Hey navy boy :)

How did you go with the problem you PM'd me about? Did you see the Doc?

Don't you worry hon, you post, we come chat, you are not forgotten :)

It is our last day on of our vacation, but with building a house it is mostly physical work.... Oh, these aching muscles. One needs to be a mountain goat to get around our block... Given my muscles a severe work out that's for sure.

Jo' s Internet is off line at the moment and there has been some of us on vacation, but should be back to normal.

How you going with your little cause?

Just going out to get brekkie, will be back shortly.. Take care hon :)

It's official i have gout and im on medication for it ,i just have to wait for it to come in the mail,i forgot the name of the med, i just hope to god i dont ever get another flare up becaus as i said its brutally painful, for the moment i'm taking aleve which seems to be really helping me BIG TIME, time will tell.

Sorry about the gout Rich. Yes, that is a painful condition. Hopefully, though the new medication will keep it from flaring up. Did the Doc give you any advice about foods to avoid?

Yes i have to avoid red meat, seafood, soda, there's a fair amount of food i have to avoid i can do it though, i do eat an awful lot of red meat, the reading i did on it, the causes that is, is surgery can cause it and i just had major surgery, oh well such is life, i will do everything in my power to keep it at bay , lord knows i dont need anymore attacks theyre to panful, WAY TO PAINFUL, enough to think your foot is going to explode.Thank you so much for concern and asking about it Sandy, youre an angel.

Oh good advice about the food to avoid. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my brother suffered it and he cut out red wine and red meat... mainly the red meat and he improved no end. If you can remove the foods the doc has indicated, and with the meds you will no doubt keep it at bay..

Im a pretty darn good patient, doctors like me because i do what im told i figure they get paid to give medical advice and i get paid in others ways to as im told, my pay is i get better.

Thanks for asking Rich....

Well it is not really a vacation as we are constructing our house ourselves - yes! ourselves... it is our retirement house - very big - on a very steep block with land around it - lots of challenges - lots still to do - need to be a mountain goat to walk around the land.. We won't get it finished before retirement in just over two years, still too much to do... but that is ok.. and in the meantime I have to have my other hip done and given I had a very close brush with death twice with the first hip - obviously neither hubby or I are very keen to go through it too soon... but hips as you know have a way of saying - fix me now!

We head back to civilisation tomorrow and back to work, both of which are extremely stressful for both of us - not looking forward to it....

We try to mix up the work and a bit of R&R when here, but more work than fun really. I am not much help to hubby and given he had his second heart attack last year, I am always very worried about him..

such is life - we just get on with it and do our best...

Thanks again for asking after me :)

Oh Sandy i am SO SORRY about your husband having had those heart attacks, thats awful, you know what i cant understand why bad, terrible things happen to good people its so not fare, but as easy as it is to say " such is life " its not fare , but its also true and i really believe that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, much stronger, good thing are gonna happen to you and hubby in this life Sandy i truly believe this, as sure as the sun rises in the east ,it will be soon, you watch, maybe that goat, not gout..lol will be there to help you wih your retirment home, dont you worry sweetie you'll be able to have your hip done only this time around there will be NO COMPLICTIONS that i know as sure as i know my own name because you've been through enough in this life...PERIOD !!!!

thanks Rich, that is very sweet of you :)

You're very welcome, thats the least i can do for you, if i was there with you i could try and help you afterall i am still only a month out of surgery but i would make myserlf very useful indeed, how is your your husband doing now is he better, how old is your husband if you dont mind my asking,..?? He sounds like a fighter though ..is he ??

He is Ex Special Forces... that tells most of his story...

Age, we keep to ourselves, except to say we are not spring chickens... haha!

I knew he was special forces you told me that a while ago, god bless him good for him, thats so awesome clearly he fell back on his training from being in the military, tell him i was in the military but NOT special forces just the fact he had two brushes with death and survived shows his character and inner strength, i bet you're so proud of him i know i am and i dont know him at all, like i had mentioned before i hate when bad things happen to great people , he's a trooper .Of course having you around how can he not be a special guy.

Thanks Rich :)

I thought i,d share with you about my childhood, it wasn't pretty, actually ugly and extremely painful, i learned real young to fend for myself and to speak only when spoken to, im still that little boy 43 yrs later and i have moments whe the fear as a little boy it still happy haunts me to my core, i've learned that you need to fight for what you believe in in and sometimes thats not easy, my point is, i tend to lose sight of hoe great my life id and even though i know this i still manage to forget the good in my life and unfortunately until i realized that no one likes a victim i decided to change and my life almost overnight changed,i have afew people to thank for this and although theyre no longer part of my life i think about them often, anyway thats a small part of me who used to play the system with comeplete disregard to whom i would hurt.

This surgery has really opened my eyes to so much in such a short time tat im surprised i am actually aware of it becase it happened so fast, i am so grateful i had this surgery because it was making me miserable the longer i waited to have it done, April 10th was a miracle because i didnt think i'd make it through surgery, this overwhelming fear of dying and not making it to the recovery room, thank god i made it and the rest is history, i was a happy guy when i woke up in recovery, surgery wasnt bad at all and the pain wasn,t eitheri thought i would wake up in agony, surprise, anyway i am going to end here and say thank you for taking the time in reading this, i know there are alot of other posts tat could have been read.

Thanks for sharing your story Rich..

Just remember the past is the past and we really only have today because tomorrow isn't here...

The main thing is to remember the past is history, it is not who you are now...

You have choices now, choices to be happy, choices to be angry or sad... They are yours.. No one else's
xx

Believe it or not my past doesn't effect me like it used to , i worked on it and did the trauma work with a therapist and moved on with my life and this was recently, as early as last summer i woke up one day last summer and said " im done with that part of my life its not gonna own me anymore " and that was it, just like that and i never looked back, afterall i didnt need to as i have been in therapy for the last 14 years, it felt right, it was the right thing to do and nothing was going to stop me, i knew within my heart that it was time to forgive my abusers( forgive them for me and not accept what tey did to me but only forgive them so i could move on with my life) because i knew if i didnt they would coninue to run my life, essentally own me and i wasnt going to be owned as an adult like i was throughout my childhood, those days were over and i knew that.

Life today is awesome considering what i went through as a kid, i wish it on NO ONE no kid should go through what i did, but i went through it and survived and was able to move on and have pretty successful life and meet and marry an amazing woman who loves me for the man i am and does not judge me for my past and its nice because i still exhibit those behaviors as a kid as an adult but she reminds me thats not me anymore i dont have to be afraid of anyone or anything because im a good man who has a big heart and loves unconditionlly and you know what shes so right and very intuitive thats why i love her with all my heart and soul, how can i not love my wife she is so suppotive ALWAYS, its nice knowing you always have someone in your corner who will b there for you no matter what, im so not used to that, i am slowly but surely getting used to it though because shes consistent and with me thats critical to prove yourself and re- build trust that was destroyed as a kid.

My scar where the incision is so itchy and unbelievably filled with scabs, is this normal, the incision area does'nt look good at all its also still swollen around the scar, is this all a normal part of the process..?
