Glad to hear that you are feeling better @H2OPoloMom and that you were able to take the Ibuprofen earlier. I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that! I don't know if knitting skips a generation but sewing certainly does! My Mum could sew but I can't but my daughter can!

@Jozilla I can understand you feeling a little scared about having the second one done. I felt the same way as it was the second time for my right knee and I remembered what the pain was like! However, it really wasn't as bad as I imagined. You have had good success with the first one and so you will be prepared more for the second. Let us know how it all goes.

So very glad to read that good news! I've been hoping you would post.....you see, I've been on that table, too. Now, you can concentrate on that knee!

Going into today, I was pretty sure that I was getting a daytime pass to the ODIC. I had to go to work and had PT. So I got ready this morning, but before leaving, iced for half an hour, and I stuck to my guns about staying at work for only 2 hours icing with a gel pack for the majority of the time there. The half hour drive home had me a little worried as my knee started to protest, but as soon as I got home, I iced again before heading to PT. I iced before I left PT and again when I got home. To add to my stupidity, I had my daughter prep the veggies for dinner, but I made it (my made up version of a Mexican fried rice). When it was finished, I left it on the stovetop and guess what I did, yes, iced some more. Keeping my fingers crossed, but so far, so good. If I can make it through the night, I will officially call it a good day! I also got a 15 second preview this morning of what my knee will feel like without the tight band feeling. It was just long enough for me to recognize it before it was gone...

It happened again this morning, no tight band feeling when I first got up. It stayed a little longer this time, not much, but enough to hope! The knee spasms in the night were bad, but were wiped away with the excitement over the lack of the band feeling however short.

Three more weeks and I'm back to school full time. I always hate day 2 because we have our open house in the evening and it makes for a 14 hour day! Thank goodness I will have plenty of access to ice!

@H2OPoloMom Sorry I haven't stopped by in awhile, had a headache for a few days and would only get on long enough to answer the ones I was tagged in. Sorry you had such a bad day with the cyst, mine just go a way after a month on their own. I hope the biopsy isn't anything! Glad today is better.

Band camp was going on at school when I went in the other day, so I did get to see several of my students from last year. They hustled to get the door for me. It was very sweet!

So happy to hear your good news about the biopsy @H2OPoloMom ! It must be a weight off your shoulders and now back to your knee rehab! You had such you a busy day but you can be proud that you stuck to your guns and only stayed the two hours. So sweet of the kids to get the door for you! How many weeks post op will you be when you go back to work? Tight band feeling going is great news and exciting!
My visit to the Physio today went really well and he is really happy with my progress. ROM was 120 for the right knee and 110 for the left but I knew it would be less as it was a bit swollen. He said that he sees very few people who have that kind of range at 8 weeks! Felt encouraged by that! I did a few minutes on the recumbent bike and it was a bit hard at first but it got better. Start Gym work next week!

@tiredwife I hope that your headache has gone now and that you are feeling better! How is your husband feeling about his next TKR?

@msmechanic58 how are you going with your knees? I had a good physio session today and tried out the Gym. Will get into it properly next week! Fairly tired tonight as have started the not sleeping thing! Our weather has been so cold lately with wind off the Article today and it actually snowed in the hills outside of Adelaide. Not a common occurrence! Brrr!

I head back to work at 10 weeks. At this point, I'm more worried about having a new prep than my knee. My attention span and inability to sit at the computer for long have kept me from preparing as much as I would like.

Heading to the gym sounds like you are ready for strengthening, very exciting! Are you just about done with formal PT then?

@H2OPoloMom Yes I think it is all about strengthening my knees from now on! I will still have to see the new physio every few weeks to check on my progress. My. Knees were complaining tonight even after the very short trial today and so I sent hubbie out to buy the Solarcaine spray and it has helped a lot! I can understand you being worried about the prep as it's hard to think properly after all we have been through as well as the lack of energy that goes with it! Have you got someone who would be able to help you with it.......maybe another teacher?
My background was in Aged Care but I injured my back and ended up having a stress breakdown due to pain and lack of support and then when my knees starting playing up I decided it was time to retire. I used to have a lot of preparation as I was a lifestyle Coordinator and often had to do a yearly plan for some things so I understand what you mean. Prep and paperwork what a joy! Sometimes yes and sometimes no! I saw a quote the other day and thought it was really good " you can't change the past but you can reshape the future". We Bonesmarties are re shaping our futures!

At our last meeting, I had the other Bio teachers put their work where I can get to it. It's close to 2000 documents, so even just sorting through them and trying to figure out what is what will be a challenge. I will do right by these students, but it is hard to get over the vast amount of work to do it for 1 year since I won't be teaching it next year. A coworker of mine and I tease that we teach for free because we love it, but we get paid for the paperwork! I'll retire when it's no longer fun...

I'm so glad the Solarcaine is helping! The swelling in my knee must be going down as it has started clunking some. It's a very unusual feeling. My OS said that it goes away when the tendons and ligaments tighten up. I've also noticed that I'm getting feeling back in the dead zone on the outside of my knee. Lots of changes that I'm choosing to look at as progress on my way to reshape my future (love the quote).

I'm excited that you are at a point where you can work on strengthening! I'm hoping to be able to bike this fall to help, but I need to ask if it's ok or if I should wait until next year because of healing.

It's late for you, I hope that good sleep is coming your way and soon!

@H2OPoloMom yes it is late here about 1:10 am but I am often up this late due to not sleeping well! Great that you are getting the feeling back again? It's great isn't it? I have the felling back in my right knee but not as much in my left knee yet. I am sure that it will come ...having a bit more trouble with the left knee cap as I still worry a little that I might have hurt it going up those stairs. The physio said it looked okay but doesn't feel quite right perhaps it will settle in time!
That's certainly a lot of paperwork to read and get through ...you will get there! Yes be sure that you. Check before you bike as you don't want to do any damage at this stage! My goal as I said before is to go to
Europe and. UK and see the sights and visit the relatives! Well I am off to bed to try and get some sleep! Have a good day!

@H2OPoloMom Hey, it finally let me on your thread! Hubby said his has clanked a few times, but I haven't heard it. All you can do is one day at time. Overdoing it might set you back a little so pace yourself the best you can.

@plnppl Hubby is ready to get it done and over with. Headache is gone, just wish I could get a handle on the allergies - a very bad season. Doc put me on a new allergy med, hope it works. Sleeping is so elusive. Even with Ambien hubby has it rough.

I was hoping to bike in October, but my PT said that I should be good to start in September slowly and on flat surfaces (no hills). I even rode the upright bike today- slowly, but full rotations. I think I have lots of nerve action today. It's driving me me a little nuts.

@tiredwife, I hope the new allergy meds help! I have problems about every third fall and know how awful they can be.

@plnppl, you have an admirable goal! I too would like to visit Europe, but it won't be for awhile since I will have 2 in college this year.
