[Bonesmart.org] Double hippy happy<

Aww, Sarah
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your precious mum.
Sending you a warm hug and prayers for peace and comfort as you heal from your loss.
@SarahUK

Hi all, Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts at this horrible time.
I'm still on auto pilot and will be for quite some time I think. I've been told by many people not to blame myself, but naturally I am. I haven't quite taken it in yet but it will hit me, and it'll hit me hard.

The reason I'm here is my right heel is sore and bruised, as I think I mentioned in an earlier post. I have been hoping that rest, elevation and ice would have helped, but it is still painful. I've attached a pic (not the most flattering). I go to see my original consultant on Thursday after telling the one who did the surgery that I wasn't happy with him.
@Josephine do you have any idea what could be causing this?

My sore, bruised heel :(

I also am sorry for your loss.
Don't guess you injured that for our shoes causing problems on top of swelling...causing bruising?
Certain it needs liked at...oweee!

I'm having it looked at tomorrow when I see my consultant. It's possibly my shoes causing it, not sure.
I have found one thing that helps, compeed blister plaster, instant relief and seems to help the bruising go down as well.

I'm slightly sore and achy now after sitting on a bus for over an hour and have to do same again tomorrow.....I really hate buses :(
It's worst in a morning when I weight bear, feels as though it's tearing, horrible feeling but soon goes away once I'm up and about.

Oooh....that looks painful!
I hope you get answers today at your appointment.
Please give us an update, if you care to share.
Hope you have a great day! @SarahUK

I had my consultant appointment today.
He has no idea whats causing the bruising. Advised me to rest it as much as possible.
He has sent me to physio. He thinks that there is a muscle on the inside of my thigh that is too tight and therefore lifting the leg off the ground, both legs are the same length. The physio is only to work that particular muscle and gently stretch it out. There is also a small possibility that the locking ring has restricted movement somehow, waiting on confirmation of that off the one who did the surgery.
I'm now waiting for a CT scan to be done to see what's going on with the hip. My right knee is pointing inwards and it shouldn't be, so something not right there.

Hope you all had a good day :)

Oh my @SarahUK, this certainly is a mystery. I hope they figure something out soon.

Hi @SarahUK
Prayers the issue is something minor and soon resolves.
Get lots of rest and keep us posted.
Sending a hug :console2:

Just had an appointment with the doc, she thinks it's a severe case of tendonitis and has put me down for physio on the ankle. I'm also having physio on my hip tomorrow, gentle stretching to hopefully ease the tight muscle at the top of my thigh. Still waiting on date for CT of hip. I know my physio and how good he is, had him for my wrist after I chipped a bone in it, (2 years ago) still have that piece floating around somewhere in my wrist/hand even now but I'm back to full gripping strength :) He's very gentle, listens when you say it hurts and doesn't push you to do more than you're happy with.

Hope physio helps with ankle and stretching @SarahUK. Tendinitis can be very painful and hard to heal. I still run into the tight muscles at top of thigh. Please let me know what they have you do for that and if it helps.

Glad you got answers...I'm sure you were going through all worse case scenarios! How nerve wracking!
Good you have established physio...
Hope all resolves soon.

Had a read about physio for achilles tendonitis and it gets more painful during physio for a short time before it gets better.
@Mojo333 Physio was the last thing I wanted to do but if it helps then I'll do it, managed to avoid it until now :)

@MammaT If going by what my consultant did with me it'll be pretty much the same. He had me lie on the bed, dangle my left leg over the edge and then gently pulled the right leg out to the side until I let him know that was my limit. Boy did I feel the stretch in that muscle. Hip did seem a little looser after that, a bit more motion in it so I think it's going to help in the long run.

Hi @SarahUK
Wonderful you have a diagnosis to work with. Hopefully your pain resolves soon.
It has to be nice to have an attentive physio who's gentle and listens to your concerns.
Update us tomorrow on whether you found relief through gentle stretching.
Wishing you a peaceful relaxing evening!

Had physio this afternoon. Very gentle stretching of muscle on inside of thigh, showed me how to do the same thing at home either standing up or lying down, whichever is more comfortable for me. He spotted straight away that I am still leaning to the left slightly. Gave me a sheet with more gentle stretches to do 2x a day to strengthen leg muscles. He had me lie on my front, something I've been reluctant to even think about in case I did damage, all went well. That small victory now means I can, hopefully, sleep in my bed.
My bruise, would you believe it, is a flipping pressure bruise!! Achilles is intact, no tearing etc, slight inflammation but that should ease as long as I don't put excess pressure on it. No more elevating under my heel, instead I have to move my pillows to the belly of the calf muscle.
Going back next week to see him again as he wants to keep a close eye on the bruise.
All in all, one very happy hippy :D

:tada: Great Report! Very Happy for you. Hopefully, all Onward and Upward!

Thanks Mojo333, I felt a difference in my stance again straight after the physio finished, almost like I'm standing taller and straighter so definitely going in the right direction.

Once this weekend is over (my mum's funeral on Saturday) I can concentrate on building strength and flexibility. If I could dance around the living room, I would :)
