Revision TKR JennyLynne's "full" disclosure

I've needed Zofran after both my knee replacements, because all narcotics make me vomit. I couldn't have managed without it.

My husband is picking up Zofran right now! Also, they are starting me on Celebrex. I have some intense localized pain that they think is from inflammation. I've never taken Celebrex but I guess it's common after TKR?

Good PT today and a nurse visit. Incision looks good, swelling is down just a touch. Looking forward to the zofran!

I took Celebrex and an aspirin twice a day for 30 days after my surgery.

Zofran made me thirsty, so be sure to have something to drink close by. I've never had Celebrex, but I do take Diclofenac, which is an anti-inflammatory, too. It helps to keep the swelling down and those aches and pains that can pop up in other areas that are arthritis prone are eased off. I am taking a good probiotic to protect my tummy. You might want to read up on those if you don't take them already. Anti-inflammatories can be bad on stomachs.

Well... my insurance covered a whopping 9 zofran pills. What the what??!!
And the Celebrex isn't covered at all.... pharmacy has call into my doc to fill out some special paperwork to submit to insurance.
So frustrating!!!!!

What a shame. It makes so sense. I bet the doctors hate it, too. They used to be in control of treatments. Now, the insurance companies are. Hopefully, your doctor will get things straight for you.

How many does it say to take a day? Can't imagine why they'd only cover 9 pills!

@KarriB my insurance covers 3 days- 1 pill every 8 hours. Ridiculous!
The pharmacist said I can call my doctor for a refill in 3 days. Such a hassle

I had to take Zofran twice a day and I had no problem getting a month's supply at a time. I'm sorry you're having problems getting it.

The Zofran chronicles continues... I took one of my precious 9 pills this morning. Thirty minutes later, I started feeling dizzy and could barely move for the next 2 hours. Feeling better now. Coincidence or zofran? Anyone ever had a reaction to it?

Hmm, zofran is my jam. It worked so well when I've had a GI virus and helped during the few worst days f my post TKR nausea. Sorry it's not working for you.

I took the Zofran with the Oxy, so I don't know which one made me feel dizzy. But, I was! If that's the only different thing this morning, then it just might be the Zofran.

Bummer! At least I am tolerating the other meds better. Eating more and more regularly has helped.

In better news, I'm loving my PT. She massages my leg, does some stretches, and repeats over and over again, which really loosens me up. Then I walk a bit with her to work on my gait. I was worried about the daily visits, but it's really nice. today I was finally able to sit on the edge of the bed with my leg dangling off. For me, that's big progress!

I remember that leg dangling off the bed. It felt so good! You are really making good progress!

good for you doing so well with physio and enjoying it. if you find the Zofran doesn't work or makes you feel dizzy, perhaps ask for something else. it didn't work at all for me when i went through chemo 10 yrs. ago; the pharmacist gave me something else that did work. good you're eating better too; that should help with the nausea.

If you're not handling the zofran you can try the scopolamine patch. Many use it for sea sickness as well. Newlybionic used it for a cruise and post surgery nausea.

@KarriB is that a prescription? My PT said even some Dramamine may help.

I was loathe to say anything but I was given zofran IV in the hospital and could immediately taste it going in and that seemed to make me nauseous as well. I didn't like it but did have a scopolamine patch which helped. I do think you need a prescription for it but may be able to get Dramamine over the counter...but not positive....
