@H2OPoloMom everyone is have trouble with the site being slow. Tomorrow is the day, he is first so we have to be at the hospital early in the morning. Hubby watched a video a few weeks ago, wish he hadn't or he wouldn't have gotten so nervous this time. Thank you for your prayers! Itching drove hubby crazy for a couple of weeks. At one of his first PT they showed us how to move his knee cap and told us to do it every day. So far (knock on wood) he hasn't had any problems with it. You have a great day!

@H2OPoloMom Yes things are going okay with me. My knees are still really sore as you would expect but I had some knee shape today so that's good to finally see them instead of big lumpy potatoes! I went up two larger steps at my daughters today and managed reasonably well? Gym tomorrow and then Physio afterwards! I am hoping that I am not too sore afterwards! I have been getting gentle spasms in the left knee which is an interesting sensation!

@plnppl Thank you! My husband bought a tablet, so I will take it to the hospital and try to keep everyone posted, not for sure how good the wifi is at the hospital though. His surgery is the first one, but his surgeon is slow and they are always slow prepping so he probably won't be done til noon. Don't overdo it with the gym and pt in the same day.

@tiredwife and @H2OPoloMom . The Gym went really well this morning and although my knees were sore they were not screaming at me! The Physio that I see is really gentle and basically checks me and massages my knees. It was good to have that after the Gym workout. I only did 15 minutes and that was quite enough for the first time. My knees although sore actually felt stronger afterwards. ROM is 125 for the right knee and 115 at the moment for the left knee.

Hopefully your soreness is the good kind- from the workout and not from recovery @plnppl. I feel like my ROM is stalled out at 120, but maybe some more swelling needs to go down before it can get any better. They stretch my knee every time I go to PT, but only measure every 5th visit. I'm becoming impatient this week, and just want to get on with life.

We're heading up to my parents cottage for an overnight this weekend. I'm looking forward to a swim and a campfire! We also have to go to a funeral visitation for my dad's uncle who passed away recently at 93. I'm hoping the travel doesn't set me back.

120 at this stage is nothing to sneeze at.

You're right @kneeper, but I've been there for over 2 weeks and would just like to see a little forward progress. Feeling stuck in the middle of this recovery and it's getting old. Ok, enough whining from me! I'm going to try to get to the farmer's market tomorrow. Fresh veggies, fruits and some delicious bread sound good!

@H2OPoloMom 120 ROM is great ...the rest will come! I know what you mean about it getting old and wanting to get on with life. This is a hard recovery and we all have our impatient times! I think that it happens in small bursts and then stalemates for a while. Your time away sounds wonderful but sorry that you have to attend a funeral. Perhaps take your pain relief before you leave and give them a chance to kick in for the drive. Perhaps you can also make a few stops along the way to relieve the sitting. I felt a little miffed last week because someone I know kept saying things to me like " I was back at work at eight weeks after my knee!" " I would think you would be further along by now! " I gently tried to remind her that I had two knees done and the recovery is longer and that everyone us different. My knees feel good after the Gym but my back is sore today... Would love a massage! Enjoy your trip and swim!

(Great) Uncle Kurt was a pretty amazing guy! Always smiling, getting involved with community, and impacting so many individuals! His dad immigrated to the US at 16 and alone- his travel papers were altered to make it look like he was 18. I used to ask him all kinds of family questions, but his parents just didn't talk about their past much. Some funerals are sad, but this one should be a celebration of his outstanding 93 years!

@plnppl I bet that if they really thought about what it was like to go back at 8 weeks, they would be more understanding. Time makes us forget sometimes. Still, comments like that are pretty insensitive!

@H2OPoloMom your Great Uncle sounds like he was an amazing person and it is good that's hat you can celebrate his life! How brave at 16 to do something like that! I don't think the person I mentioned meant to be insensitive but it just got to he a little that day. Perhaps I was being a little over sensitive! I am amazed at how much stronger my left knee feels after the short Gym session! My poor hubbie is groaning at present with a sore knee and then he did something to his back this afternoon. Hoping he feels better tomorrow as we have our Grandson for the day!:tiredwheel:

I did it! I went to the grocery store!! I had both my daughters with me for help and sent them down many aisles with specific items to grab (I know my store very well). I also got lots of supplies for my son for school since he leaves in 2 weeks (towels, first aid, bathroom stuff, and basic medicine) and school supplies. Two carts later, I cringed bending my knee to get into the car while they loaded it up. Icing now while they put it away and it doesn't feel too bad (yet?). My receipt is literally 3 feet long, but I did pick up like 20 rulers for school and they show up indivially...

@H2OPoloMom, isn't that first trip to the store great?? I love school supply shopping, even though my kids are now adults. Since I'm a paraeducator, I always pick stuff up in the summer. I know they will get used during the school year. This year I'll be in the Media Center instead of a classroom, but I've still gotten a few things. Be sure to take it easy the rest of the day!

@H2OPoloMom congratulations on your trip to the store. Hope your knee settles down for you! Isn't it great when we can start to do things again! Well done!
Looking after our little Grandson was good but challenging as hubbie couldn't do anything to help me. I took him to Kindergym for the hour as it was easier than chasing him around the h ouse. He is 22 months old and at the really cute stage. I love having him but am paying for it today big time! Hubbie is still bad with his knee and back and my back is sympathising with his at the moment from too much activity yesterday! My knees however pulled up really well! Just sore from standing around so very pleased about that ..now to get our backs settled! You sound as if you are getting really organised!

Aside from not wanting to bend after the shopping trip, I've had no backlash from being on my feet all that time. Granted, I did ice and elevate when I got home, but I am very relieved to have not joined ODIC! It makes me feel more comfortable with heading to the lake. Now, if only I could get to sleep- it's after 3:30am...

Little boys are awesome! Mine is not so little now, but I miss him. He's been camping all week. I hope your back settles soon @plnppl (& your husband's), but glad that your knees held up!

@H2OPoloMom Glad to hear that their wasn't any backlash from your shopping trip. You will be fine when you go to the lake! I would live a massage at the moment for my back but wouldn't be able to lay on the table! My "little" boy is now 30! He comes home once a week and has tea with us and stays the night! I love it that he wants to do this! Sorry that you can't sleep. I slept well for about 6 weeks after I had my knees done (probably having two anaesthetics) now I am back to my normal lack of sleep patterns. Have resorted to half a sleeping tablet bought the Grandson a mini cleaning set as he loves brooms etc and he was pretending to clean and wash the floor. So cute! Pity he couldn't do it for real! LOL:rofsign:
