THR Cpollock Surgery June 19, 2017<

I am sorry your husband was so harsh about it maybe I'm the only one but I think the yelling not looking at you and avoiding you that long was overkill ditto drunk. He is human and overwhelmed but hey I get it my husband can be mean at times. Again sorry.

That aside maybe make dinner and enough for him then invite him in he can come or not. Then do as you are do all you can do for you. Huge hugs.

Tummy bug last night was normal yay let's see how the next 24 go... I am afraid to eat much still lol

Thank you @Layla thank you for your thoughts. I do hope too that my husband comes around. I wish I could do more around do the house but that will come. With the walker it's awkward just going from point a to b. It's hard to be patient at times, it's a long healing process and I think considering the shape I was in before surgery that I have come a long ways. Baby steps. I wish you well. Cheryl

Thank you @MyAussieGirl this being Friday and this started Wednesday I'm not sure Gary will come around. I tried earlier and he just raised his voice again so conversation is over before it starts. I'm doing okay and managing. No I'm not able to make a whole meal yet from scratch. I would have to go out to the garage with my walker to find something to unthaw and then hope the ingredients in need are on the higher shelves in the fridge or pantry. All cooking stuff is in the bottom of the Island etc.... I was told I wouldn't need to worry about cooking so I didn't organize these kinds of things. Oh well.... things have a way of working out.
I too hope your tummy Bug has buzzed off. Maybe try smaller portions for a bit and see how it goes. Good on the probiotics too. Are you taking a couple throughout the Day?

@cpollock I will PM you later I am in the car. I hold on stand his behaviors are uncalled for. Just fix yourself what you can....still I know it doesn't help when you're treated like that.

I am taking just one probiotic pill as the Urgent Care doctor told me too.

Hugs will talk later.
Prayers too

Cheryl,
An idea....Not sure if you have meal delivery services in Canada as they do in the US. Here in the states we have everything from boxed meals including all ingredients....all you need to do is chop, assemble, cook. Another option are freshly prepared meals that you just heat and eat. If it's within your budget it may be an option to consider for a week or two as your mobility continues to improve. It may help you feel less dependent on your husband and help his stress level dissipate.....just thoughts.

Yeah, we stress out our loved ones... And it's just the stress of the whole situation. Can't wait till he apologizes to you cuz unlike the probably more correct and pragmatic of our crew, I hope he realizes you have been through alot and don't need to feel like a burden. AND we all know that 9 times out of ten if the shoe r was on the other foot, the male of the species is a MUCH bigger baby than we are. But don't let it live rent free in your mind... Not good for you.
Also, never take relationship advice from me. I've been married and divorced 3 times. Hope all gets cooled off soon!!!

Zsa, Zsa.....I mean @Mojo333 you're so open, honest and lovable I gotta laugh.
Full disclosure, I'm right behind you....only the 3rd time has been a charm for me.....after some rough times.
Here we are on Bonesmart airing our dirty laundry. If nothing else maybe it will offer someone comic relief.
While I'm obviously no expert on the subject I'd like to think experience has taught me a smidge!

Haha @Mojo333 I think we are supposed to be focusing on our recoveries, hehe. Thanks for your outlook, I appreciate it. I've been managing OK. I had cottage cheese, some black olives, and a leftover piece of pizza. I'm getting good at hauling things around with the walker.
And you too @Layla thank you for your share.
I'm focusing on relaxing this evening, watching some friends on Netflix and playing on my tablet. I will do some walking again soon send I'm going to bed by 9. I've been awake since 5 so kinda tired.
I wish you all well. Cheryl

@cpollock Hi Cheryl. My wife thought maybe I was a drama queen when I had my first hip replaced. Do doubt it was a hardship. I'm the cook.
She had her shoulder replaced in April. Now she knows I wasn't acting.

Thank you for the kind words.

I will echo what others are saying, your recovery should be your number one priority. If you can't take care of yourself, how can you take care of two people?

I feel like I am a cheater when it comes to this recovery. I read about the difficulties people are having, and I feel like I somehow cheated, even though I didn't.
I was in fairly good shape before I had surgery this time. The first time I was not. 9 months before my first hip replacement, I basically quit doing anything physical. I had just gotten promoted at work, we were building a new house, I had a lot going on including depression because I knew deep down my running days were over. Running was my drug, my escape.
So this time I worked out until the day before surgery. The good thing about recovering from surgery, is sometimes you can come out of it in better shape than you went in. If nothing else, that pain is gone.
I am sending some good karma your way. Hang in there.

Thing is... You are one month out. Things are getting better and we get less dependant every day.
My hubby (who I have been with for 16 years now... So I DID finally get it right) was the only family member that is retired so my dad had right TKR one week after my surgery and he stayed at hospital with him, leaving me alone alot during day. I had a big bowl of chicken salad all my own in Tupperware bowl that I would dig chips or crackers in and used to keep lots of grapes on hand to nibble on. The meds made my mouth so dry and I never liked grapes all that much before... But they were so cold and good to me for first month or so. Plus I had major constipation issues so tried not to pile up dense food too much.
You are doing great Cpollock... You have a great attitude and that will get you far.

HimCarol! Just checking in to see how things are going. Please rest and take care of yourself. Housework and the like can wait. Sending hugs.
Michele

Hi @Mojo333 thank you for your encouragement, I appreciate it. I had a good sleep and my outlook is much better this morning. I feel good, my incision area is side and hip a and hip a little stiff. I'm just having my 2nd coffee then going to fix my smoothie. I wish you well. Cheryl

Hi Carol.
Thinking of you this morning and hoping this day finds you relaxed and at peace.

I did the Chicken Salad thing just as @Mojo333 did.....after that it was cold Tuna Salad, with other meals mixed in between. Those two salads were easy go to meals, convenient to plop on a plate or into a bowl. My mom brought the Chicken Salad over and I think I ate a bit of it for lunch, dinner and even breakfast the next morning. It was so easy and just hit the spot for some reason. Probably the perfect mix of protein, carbs and fat.
I should ask some people on Bonesmart if they've tried Bone Broth. My nutritionist suggested I drink a mug each day.....which i did for the first week till I ran out. Supposed to be very healing. My sister made some for me. I couldn't have done it myself at that point and I'm still not feeling that ambitious!
Hope you have a great day!

Thank you @ Layla. I am making a list of simple things i can make. I read about bone broth and it has to be made from scratch for the real benefits. And very good for your health too. I'm doing ok and I hope you are too. Cheryl

HI there @GrannyC Thank you for the positive cheery thoughts. I'm sending them right back at you.

I had about 6 hours sleep last night so I may need a short nap sometime today. My hip is sore, the muscles and incision area. The swelling is still hanging in. Tomorrow is physio again and we will be working on massaging the incision. That may make a difference though they said it was to prevent adhesions. More walking on the agenda today and a shower. I wish you all well. Cheryl

Hi everyone. This is day 29 I believe... time is sure moving along. I've been sleeping better at night and usually take half a zoplicone sleeping pill. I take extra strength Tylenol, 1000mg in the morning and at night. If I feel I need a midday dose I take it but haven't needed to the last few days. I've had some zingers on the side of my hip the last few days but find moving helps. I was told at physio yesterday that I'm still to use the walker another 2 weeks about as per my surgeons orders. And not to use the cane either. She said I'm not ready until I can stand on my operated leg 1 minute. I'm not really able to take more than a few steps on my own without limping but do feel I'm improving daily. Considering I was close to wheelchair bound prior to surgery. I was told my right leg is strong and bigger than my left which needs strengthening but will come the more I use it. I've been favoring it for years and need to concentrate on using it equally with the right. I'm to jiggle along my incision a couple minutes a day to improve blood flow znd healing too. The incision looks good and healing well. I hope you're all doing well. Cheryl

So good to hear your progress Cheryl! I wanted to contact you yesterday to see how you're doing. I'm always curious about those who experienced surgery within a couple weeks of mine, before and after. You sound good and as though you are progressing as expected.

My big outing is today....First PT and first visit to the doc. I'm nervous like a first date! Haven't applied makeup in 3 weeks, worn normal clothes, been in a car etc. I just want all to go well. I'm excited and anxious all at once.
I'll be kind of relieved once it's all over.

I wish you continued healing a a peaceful day.
