@msmechanic58 how are you going with your knees? I had a good physio session today and tried out the Gym. Will get into it properly next week! Fairly tired tonight as have started the not sleeping thing! Our weather has been so cold lately with wind off the Article today and it actually snowed in the hills outside of Adelaide. Not a common occurrence! Brrr!
My knees (I had both done at the same time!) are doing ok. My muscles would be better if I would stop the #ODIC! Lol.

@H2OPoloMom This year we have had lots of rain, so everything lived to pollenate and make my allergies go into overdrive. If that isn't bad enough the allergies have triggered the asthma (which I hadn't had issues with in about 15 years). I'm hoping all the new meds get me back to normal by hubby's surgery or I will be dragging. Don't you overdo it! Remember slow and steady!

I think the ragweed started early this fall. Have you ever looked at pollen.com?

@msmechanic58 Hi! How are you doing?
I go to weather.com and they have a pollen count you can get to from there. Haven't checked lately. Doesn't really matter - I'm allergic to everything. Even my cats. Usually clariten and advair have kept me in control, but the pollen is through the roof now and it didn't help that I was a little worn out trying to adjust to my new late babysitting schedule. I will survive, I went through 19 years of my life with my asthma not controlled (from age 22 to about age 41) I spent many a day in the hospital back then. So a little rough patch is doable. I just want to be in control when hubby has his surgery because I hate driving when my asthma is acting up (it can cause a panic attack). I will be fine though.
You have a great day!

I understand! I am allergic to everything that grows! Pine was my lowest reaction at 2 out of 4. I get allergy shots every week and they help immensely!

@msmechanic58 I tried the allergy shot route, but even after I finally got to maintenance dose my arm started swelling and they wanted to start all over again. I told them no!

Ugh. Sounds like the mix was too strong. I (knock on wood) have never had an issue with them. Another thing that has worked well for me is a Neti pot. Feels very strange but helps so much!

@msmechanic58 I thought about the Neti pot, but will give the new meds a try first. Make sure you use sterile water in your Neti pot as tap water can introduce bacteria into your sinuses.

@H2OPoloMom Hope you are having a great day today? Don't have an overdo it day, as so many seem to be having those lately! We are going to busy Sunday, Monday and Tuesday getting ready for hubby's surgery so today is a don't do much day.

I also suffer from allergies and they aren't good ...hayfever in the warmer months and sinus the rest of the time! Not much fun is it! I use a nasal wash called Fess and that helps a lot! I am allergic to a lot of things even gum trees which is not good living in Australia! @tiredwife @H2OPoloMom. I knitted two hats with pom-poms on them for my Grandson today. I found a pattern that is really quick and easy! I haven't knitted so much is ages!
@msmechanic58 I am trying not to overdo things but did go to the shop this morning, rested all afternoon and then went to our group tonight. By the time I got home my knees were very swollen. Sorry that your allergies are playing up like that it can make you so miserable. Hope it improves and happy. To hear you are doing well.

@tiredwife I hope that you are able to get the asthma under control so that you will be okay for your hubbie's next knee surgery! Glad to hear that he is okay. He certainly will be glad to have it all over and done with!

@tiredwife that's exactly the reason I opted for both knees to be done with a day I between as I couldn't face going back again for another round. It did make getting around a little more difficult and I an still not able to get out of an ordinary chair without pain or difficulty but the physio is working on that for me! When I had the right knee done the first time it was not as hard to get up. By the time your hubbie has recovered we will all be able to be dancing down the street! Thinking of you both!

Not much going on this weekend, so I'm taking it easy- a few loads of laundry, some computer work and my at home PT. I'm also working on going up stairs with my operated knee, only a couple at a time and only the 'short' ones, but I'm making progress. My knee has been itching lately (on the inside). I'm thinking it's another sign of more healing progress. I hope you all are enjoying a lovely weekend!

@H2OPoloMom itching is a sign of healing, just don't scratch or rub it! I think the stairs in the house is the reason my husband is doing so well, he had to climb stairs all the time because the tv is in the basement and the bathrooms are on the top floor. He can go up and down them great now! Hang in there, it will happen!

@plnppl hubby's doctor won't do them that close, in fact it took a lot of convincing to get him to do it at 10 weeks. He is one of those 6 month apart doctors. Wow, he will be able to dance down the street? He never could before:rotfl:! Sorry I couldn't resist!

@tiredwife yes he will be dancing down the street... The neighbours might laugh but he will be able to. I am hoping for the same and I don't care what the neighbours think! LOL!:loll: Wow it sounds as if he is doing well with the stairs. We only have on step at our place so I haven't been able to do much stair climbing. When I went to the pictures a couple of weeks ago and climbed the steps I suffered badly! Too much too soon! My right knee is doing very well. But the left has still a long way to go and feels weaker than the right. Leftie had the TKR and so more work so probably still in the healing process! I would have been a nervous wreck if I had had to wait 6 month I between but very surgeon is different and has different techniques. I have found it a longer recovery with both! At times still feel like an old woman but it will improve!:old:

@H2OPoloMom you are doing really well with the stairs. I only have one to practise on so it makes it difficult. Maybe I should get hubbie to make some for me. Do you use your cane when you are doing it? I go to the Gym on Wed and part of me wants to do it and the other part is saying "Ouch!" You said you were experiencing itching that is a sign of healing as @tiredwife mentioned. For external itching I have found Vitamin E cream or Aloe Vera really helps.

@plnppl we were very glad that we could talk the doctor into 10 weeks. It was hard, but hubby was doing so well he finally relented.

Still itching. I had PT today and my therapist has really cold hands, it feels so good (like an ice massage). I have been having random shots of pain, but I'm not sure why (I would willingly admit to over doing it, but I haven't). She said my kneecap wasn't gliding as well as it should be, so she worked on moving it around some. I think she was hoping to help with the random shots of pain (for once, it was actually happening at PT), but what it really helped with at least temporarily was the itching.

@plnppl, I barely use my cane anymore. Part of the reason is that I barely go anywhere except PT, and partly because I feel better having my hands free. I do take it in the car with me just in case I have to walk farther than I expect. I'm getting better on the short stairs, but still go up normal stairs good leg first (which still clicks on every step). I hope all is well with you!

@tiredwife, thinking about both you and your husband as surgery #2 gets closer. A link to a tkr video popped up on one of my news feeds today. I've watched part of one before and considered watching it, but ultimately chose not to. I've had problems getting on the site regularly recently, so just in case, know that I'll be thinking about both of you this week sending positive prayers for a smooth surgery and recovery!
