Re: knee still tender after over a year
I have been reading that lot of you have numb feeling after surgery , I also had that problem, but for me I found the solution for me. It was having massages. From what I was told from a doctor that message forces circulation in that area and therefore it help the nerves to heal by giving them blood supply. Now most of all the places I had operated on, I started massages the area very lightly, a couple of weeks after the operation. I mean very lightly, as weeks pass, I start putting more pressure on the area. Then after being approved by the doctor, I start having regular body massages. I was amazed that my area that was numb slowly returns to normal. Now I do have one area that I didn't do this to and it is still slightly numb. But if I keep the massages up I noticed it is getting better but it's taken years to get this far because I didn't do it like the other places. My knee area that was numb is 100% is back to full feeling. I know I'm talking about lots of work and massages aren't cheap but I find not only had the surgery area gotten better, but so has my whole body. I just thought I would mention this because it's great to feel great.
I also have found that most of my doctors tell me I did the right thing. It's not a magic bullet because it takes months but I feel it's worth every penny and I have also read it helps to keep blood circulation in all of the body and therefore keeps me healthier. And I found it also helps me from tingles from feet and hands after doing too much repeated motions. It also helps me with pain and stiffness.
Before I started it for the first time I did lot of research because there are so many different massages. My PT helped me to decide which one would help me the most. Depending on my needs decides which one I will have that month or every other week. You do have to be very careful because you could get hurt if the right massage is not used. I have had them over twenty years and have tried many. Some worked and some didn't but I feel if the whole body gets help not just the injured spot, what a benefit. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:yes 4:
