Hi,
@Mojo333 and
@Layla, thanks for checking in! It's been almost too quiet with my niece and my rambunctious nephew gone - dealing with a bit of empty nest syndrome, I guess. I realize just how much I miss my niece whenever we part (I helped raise her and she lived with me for a good part of her childhood, so she is, for all intents and purposes, "my kid" - certainly, according to her

). The hardest part was when my great-nephew started crying at hearing they were going home to ATL - he kept insisting that "Tia's IS home!" (he calls me Tia - none of us have any idea where that came from, as none of us speak Spanish as first language).
Anyways, I'm back to work (remotely, of course), and it's been keeping me busy (and distracted... and from ruminating...

); and I'm getting around well, although I haven't gone outdoors yet - saving that for my trip to the doctor on Thursday (walking the hallways of my apartment building has been more than enough for now - I feel as though I lost a week on the healing curve with last week's "glitch").
The wound vac is... fascinating. The biggest reminder of its presence is actually the pack, which I wear on a cord around my neck, and the random suction noise I'll hear from time to time as it maintains the seal; but I'll be really glad to get it off on Thursday - my skin dislikes the bandage-y part, which is similar to (or perhaps is) a Tegaderm transparent film cover. From what I've read, the thing will shut down automatically after seven days, so it'll be just in time for my ortho visit.
I feel as though I'm back on track; even with work, I'm trying to rest as much as possible (I find that I'm still knocking out and sleeping deeply - a blessing for this little insomniac

). My eating sucks (haven't had all that much of an appetite, maybe in part because of the antibiotics), so I need to focus on healthy eating for healing. But, all in all, I think I'm in good shape.
Hope all's well with all my fellow Hippies!
