THR Double hippy happy<

Thanks Josephine :)
Must learn not to lean to the left still as I've found myself doing so without realising it.

Seems very promising. I had to take note of my stance and gait as I was told I was a toe walker. Did alot of baby stepping too.
I practiced down long hallways at work lengthening my gait etc.
That can come with its own aches as some muscles haven't been used correctly for years.
Gets better every day though!

Have to agree there Josephine, my brain isn't used to all this conscious thinking I'm having to do now :D
I'll get there slowly, I'm not rushing it as I'm still enjoying having the lads and hubby help out around the house :)

Aches and pains are there for sure, may have overdone the housework the last couple of days so I think I'm going to have a really lazy day and relax with feet up and coffee.

Had a really lazy day yesterday, still a bit achy but otherwise doing ok.
Managed to walk a few steps more or less properly - very slight limp, in the kitchen this morning. Nice narrow kitchen so there's something either side of me to grab if I need to.

Hope that you all have a good day, I think I will. Celebrating 20 years of marriage today to the second most important man in my life - first being my late dad :)

Happy healing all :)

Hi there, Sarah
Just take it slow, it's the best you can do. It will come.
Wishing you a very Happy Anniversary and many, many more since you're so young.
I hope you and hubby have something special planned to celebrate.
Dad's are special, especially because in most cases they're the first man we ever loved!
Best Wishes for a wonderful day!
@SarahUK

@Layla Thanks :)

I think it'll be a quiet night in with a bottle of wine and good food. :)
Slow isn't easy for someone who used to rush around and got things done. Found it hard to sit and watch as others did all the work I used to do in the house.
Patience is a virtue, and one I don't have a lot of. Had to learn though and my hips, both good and bad let me know when I overdo things.

I seem to have gone back to lurking and not posting much :p

I joined the ODIC the other day, had to go out with 3 of my boys to the dentist, new hip and buses do not agree with each other!! Not doing that again in a hurry. Spent a good day doing absolutely nothing except resting and elevating watching mind-numbing tv with the odd kitchen break for coffee.
Sleeping on my side is still elusive for the most part, I can manage about 2 hours before I find myself back downstairs on the recliner.
This is the first Christmas where I actually don't have to do the cooking, I'm under orders off family that I'm to sit and watch tv even though I could probably manage it.....boredom will set in rather quickly.

And lastly, @Josephine if I move my leg a certain way I feel a popping/snapping sensation in the front of my thigh, high up near the groin crease. Is this anything to worry about or normal healing?

Hi @SarahUK
Lurking is okay if it gets you here and you're learning something, or uplifted by others posts.
However, we'd love to support you, Sarah, through your trials and tribulations.
This recovery biz can take time. More time for some, than others.
Sadly sometimes one has to join the ODIC to realize their limitations.
Sorry you're struggling because of it but with some rest, ice and elevation it should pass.
I noticed you tagged Josephine, I'm sure she'll be around soon.....she's a busy lady!
Warm wishes for a :merry christmas: and a wonderful 2018! :nativity:

Thanks @Layla Life throws these curveballs at us from time to time. Trials and tribulations are all part of the healing and moving forward process, one which, like you say can take more time for some and less for others.

Surgery was the easy part, well maybe not easy (he got it right in the end), recovery is definitely the hard part.
I'm making progress slowly, can just about manage going upstairs normally but not down them just yet. My main goal, apart from walking without a limp, is to finally be able to sleep on my right. Not possible yet as still a bit sore but slowly improving.

Wishing you and all BoneSmarties a very :merry christmas:

And one morning you will suddenly wake up from sleeping on surgical side. I thought it would never happen, but it did. Have a happy Christmas.

if I move my leg a certain way I feel a popping/snapping sensation in the front of my thigh, high up near the groin crease. Is this anything to worry about or normal healing?
Gosh, almost 5 months post-op? Any healing in your hip should be well done by now? Are you doing any exercises or physio?

No physio at all. If I'm standing around doing nothing then I will gently swing my leg back and forth a few times, I do that out of habit, used to do it before surgery to get the hip moving before I did anything. The only exercise I do is walking. Not painful, just a weird sensation. As long as I'm careful in how I move that leg it doesn't happen.

@MammaT It will happen, I just need to have a bit more patience, something that is in short supply with me at the moment :) Have a happy Christmas:)

Maybe it will be a Christmas present :box:.that swinging back and forth thing can be strange. Sometimes it feels weird, other times not. Maybe just takes time for everything to settle in place. Will be interested in Josephine’s thoughts.

Heres hoping MammaT, be nice if it did happen. Back sleeping never was something I could do unless forced into it. The recliner has been a godsend, makes it easier for me to sleep on my back even though I don't like it.

Josephine is a fountain of wisdom and I'm sure her wise words are much appreciated by everyone here :)

Agree with what you said about Josephine @SarahUK we all learn a lot from Josephine's lengthy career experiences. I was fascinated by a detailed description she left within someone's thread yesterday explaining the involved process of preparing the femur interior for the implant. It was very interesting but I didn't like the thought of it happening in my femur :heehee:

Josephine has been more helpful than my own consultant. She has aleviated any worries or concerns I may have had, and I'm sure that's true for a lot of people here. As and when I have my left hip done, this will be my port of call. :)

My apologies for being extremely quiet over the Xmas period.

My dear, lovely mum passed away suddenly, we think on Xmas Eve/Day.

I will return once all arrangements are finalised and the funeral has taken place. Until then, I wish you all the best in health and happiness.

Sincerest condolances @SarahUK ! We are here for you when you need to talk.

Oh @SarahUK I am so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers go out to you at this sad time xx
