I have not stopped by for a while. Glad to see you doing so well. Your attitude seemed to change so much. You seem so much more calm and happy. Good for you. You seemed to have got into the recovery groove quite nicely and also seem to be making good progress. Onward and upward to yo -cathy

navyvet92, so glad things are going well. But please be careful with doing things and don't forget to watch what your taking. You don't want to play catch up or get into taking the wrong medicane at the wrong time. good to see that you are also getting out. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:friends:

Amen about the NSAIDs.
[Bonesmart.org] I am so sore but grateful I had the surgery
NOT good for people on blood thinners or for people who need good bone growth/healing.

Otherwise, Rich - I am so delighted to see that panicky edge gone out of your posts! Well done you.

Im doing pretty good lately until tonight i am having the crying fits again, i dont mind crying but i dont understand why this is, it doesnt take much to make me cry anyway , i went through this same situation a few weeks ago and im going through it all over again....WhY...????

By the way i am getting so tired of laying on my back, its uncomfortable and annoying...!!!

Hi Navy

Yes, the blues come and go for some time for most of us.. Go with the flow, it will pass, it is just a matter of time and patience hon.

We all struggled with the sleeping on our back, but once again another part of the recovery that requires patience. From memory you are seeing your OS on Friday, discuss your sleeping position with him.. He is the best one to advise when it can alter.

I know one of the FIRST THINGS i'll be talking to him about is doing my left hip next, i know now that i have had my right hip done what im up against and once again if i have to i will be asserting myself and letting him know that its not my fault im 43 yrs and nor is it my fault that my hip is not going to get better with time seeing its arthritic and painful, as far as going to see my surgeon i just cant foresee him telling me no i cant do the surgery mr cooper, thursday morning i see him @ 11:30 and hopefully things will go well..

I will make certain to ask him about my sleeping position because this sleeping on your back is awful....and annoying..!!!

Good luck on your appointment and I hope your surgeon agrees to do the other hip. He should.....once he sees the difference this surgery is making for you!

Jamie i truly hope he agrees to do the other hip lord knows it certainly needs it sooner rather then later, afterall why would he say no aside from his ego, i shouldnt say that but im ready for a battle, unless he is still hung up on the age factor,he and are the same age.

I have no doubt that you and your wife will be just as assertive this time. The good doctor doesn't have a prayer against you two! :th_heehee:

I dont plan on being ignorant or rude when i say im ready for battle but at this point in the game i cant hold back, ...tell me smething Jamie is he the one who makes the ultimate decision on wether or ot he does the surgery or i there more to it, i mean i would think he is the be all and end all right..what he says, goes right..???

The surgeon is the one who makes the decision....absolutely!

So if i walk in there and ask him to do the left hip and he says yes i will do the surgery, then thats it, all he'll need to do is get th ball rolling get me on the schedule, pre admission testing, etc etc etc

Yep, you got it. You'll probably have to go through some of the same pre tests, but that is basically it.

Afterall he did say to me after the surgery when he cam to see me in the recovery room , the surgery went really well, .....what would prevent or stop him from not wanting to do it seeing how well things went, im trying not to get my hopes up but for crying out loud if it went well the first time around it will be just fine the second time around, it only makes sense to wanna do the surgery this way im comeplete and in good shape with great outlook on life.

Has he definitely told you that the second hip was also bad? If so, then I cannot imagine him saying no to you.

He told me when he looked at the xrays in front of me and Lisa that "the left hip is no better" i really hope he's in a good mood on thursday when i see him.

:th_heehee: Me too. Take him (and his staff) a plate of "thank you" cookies for the great job he did on your first hip.

How come you have all the goodie ideas, thats an awesome idea, but again.. you came up with it so when he says "yes mr cooper i'll do the surgery" ill be smiling and thinking of you,

How are things going with you, how is your recovery coming along...?

What kind of cookies should i get him....the surgeon that is..

Gosh, Rich.....I'm 4 years out from my TKR, so I'd say I'm "recovered" at this point!

I tell you, ANY kind of homemade cookies work. I use that all the time. If you or your wife isn't really into cookie baking, just get one of those really good brownie mixes and make that. It's easy, gooey, and you'll make lots of friends. I keep a stash of those mixes for whenever we have work done on the house or anything where I need to make someone feel special. It ALWAYS works!!
