TY Cheryl....Josephine is so informative!! I read last week her info regarding the PT being too much!! I took her advice and did say no and cut back on the exercises because I could feel pain and it felt better right away!! I am doing what my body allows me now and the walking has been great!! Icing and elevating and resting too!! Tx Cheryl for always looking out for me!!! You are so caring!!

@Donnarita yes it's good we can look out for each other.. you too @Layla
We are each responsible for what we allow and can say no. I'm still dealing with the lower left side pain but is better than it was. I'm focusing on walking. I think I may get company tomorrow, I would have thought my sons would have checked on me more but I know own they're busy and know I'm good hands I suppose. Even a text to me or their Dad to see how I'm doing.... must be part of the post op blues to feel like this.
Thanks for being thoughtful everyone. Cheryl

Aww, Cheryl it will pass. I've had a few of those low moments in all of this but they seem to pass quickly.
I'll bet your sons are busy just as you mentioned, time just getting away from them. Maybe they'll be more communicative now that it's the weekend. Sounds like your hubby takes very good care of you and you know you have all of us here should you feel down, lonely, need a listening ear or some encouragement.
Wishing you a day filled with love, peace and comfortable relaxation!

I'm sure your sons are thinking of you. Time passes slowly sitting here. My daughter brought me a little drone helicopter to play with. Something to do instead to tv.my wife just cringed and said whatever I break I have to fix. That will keep me buisy. I better find the glue. LOL

@Layla I'm OK now. It was just a little pity party I was on but it's all good this morning. I'm grateful for my family and have no doubts about their love for me. It's all good now.
@Gone again You are right. It's the extra time we have on our hands. I'm going to read some off and on today and maybe work on the cushion cover the I was knitting last year. I've been playing some games on my tablet and watching TV in between walking and basic things.
I slept 6 hours last night then up to the washroom. I got a new gel pack a day went back to bed a couple more hours. Have a good day everyone. Happy healing. Cheryl

how many exercises are you supposed to be doing each day and how many times.
Short answer here is NONE! I never did any exercising, not even so much as a single heel slide, for either knee and I got excellent outcomes both times. I recommend you read my recovery thread to see how little exercising I did for either knee! Knee recoveries UK style Parts I & II (Josephine)

Sometime soon, with a professor friend of mine, we are hoping to engage in a programme of research to demonstrate this simple truth! I can't wait!

@cpollock ... glad to hear that you are progressing well. I can understand the pity party too well, but from the pre-op end. I am sure that your sons are thinking of you and you are very fortunate to have your husband take such good care of you. I will be relying on total strangers next month for my post-op care (hired home health care for the first week, or two).

Your progress has certainly been encouraging to me:loll:

Like you, I was feeling really anxious about my surgery (originally scheduled for July 11th). In the last week, my pain has 'suddenly' gone from fairly manageable to off the charts! At the point where it is difficult to walk at all and I am so ready for the surgery!!!

Leaving to visit my Dad on the east coast on Wednesday for two weeks and then surgery on August 15th:heehee:

I think my biggest anxiety now is not only traveling with such pain, but ensuring that my apartment will be correctly set up for the post-op recovery.

@Josephine My OS told me the very same thing for my hip surgery - no exercise needed!!

@Lerwick8 thank you for your support. You certainly have a road ahead yet before your surgery but it will be here before you know it. Will you have a hip clinic to attend before your surgery. At mine
I was set up with everything I needed.
@GrannyC I feel much better since following Josephine's advice.
My son Myles and my daughter in law Sarah came out to see me today and we visited and ordered pizza. That made my day and lifted my spirits. I just realized I missed your afternoon tylenol. I'm going to wait and hour and take them then closer to bedtime. I'm hoping to hear from Jeff and his family tomorrow so we will see. I walked a fair amount around the house today. I hope you're all doing well. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl! So glad that you had a family visit and pizza :loll:

Wow! That is great that you were set up with everything beforehand. We do not have a hip clinic as such, only a pre-op orientation where they tell you what to expect and a long list of things to purchase (e.g. toilet seat riser, walker, etc).

I have a bit extra to do as most of my furniture is too low. I will need to raise the height of my bed with risers and get a recliner.

Have a great evening and get some sleep!

@cpollock way cool on family pizza party beats the blues. Trust me I had my fair share. I didn't get any of my alerts I am perplexed. None the less I see you're busy here ...Hugs

@Lerwick8 They gave me my walker at the hospital before I left and luckily for me it was covered under insurance. I already had a cane so I didn't need one of those. I'm not sure about whether they will cover a toilet seat riser or not. There should be someone at dr office or hospital who can tell you that ahead of time. You might want to have something ready to attach to walker when you get home so you can carry things with you like your meds, phone, a drink or snack, etc.. I made a bag to hang from the front but others use a small bicycle basket which you could get at Walmart or Target or many other stores. The other thing that came in handy was a dressing stick which I got from Amazon and it cost around $11. Then I also bought a set of gel packs from Amazon but I saw somewhere that someone found some at a dollar store which means they only cost $1. Mine were substantially more than that but they worked great and stayed cold quite some time.

Hi Cheryl,
What a mood lifter.....pizza and some family love!
Hope today finds you at peace, comfortable and happy.
Hugs!

@Lerwick8 thank you for your comments. Does your area have a place that loans equipment Out? I got a bench transfer seat, toilet riser with bars, walker, cane, pick up tool, and a small bed rail. We have the red Cross and ajs loan cupboard that will lend these items out. There are some ideas on this site about raising recliners or chairs so they're suitable for sitting. Good luck.
@MyAussieGirl the visit yesterday was great for sure. Now shortly my other son Jeff is coming this afternoon with his wife Dark and Noah who is 6 and Everleigh who is 1. It will be great to see the grandkids, I miss them. Thanks for the hugs. Hugs back at ya.

Hi Cheryl! I am glad that you are having more social/family time today. I think it really does have a very positive impact on one's recovery.

Thank you for the advice on the post-op supplies. I will certainly check out any loan options that may be available in my area.

Have a wonderful time today:flwrysmile:

@Lerwick8 You may want to try places for seniors or disabled even Health Dept they know the places to call I got all my stuff on loan minus the slider in to shower but the loan rate wasn't too bad it was 15 a month and Though if am old I'm not that old.
