THR Cpollock Surgery June 19, 2017<

Hi everyone. Originally my surgery was July 31st and it was bumped up to June 19th. I got home at 1 today. My mom and dad picked me up and my husband loaded my suitcase and flowers in the car then went to fill my prescriptions. Mom had made some nutritious brocollu soup and they brought subs. I had about s cup of soup and a few bites of my sub then off to bed for a nap. I'm up now to take my tramacet and have a little soup and some more of my sub. The nurse took off the heavy bandage and replaced it with a thin one. I had some leaking but I believe that's normal???? When the doctor cane by to see me I told him I was light headed. He said there was blood loss and my blood will build back up. Not enough loss for a transfusion or anything. He said I have hip dysplasia where the cup is small. And my hip was bad. I was awake for the whole procedure but couldn't feel or see anything. I was sedated but never out. All is good. I got very little sleep in hospital so I'm glad to be home. My husband is keeping a watchful eye on me. Congrats to the other sunbeams.

It sure is good to get home. Rest up and give your body time to repair itself.

Happy to hear you are at home, where you have a chance to get some rest.

I had a 3 hour nap just now. My leg has a little swelling and bruising. Have been icing and elevating. Thank you all for your kindness.

Keep that icing and elevating going. It's a natural painkiller. Hope you can get some rest!

Glad you are doing well gosh I cannot imagine being awake for the surgery, I told my anesthesiologist if I woke up at all somebody was going to die! So does the hip dysplasia mean you will heal normally with the hip replacement? Just curious…

@gaulsurou i believe I will heal ok. The surgeon didn't say otherwise.
@Jacey I'm icing and elevating for sure. I have drainage still happening, guess that will be a day or 2 yet

@cpollock I'm glad your doing well. I do get tired of sleeping on my back though I'm a side sleeper or rollarounder. I'm up before anyone else this morning so I have to wait for my tea. I promised I wouldn't do the 7 stairs to the kitchen alone.small price to pay. Have a wonderful day!

@cpollock I'm up on all my exercise the leg spreading one on my back is the toughest one. No bowell movement yet. My dressing is waterproof and was told it will fall of in a week.

@cpollock So glad you are doing well! It gets better from here! Once you are home, you'll be able to sleep more. Remember that ice is your friend! You are doing great!

Thank you @Gone again my exercises are butt clenched 10 reps for 5 seconds 3 times a day, ankle pumps 60 reps every hour but that's not happening, and heel slides which I need help doing. Are you on tramacet? I take 2 every 6 hours. No bowel movement yet, are you taking anything for That? I just had my dressing changed and my blood thinner needle. Icing, elevating and going to nap.
@Cisne thank you for your encouragement. I got home yesterday at 1 and getting bursts of sleep.

It sounds like you are doing well. I did very few exercises those first couple weeks and don't do many now either. My surgeon said the same thing Josephine says that we don't need exercise for our hip to heal and recover. Just don't overdo or you can end up with extra aches and pains. I'm sure you're glad to be home. Sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy uneventful recovery

@cpollock They have me on oxycodone 2 types one every 12 hours .second one as needed every 4 hours. Stool softener and blood thinner in pill form. I can do the exercises ankle pumps, quad sets, buttock squeeze, heel slides and hip abduction. 10 reps twice a day. Hip abduction is tough. I'm iceing probably 50% of the time. Getting up to walk a little every couple hours.still backed up.
