going on and the stairs were covered and dangerous for me.

Anyway... I settled in on a big chair with pillows, and my husband went out to mow.

A minute later, in walk 2 little boys who live across the street to play with my son. Within 5 min, the floor is covered with legos and matchbox cars. The mom is not answering her phone, nor is my husband. I'm just sitting there, trapped, hoping I don't have to actually PARENT in any way. It was the longest 20 min I've had in a long time!!

Back upstairs in my safe little nest. Ahhh, peace.

Those darn Legos! Those are a hazard for anyone! It's amazing how many we find hiding after the grandkids leave. I am glad you are safe in your nest!

Dumb me... I was standing with my walker, swinging my leg a bit to loosen up my hip... and I smashed my knee into the bar of the walker. Oooooowwwwwweeeee!!!!! It's been stinging for hours. I've had ice on it but can't seem to get it to quiet down. What a clumsy goof!

Ouch! Hope you are okay.

I'm sorry but I have to admit I laughed a little about you being held hostage by the legos. I was held hostage by a stuck recliner last month. Never thought toys and chairs would hold us hostage!

Oh no, I hope your knee is OK. Do you have any pain meds left? Now, would be a time to take one. Your knee is angry now and wants some tlc.
 
@mechellec it may as well been a floor of hot lava... that's how scary it looked![emoji23]

@sistersinhim I'm not even 2 weeks out- I have plenty of meds and just popped one! My knee is angry for sure.

I'm glad you took one. I remember a lady on her a few months back that was scooting up to a desk and banged her new knee on the sharp edge of it. She said almost passed out. Jenny, don't do anything for the rest of the day and tonight. And stay on the meds until it calms down.
These things can happen so fast. Please, please be careful! Have you seen any bleeding?
 
No bleeding. I still have staples which I think added to the pain. Percoset has taken the edge off. I had slowly been spacing out the pills more but not tonight - going back to 3-4 hour intervals.
In bed, elevated with my ice machine going like a good Bonesmartie.

The first time I used my recliner after a TKR, I got stuck. I had to be rescued.
 
Oh yeah, the staples probably did add to the pain. You should be getting those out soon. That will be a huge relief! No more pulling every time you move. That was one of my favorite times in this recovery.
I'm glad it not bleeding. At least you didn't bust it.
 
I wondered about recliners... everyone is so keen on them, and all I could think was how I'd get stuck!! They are so low!

I have power recliners. One day while I was in it our power went out. Luckily it came back on a few minutes later. My husband was just starting to try and figure out how to get me out! I do love my power recliners though. We also have a regular one in another room and I haven't even attempted to try it.
 
Legos! I remember stepping on a stray one in the middle of the night when my kids where young!

My recliner has a motor that raises my legs and leans it back. I remember being home by myself a couple of weeks post op. I hit the motor to put the legs down and the back of the chair in the normal position. Somehow one of my dogs knocked the block out. I was able to almost climb out the side of the recliner to get the plug back if. I felt like a turtle on my back! I learned to use a power strip so I could easily check to make sure it was working before I sat in it.

I hope your knee calms down after hitting it. Just keep doing what your doing. I hit my other knee about 6 months post op on the corner of a desk. I waited for the extreme pain but other then a dull hurt and a little swelling I was fine.

I bought a power recliner, too, that I used for about 3 months. Then I went back to my regular one. I was always afraid I'd get a cat caught under it when lowing it. I would bang on it with my hands to make any of them come out of there. They did good, and I had no mishaps with the kitties. My power one has a battery back up in case of power failures.
