Sounds like you are doing very well for just over two weeks... slow and steady in these early weeks :)

Thanks Poppet, i'm trying to keep it slow. Sitting here chilling to 10cc.

I think staying at home with your feet up sounds like a good safe thing for you to do for awhile. I have gone out with my husband to dinner one night, other than that I had to make the 1 1/2 hour trip to see my doctor. On the way home we stopped for dinner and then I wanted to check out a store. I have a horrible muscle cramp in my leg that I had to cut that shopping short. We are thinking about going to a movie this evening but everything I do I am very careful and take things slowly and I keep my husband close. I know what you mean about being so used to pain in your hip/leg that it's easy to just carry on but now you're healing so you do have to take it easy.

Hubby wanted to go see a film, but the thought of sitting all that time was too much tonight..... i'm knackered. :mcoffee:

Ah, good point Audball, I hadn't thought that far ahead. I was sitting here last night with cabin fever, and decided to start lobbying for a trip to the cinema as it seemed achievable (can drive there, take a lift to the screen, etc). I hadn't quite thought about having to sit for a prolonged period in an uncomfortable seat that will possibly break the 90 degree rule. Perhaps I could get one of those toddlers booster seats?

Or take cushion.... some of our cinemas have areas you could move about without disturbing anyone. To keep blood flow in the legs.
And big comfy seats to stretch legs so you don't break the rule.

Audi, you asked about what kind of exercises might be helpful...here's a link that might help broken link removed: https://www.andersonclinic.com/files/hip_replacement_book.pdfbroken link removed: https://www.andersonclinic.com/files/hip_replacement_book.pdf I believe the exercises start on page 13.

sandybeach sansabosa & Audball too,

Hey, this is the "Little Book of Horrors" that I was given (in 2009) by my OS and refer to in my thread!! :) I will share that aside from the pre-op exercises I am not sure that the post-op ones are what were given by the time I had my surgery in 2011.

Here's a couple threads from the library with some post-op exercises too:

Exercise websites for THR

Exercises to strengthen the hip joint

Also sending you this link Activity Progression for THRs even though you are about half way through the timeframe mentioned, it's a nice reminder that you aren't supposed to be climbing ladders or fixing household items -- indoor or out...:heehee: At three weeks out from your surgery you are really supposed to still be wearing your comfy clothes and taking it easy -- once Mom gets dressed and starts doing her usual activities there is no going back and the family assumes that you are all better...

Take care,
Cardie

Cardie that is so true. They think I'm back to normal. Im going to read you're stuff once I get peace. X

Just checking up on Aud, not that I don't trust you but you never know, you might just decide to go crazy and fix something on the house roof next, what with you being so keen on DIY :rotfl:

Good to hear you are taking it easy

Take care

Ann.x.

Hi ...let the mods advise you about exercise....but no harm with foot pumps...clifford

Nope. I've been good.... not a roof in site. Had a bit of a teary anxious day yesterday. Because it had started to snow here, I felt a bit trapped and emotional. But back on track today. X..... no cabin fever today.... but at least the roof would be on. :ok:

Oh my god, I just caught your thread. Aud... don't do it!! Don't go on that roof again! Go back to lounging around and looking weak, very weak. Tell them you had a brief mental breakdown, a lapse in judgment brought on by your meds. Your lot should be babying you for a few more weeks so that long term, you can go back to babying them. Time to go on strike, get back into the fat pants, watch rubbish TV, veg out and allow yourself to feel blue, because that's a necessary part of your recovery. You will soon feel better....promise, but if you push yourself at this point: well, I don't want to think about it!! I am stressed out enough as it is, so don't you dare! Hang in there, you have a cheering section......

Thanks Vida. Just good having people to talk to who understand what you're goi g through and how you're feeling. X

Audball I hope you're having a good day today. I wonder how long the emotional days last. I have not a day but maybe an hour or so of all of the sudden I feel sorry for myself. Bad about not getting better quicker. I guess mourning my past life back when I could do everything. I know that I will soon be able to do that again but it's a ways off. We had surgery the same day so we're the same in the healing game although I know we all heal at different rates. It's good to voice our feelings with people who understand so continue to do so, we are going through this together.

Was having not too bad a day. Visited girls at work, amazed I was out. Lol. I think I'm just impatient. Then I got a phoncall to say that a oman who looked after me since I was small had died. Knew she hadn't been well but it hits you still and brings lots of memories out. Felt really sad. X
But at least I have lots of great memories stored from knowing her.
Aud

So sorry for your loss Aud. It always puts thing into perspective when we lose someone that meant a lot to us. Saying prayers for you dear.

Audball. Glad to see you are on the other side and progressing well. You give hope to those of us till on the PreOp side,
Suzanne

I`m so sorry. I feel for you Aud. Take extra care of yourself tonight.
