@H2OPoloMom good to hear that you are driving now. It feels wonderful doesn't it to have that freedom again. Sorry to hear about the cyst but usually they are not a problem and it's good that you seem relaxed about it. I hope that you are sleeping better. I was sleeping reasonably well except for having to get up and go to the toilet more often than usual( was wondering if the anaesthetics have relaxed my bladder!) but the past few days
I have had little or no sleep! Resorted to a sleeping pill last night!
Still having lots of pain getting up out of normal chairs but apart from that things are going really well! I walked a kilometre yesterday with a rest in the middle!

@msmechanic58 hope that you sleep better tonight! I've had a few sleepless nights of late so getting more knitting done! My knees are a bit swollen and sore tonight after going to the movies with a Girlfriend. We chose seats where I could stretch out so that was okay! It was so good to have a good laugh! Have been resting and icing since I got home! This recovery is so much better than the first time with my right knee but I am going to have a few quieter days as I have probably been doing too much.

Trips to the bathroom in the night usually mean I'm losing weight, so normally I don't mind them. While I have been losing some weight despite my overall lack of activity, enough is enough. My sleep would be much better if I didn't have to get up and go all the time!

The one thing that bothers me about the cyst is that when I called to schedule it, they told me that I had to stop taking ibuprofen 5 days before. I explained that I was 6 weeks out from a tkr and it was my main form of pain control. She talked to the doctor, and we got it down to stopping the night before. Definitely better.

@plnppl what movie did you see? I haven't seen a movie in the theatre in a long time as it always set off a flare up. It's on my to do list once I get a little further along. Well done on the walk! I like hearing about what you can do since your 9 days ahead of me; it gives me hope in what I can look forward to in my near future (even though I know that my recovery is my own).

@msmechanic58 I hope you were able to get some good rest once you finally did fall asleep! My body finally gave up and afforded me 4 hours before, yup, a trip to the restroom made me move. I was so sleep fogged; I wasn't sure that I could even get to Betty (my walker) let alone the bathroom. I rarely use the walker anymore, but it was necessary with my stiff and drunken momentum. I did fall right back to sleep for a couple of hours.

The movie was "Mrs Brown D'Movie @H2OPoloMom and @msmechanic58. It was very funny with some emotional bits in it as well! So good to get out and have a chuckle! The picture theatre had steps and my knees objected to them fiercely. I did suffer afterwards and had to ice and rest as my knees, particularly, the Left one swelled up! Tomorrow is a rest up day! You are right when you say that "your recovery is your own". Everyone seems to travel a different path (I was going to say "walk" but we know how difficult that is at the moment!) I agree that it is good that we are so close in recovery and can see how the other is going. We will get there eventually! My girlfriend said today that she thought I was much more relaxed with this recovery than the first time! I definitely feel more confident this time around and know that the right knee is so much better this time around. I am still taking Endone once or twice daily and Panadol regularly. I didn't take as much today which wasn't a wise move and felt the pain! It's good that you can still take the Ibuprofen until the night before. It would have been too painful otherwise for you! Let us know how you get on! Oh the joys of the nightly trips to the loo ( Aussie for bathroom or toilet!)

I was up but laid on the couch doing deep breathing exercises and finally fell back to sleep. Slept from 7:30 -9:40 am. Stiff and sore and waiting for my next dose. Will have a shower and try to do something with the mop on my head. :)

That's on my list for tomorrow @71Beetle to wash and colour my hair! Other than that I plan on doing nothing as my knees are quite painful tonight after the days activity.

I have a freshly washed mop:) I haven't had a haircut since April and it's getting a little out of control. Rotating between a top knot and swimmer's bun is fine for recovery, but I'm going to have to do something with it soon with going back to school! I may chop it all off again.

@H2OPoloMom I only managed to get my hair cut a few days ago as it was driving me crazy. Didn't get the hair colour done but there is always tomorrow. I rested up most of today and then went for a walk... Did 1800 steps reasonably comfortably and rested for a couple of minutes at my half way point! Not sure how far it actually is maybe a kilometre? After going to the movies and going up some stairs yesterday I had a really bad night but the walk seemed to help loosen thing up. I see a physio on Friday so will see how things go afterwards. You will have to post a new avatar of your new haircut if you decide to get it cut short!

I survived my visit today. Unfortunately, if it could go wrong, it did. So I was originally scheduled for an ultrasound guided aspiration of a cyst, but the tech couldn't find it, then the doctor couldn't find it. So they had to do another mammogram (oh joy). Sure enough, it was still there. I was secretly hoping that my body had re absorbed it, but no such luck. With the new and better mammogram pictures, my cyst was renamed a nodule and my aspiration became a biopsy. Because of the difficulty in finding it, they had to use X-rays to guide the needle. This means that I had to climb up onto a 5 foot high metal table and lay face down during the procedure. Normally, this would be no big deal, but at this point, I was 15 hours of no pain meds and 3 hours out from ice and elevating with my knee face down on a metal table. The procedure wasn't bad, but my knee was. When it was finished, I got to have yet another mammogram and was told no ibuprofen for 24 hours. Walking back to my car, uphill and across 2 streets, I truly could only think of my knee and my pain management and canceling PT. I broke down when I got home and took some Percocet which is definitely starting to kick in. I should get the results in 3-5 days.

[Bonesmart.org] Full moon and Friday the 13th!
Wow! what an ordeal, @H2OPoloMom! And percocet was exactly what you and your poor knee needed after all that. Elevate and ice, ice, ice; and plan to rest tomorrow.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Oh you poor thing! What a terrible ordeal for you to have to go through. It sounds like so traumatic and it's no wonder that you broke down. The pain must have been awful for you! I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that and without the benefit of painkillers, the uphill walk and everything else that you went through that day. I do hope that with icing and resting it has settled down! I am back on the Endone as my left knee has been so painful ever since I went to the pictures and went up the stairs and then getting out of the normal type of chairs at lunch. I haven't done too much since then apart from exercises and walking. I am trying to increase the walks by about 10% every few days and lessen it if they start to groan. I don't go as far.
The pain killers that I have been taking are not really doing much. I will be be praying for a really positive outcome for you. We are here for you!

Oh, rereading my post...when I said " broke down," I meant that I used Percocet as a pain killer. I had gone almost a week without using a narcotic and was hoping to be done with them, but I'm not going to be a martyr through this pain. The icing is also helping! It's been a rather miserable day. I even have bruising over my right ribs from that table and have been icing that as well. Headache, nausea, soreness- I just want to sleep until it goes away. Tomorrow will be better!

Hopefully, the Endone helps with the pain more than what you had been taking. If not, maybe you need to slow back down a bit. Thank you for the prayers!

Oh I feel for you! I do hope that you have a much better day today. No! It will be a better day for you today! I went for my walk and that is all I intend to do for the day! I have scaled back a bit and didn't even go to my daughters today as it meant going up two big steps and didn't want to aggravate anything more than it already is. I see the new Physio on Friday and hope that he is not a Physical Terrorist! LOL! I bought some of the spray that was suggested and will try it out a bit later on. If you are still feeling a bit miserable (which is totally understandable) try a bit of home pampering e.g do your nails, put on some favourite music, facial... something just for you!

Thanks @Jozilla ! I usually only do simple patterns and it is the perfect time to knit at the moment as it's winter here and not a lot else to do! Just started a new one with a lacy pattern that I am finding a challenge. Always wanted to learn to crochet as they say it is a lot quicker than knitting! However I was happy with the results. How are you going?

I have been doing great. I am seven months out and it is a huge difference. I am a little scared though with #2 knee coming in September. Just hope it goes as well!

Great work @plnppl! Both my mom and mother in law knit, but mostly scarves though the occasional hat and blanket make their way here too. When my daughter was younger, they taught her as well. Maybe the knitting gene skips a generation!?! Good luck with the new PT on Friday!

I ended up taking an ibuprofen earlier than the 24 hours after reading on several hospital sites that it was recommended for pain relief after my procedure. While the Percocet helped with my knee, I had a killer headache that was making me nauseated. Afterward, I was able to get some sleep, headache is gone and so is the nausea. Today is already better and I have nothing on my calendar!
