I am so sore but grateful I had the surgery

Is the area red, hot or inflamed?
 
Itchy is good - always a sign of healing

Scab is good - means the incision is healing over.. That will come off on it's own
 
Try a bit of ice on the area Rich. Ichy means things are healing. The swelling is very normal post-op.

Red and inflammed migh mean infection - but not always. Only a doctor could verify this. But your case sounds like norm healing.
 
Yeah my incision area is definitely not anything near infected its coming along very well i dont know what i'd do at this point if infection set in seeing how well its been doing !!!
 
I drove my car for the first time today since before the surgery without permission from my surgeon and now im paying the price,my operated hip is throbbing and achey , i wish i wasn,t so stubborn but obviously i can't change what i've done but honestly it felt good to drive but everytime i applied the brake i could feel it in my quad and my calf muscle and of course in my hip, i hate the part of me that is so bent on doing what he wants even though i was told by my surgeon " Mr Cooper DO NOT drive your car until you see me on june 11th" i looked him in the eye and told him i would'nt yet i did and now im extremely sore, im like a little kid told by his dad dont touch that tommy and i touch it anyway,i hope to god i did'nt do anything to my hip i'm going to regret.
 
No, it won't hurt your hip, not the metal parts, anyway! But you are paying for it! Not to worry, it will settle down in time. Just think that everything you do for a while has a bit of a price to pay, that's all.
 
Wheww - of all the people to reply to my post im so grateful it was you Jo, thank you so so much for putting me at ease,it really makes a difference, how are you doing these days i havent seen you on here..!!
 
Rich, Jo had internet connection problems, so wasn't able to post.

I agree with Jo, you have to try and rest and just do the exercises you were given... time enough to go joy riding buddy... hehehehe!
 
I know but i couldn't resist but honestly i should have just listened to my sister in law who told me not to get behind the wheel yet now i learned my lesson for sure, i certainly won't do that again at least until my surgeon gives je the go ahead to drive otherwise im staying away from my car..!!

Depends what time we leave and what time we get back... probably not though. It is a very tiring trip across tricky mountain road that had a major landslide just a couple of weeks ago... so we are a little apprehensive.

Hi Rich, we all did things we were not supposed to do post-op. Driving is a major milestone but sometimes those muscles just aren't up to it yet. Patience - I know it's hard. Rest and ice - meds if you need them. And wait just a wee bit longer to try again.
 
It seems i alwagys learn the hard way no matter what i do Jaycey ,its so so frustrating who knows maybe its not meant to be for me to be driving per usual whatever i'm babbling now.
 
Rich, you will drive again as usual. It's just a bit early in your recovery.

I'll let you in on a little secret :secretaea: - I drove to my 6 week followup appointment. Of course I should not have as I was not officially released to drive. But I was off my meds and feeling quite strong. Plus I don't have clutch to push. A few more weeks Rich. You are doing great!
 
I'm so itching to drive again that i'll take any chance i can get at this point but i see your point, i actually bought a car cover because my car was getting filthy in my driveway so i figured since i'm not driving it why not wash it and keep it covered afterall it doesn't make any sense to let it get filthy and wash it every week when i can keep'it covered and be done with it.
