Hi, everyone, I was actually able to log in on my phone today, so giving an update (a long one, so fasten your seat belts!!!

).
After my previous post, I called my OS' office and was referred to the on-call OS, who told me to come in. My niece had changed my dressing three times in about five hours before we left for the doc, so I was more than ready to go.
We got to the office earlier than my appointment time (NYC traffic is unpredictable at the best of times) & my niece dropped me off; I got to the check-in desk and immediately felt that now-familiar trickle (luckily, I'd brought a couple of paper towels with me to stave off leaving TOO much mess.
I will say, they rushed me to an exam room immediately. Yay....?
The doc examined me and said he was going to put a portable wound-vac on it, although he expressed concern at how much I was leaking (my word, not his

). He suggested I walk around the streets a bit before heading home & if I found the pad filling too rapidly, I should head right to the orthopedic hospital immediate care unit.
By the time I got in the car (no walking but out of the office to the elevator then out to the street), the pad was fully-colored with "stuff". So off to immediate care we went.
They took blood, then x-rays (the hips are positioned well, btw). Then I was informed that the attending (the same on-call for my reg'r OS) wanted me to stay overnight. More tests, an EKG and x-rays (& a lot of waiting); getting my incision covered with an industrial wound-vac; & I was whisked upstairs to my room.
And here I lie today, having already been told that I will be here overnight (&, possibly, through Thursday & Friday). They're watching my vitals (which have stayed pretty great), cultures (to see what, if any, infection I might have - they're also giving me broad-spectrum antibiotics) & the wound-vac (which is staying empty - a very good sign, according to my nurse; & which, I've been told, should help the incision seal/heal properly).
Despite everything that led to my being here, I'm in good spirits. Although I have, admittedly, had some crying moments, I'm doing my darnedest not to let fear dominate. Having an amazing support system (my niece has already put her job on notice that she might have to extend her trip & friends are reaching out to see what I might need), & consistently awesome hospital staff has helped heaps on that front.
That, and knowing that great Bonesmarties have my back.
Yuppers, I am blessed!!!
