Annie I've never been given restrictions. Don't know if a roof counts. Lol. I have the scar diagonal at my bum, does that mean it's posterior?. I don't even know that.... as long as it doesn't hurt, surely that's a good sign?

Aud - I suspect that your Dr didn't quite realise he had to add in something like climbing a roof as a restriction! I'm around the same mark as you, and also starting to take the stairs like a big girl. I didn't even realise I was doing it until I was halfway down the stairs at the weekend, then had to really think about what I was doing so I didn't mis-step and fall. My feeling is if your body is telling you it's ready for the stairs, and it doesn't hurt, go for it. One of the exercises the physio gave me last week was standing on one leg, in order to get the hip used to bearing my weight, so I reckon it's a similar exercise?

Hey Audball How are you now? Sounds like you're doing well, lifting that leg up and all. You're ready for the Rockettes, I think. Radio City Music Hall watch out!:)

Oh nooo Alex alexthecat, Aud will never get back to work if she gets addicted to Pocket frogs. Hubby asked me what the book was for that I keep next to me on the couch, I had to admit it was my froggie lists  .. He couldn't believe it and now thinks I am a complete saddo!!

Aud, I am really surprised you have not got any restrictions but that is brilliant that you don't.....although I would hazard a guess that climbing onto shed roofs would certainly be one :heehee: They are a bit of a pain. Yes, it sounds like you had a posterier.

Maybe we need an article in the library about how to taper off Pocket Frogs.

Anyway, Aud could start her frog farm now and, once she gets to higher levels, she can just breed high-value frogs that take a whole work day to hatch.

Okay.... now I'm curious. . What's pocket frogs? I get internet on my phone.... whether I work at work might be a different matter.. lol

I was thinking earlier, I'm getting about fine, can stand on one leg, can lift legs when lying.... it's walking in a straight line without falling over I can't seem to master. Roflmao. :gaah:

Pocket Frogs is a free game app for your phone or tablet. Just do a search for it. It only works on mobile devices, so probably no frogs at work.

Its my phone I use for the net at work. Lol. Galaxy s though.... mmmmn. Do I look in my apps?

Look in the Play Store for the Android version of the game.

About walking... it takes a huge amount of coordination. I think we take that for granted sometimes. Your hip has experienced a lot of surgical trauma. Just keep doing what you're doing (except climbing on the roof) and you'll get there.

Lifting your operated leg, and being able to stand on it, are exercises to help build up everything in the hip that supports the new joint. As alexthecat says, the key is really thinking about how you walk now, and practicing that around the house. Look at yourself walking and standing in the mirror and try and correct what you see - I'm still bending my body when I stand, and limping (spending less time on my operated leg) when I walk, so I have to concentrate on correcting those. At my stage post op, walking isn't about getting from A-b, its about improving my walks and exercising those muscles.

sorry was that a bit preachy?

FB I think I've been walking funny for so long, now I need taught how to walk correctly. Ha ha..... need a babywalker. Lol

I'm the same. I have limped for so long, I do it automatically. I have to really think hard about trying to correct it now - walking has never required so much physical and mental effort!

My husband suggested that if it helped, I could go to Tesco every day to push the trolley as my therapy. I kid you not...

Sorry, yes, Tesco is a supermarket. It's where we went after I came off crutches - to celebrate.
In fairness, it's opposite the hospital, has a coffee shop, is indoors (ie no snow) and an even floor.

I look so ghastly these days (chalk white face, black rings round eyes, infrequently washed hair) that if I went to Harrods they'd think I was a rock star...

Chris that sounds like a good idea. And if you're a rock star..FB...... I would look like a millionaire. .. on a dress down day. Lol
Aud.
