Well my dear Debbie, I spent 3 days in the hospital and 10 days in rehab so by day 14 I was home. By day 21 we knew we needed each other and we found a way! Shortly after, my neck problem got worse, causing extreme pain and lightheadedness! I had my appointment with a new OS that deals with spine and neck problems for help this week and he determined that I had a very extremely solid neck muscle and he ordered an MRI, because he suspects a bulging disc in my neck. He prescribe a muscle relaxer, which I started last night. All this has not stop my husband and I from enjoying each other. What i'm really getting at is if you're in the mood make the offer to hubby and he may surprise you about his pinched nerve in his neck taking a back seat to an encounter with his lady love! Just say'n!

That is what I love about all this. A couple that can still express their love for each other is just so awesome. I know a couple that we winter with in AZ, they are in their 80's and I think they might still be doing a little winking between the sheets and they are just such a sweet couple. Give us not so old ones hope. My husband and I have been married almost 37 years and together 39. It is funny we go across the boarder into Mexico and standing in line to go through customs you hear all these old guys talking about buying their viagra. It is a money maker for them down there for sure.

Had a really nice visit with my daughter and my three year old grandson. He was very interested in what the doctor did to grandma's knee. He learned he had to make a path so grandma could walk to the bathroom. He likes all his toys at grandma's to be out when he is here. Had to laugh how interested he was in my polar ice machine. He had to open it up to see the engine. I told him it was a motor, but he still called it an engine. My daughter thought the knee looked good and not too swollen and said be patient. Sure easier said then done. Sure helps the blues when they come around. They live a couple hours away, so don't get to see them weekly, so it is nice when we can see them.

****, I should have did some calculating here. I am going to run out of my Vicodin and it is a holiday weekend and my pharmacy won't be open until Tuesday. I had talked to my OS last week about switching to Tramadol which I have plenty of on hand. He told me I could switch back and forth with them. I am thinking I would like to save the Vicodin for the 9PM and 1:30AM pill times. According to the bottle I can take Vicodin every 3 hours but I manage to stretch it out a bit. Now with the Tramadol, the bottle label is from before surgery, it says to take two 3 times a day. So wondering seeing I want to take the Vicodin at night, does that mean I can only take the Tramadol twice during the day time, or can I still take it three times during the day and the Vicodin twice at night. I know I can add Tylenol to the Tramadol too, but only adding one 500 mg when I take the Tramadol so I will be under the 4000mg for the day. this is all so confusing. I am still on coumadin so I can't take any aspirin or ibuprofen.
Good news had the best sleep in weeks. But hate to say it was because my husband slept in another room. He has a pinched nerve in his neck and has to sleep on his back and he snores and that wakes me up. I hate the thought of not sharing a bed, but what can I do?
More good news. Actually found out the day of my surgery as my son was so excited, but he wanted it to be hush hush for a few more weeks. Anyway, I am going to be grandma again. I have one 3 year old grandson from my daughter and my son and his wife have been trying for 3 years. She is 38 and no kids and she was on all sorts of pills to help her get pregnant and she did get pregnant at least twice that I know of, but lost them at 3 and 4 weeks. So they decided no more, no more pills or anything. So just the old fashion way she is pregnant and is 9 weeks along. Ultra sound of the baby looks good and strong heartbeat. Please pray for this baby. It is so wanted.

Debbie, that's wonderful news. Yes, may the baby be healthy and safe. Thanks for the person who started the "Resume sex" thread. Not a digression at all, in my opinion. Why have a TKR if not for resuming all kinds of things pain free, sex among them. My husband and I find that we have to be creative. Normal positions are too painful. Still practicing patience.

I imagine it would be the same with the vicodin. Trial and error. As you've learned, it's really important to check your med supply early in the week and think ahead! Call any pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist about taking the drugs to be sure. There must be one open around you. Or call your hospital and ask to speak with a post op nurse. Someone can advise you even if they can't get your pills.

Good work on keeping tabs on the Tylenol totals. Tramadol can be taken 50-100mgs 4-6hrly up to 4 times a day. If you can only take half a dose of Tylenol, take 100mg of Tramadol. Or you could just take 100mgs and forget the Tylenol. Why don't you switch to Tramadol+Tylenol completely and then it would be easier to calculate!

Thanks Josephine, I know that would be easier to just be on the Tramadol, but I have trouble sleeping with just the Tramadol and the Vicodin seems to work better at night. Unless it is just my husband's snoring that would make me stir and wake. We just talked about that, that we maybe need to take a short bedroom break so we can get our sleep. I hate that idea, but you have to do what you have to do.

WooooHoooo, back behind the wheel again. Took a test drive to town (5 miles) with my husband. Just have to do some adjusting to the seat when getting in and getting out and maybe I don't have the seat up as close to the steering wheel as I normally do.

Just wanted to share what helps lift my spirits when I am down in the dumps. Look at my grandson Eli. I just love his blonde hair. He is three years old and was so concerned that the doctor cut grandma's knee open. Now can't wait to get that second grandchild. What will be funny is how blonde Eli is, and his mommy (my daughter) is blonde and so is his daddy, now my son has almost black hair and really dark brown eyes and his wife is part Nicaraguan and has black hair and very dark eyes. So most likely they will hard a dark haired baby, but could have a blonde too, now that would be funny. So here is the picture of Eli I want to share.

Eli is such a cutie, OMG! You must have such a hard time keeping your hands off of this little guy when you see him. He looks absolutely edible! Thanks for sharing, he certainly brings a smile anyones face when they see him, he did to me! It will be interesting to see what your other grandbaby will look like!
