LeeApril26 If you type on a regular keyboard does it help? I find that on a regular keyboard, I don't use my thumbs much except for the space bar....When you use the iphone/ipad, do you use your thumbs to type? That's how my girls do it. Maybe if you used your pointer finger it would relieve the work load on the thumb...I'm just thinking. I wonder if 'gamer's thumb' is a tendonitis? If so, my tendonitis is very painful, so I would imagine all tendonitis can be very painful. Either way, it hurts you, and resting is the best thing for it. Also the ice will help - (especially if it's a pretty color.) :)
I hope the rose hips help. There's also a rose hip tea that you can try - I don't remember how it tastes, though.
Good luck with it, poor thumbs..

Thanks ByGosh. I do use my thumbs when I am on my iPhone/iPad, and was having trouble with my laptop, but finally figured out how to reset the electrical system. It wasn't recharging. I looked up gamer's thumb and ignoring it can lead to permanent damage, so I am trying to be careful. I bought a passion fruit -rose hip tea, but also ordered rose hip pills from Swanson. It is supposed to help the OA in the joints but not the nerves and tendons in the thumbs. It is harder to ice it, because the skin is much thinner than my hips, for sure!!! I get very cold very quickly.
I look very tough with two black wrist/thumb braces.

ByGosh hey there! You are going to start some kind of new "keep up with ByGosh" trend with all the wisdom teeth preparations! I'll bet your kids had this level or creativity from Mom their whole lives! You know, boys are no fun to dress-- sigh. Go to a yard sale or the thrift shop (when very young) and pick out some shirts, roveralls, and shorts. The. End. I went thrift shopping for a great-niece for Christmas one year and came home with armfuls of the most adorable things-- that's what i call shopping for clothes:rotfl: She is now a lovely and creatively dressed 18-yr-old, whereas my grown boys...well...they wear shirts, jeans, and shorts. :umm:
LeeApril26 poor thumb! I'm glad you got your laptop going again. What's your secret to resetting the electricals? My son bought his girlfriend a bluetooth (I think) keyboard for her iPad

something like this. Isn't it funny, they work so hard to sell us a tiny little computer, and then they charge us extra when even the youngest and tech-iest and earliest adopters find that they need the traditional accessories. Reverse irony or something. I read an article recently about some kind of computer interface that reads your hand motions so you can run the computer by keeping your hand in a small area in front of the screen and moving it just so. The reviewer said that it was tiring to do that. New stuff just because they can, I don't get it! Let's hope this has some practical application to, say, bionic prosthetics or something.
Wow. Where did all that come from LOL?

ByGosh I got the Wedgewood roses a long time ago when I was stationed in Germany. I had a boyfriend that bought me one every payday for a few years, I wonder whatever happened to him....:) . I think they are porcelain and have quite a few chips now from all the moving around.

I am pretty sure that I will hear from the doctor or his staff either Tuesday or Wednesday. His office is pretty structured on what days they do things, guess they have to be as a teaching hospital. Now if he could only stay on track with the appointments. If they don't call, once he reviews MRI, I will be able to see the report on my electronic health records and just read it myself, with help from my BS friends. As I might have mentioned before, I studied numbers not anatomy :yikes:

Hope the swirl ice pack turns out, you should post a few pictures. Who knows, you might start a trend and then a company, then you can go on Shark Tank and have them invest, become a millionaire, then take us all on a wonderful charted cruse.....oh sorry....was day dreaming. At this point can I still blame the drugs :)

ByGosh I was away at my daughters last week and had very little time on the I Pad to keep up with you.Did you get any results from the scan you had ?
LeeApril26 I use a stylus for both the I Pad and my phone as I have OA on my thumbs and I find they work really well.

Kim22. Where did you get the stylus? That's a great idea.
zauberflöte. I found something about resetting the SCM which is the small electrical stuff, and it involved quitting, stopping and restarting several times. I have an intel based Mac so cannot remove the battery, but if you can, that is supposed to work, too.
You're right that they have increasing expenses and complexity. In 1984 I bought a second hand Apple IIe that I could take it apart. Of course it had 1000 times less power than my phone-not an exact number but you get the idea.

LeeApril26. I use something called Tiger Balm ultra strength. It's all natural and comes in a tin and has the consistency of a thicker Vaseline but not greasy at all. You massage it in and it is very penetrating. It works great!! I've tried them all having several herniated discs (3 lower back herniated discs, 2 mid back bulging discs and 2 herniated discs in my neck). The Tiger Balm really works great! I believe it would work for you. It can be found in any all natural store like a kimberton whole foods.

Kim22. Thanks. I ordered a stylus from Amazon, too. Great idea.
sandpiper. I have been alternating the Elmore Oil and Tiger Balm, but I think the nerves/tendons are just very inflamed. Thanks very much for the kind suggestion, though. Will persist with the TIger Balm and hope for the best.

ByGosh the forum is misbehaving terribly at me

Over the weekend I didn't get any new alerts... everyone seemed unusually quiet

ByGosh I hope you're feeling better and I'm also thinking about your daughter and her wisdom teeth. When is/was the big day? I hope all is well in your home.

Nancy

Over the weekend I didn't get any new alerts... everyone seemed unusually quiet

I have not been getting many alerts either. Maybe everyone is busy but us :boohoo:
nmay51 LeeApril26 well, I can't count by the alerts, sometimes I let them pile up for 3-4-5 days while I just head to people I want to see specially, in the time I have here.. (like you ByGosh ! I hope young Goshette's wisdom teeth went smoothly, and I continue to hope for better times for you :) ) My problem is primarily extreme slowness to load-- I don't know what combination of things is conspiring against me here, but I wait for what seems like ages but is really only 10 seconds for a page, a "like", a post, anything, to load. And it seems like 5-15 seconds is the limit the forum will stay logged in, unless I check "keep me logged in". I'm betting it's a compatibility issue with something I have on my laptop here, but I don't know what. Forum worked fine on my desktop...
