Revision THR Another Second Chance

I think there is also a question of pain tolerances. I apparently have a higher threshold than some. My aches might be someone else's intolerable pain, an 8-9
By all means yes. Then again, if you’re ‘used’ to the aches and pains regardless of sporting activity, that would still equate to a higher tolerance?

Hi @inthebeginning
I think you already got the message but you really do need to contact the office of your OS about the TEDS.
Your OS's nurse, or PA, should be able to call you back with that info. The protocol varies so widely and you need to follow your surgeons advice.

Please take it slow. I understand it's difficult but with the revision and all you want to get this right, not jeopardizing proper healing or taking chances that could cause an accident. We want you well! :old:
End of lecture.
Have a great weekend!

I thought your striptease post was funny but I totally get what Layla is saying. You're (ahem) older with this hip, this hip is different, things change in a matter of 6 years. Broken record, safety first! :ok:

So glad you were more reassured by the doc... it must be a relief..
As for the Teds... I had to wear them for 4 weeks along with 4 weeks of blood thinning injections...
I really think it’s up to the surgeon... not sure if it’s to do with the approach. Best to check.
You are doing really well with the walking .. BUT.... well, you know!
Everyone’s has commented.. please don’t over do it!!

Hard to say... the bottom half of the stem was ‘less loose’. Perhaps the porous surface coating had wore off, or was left in the bone?
From the Operative Report: “Loose stem with obvious fibrous ingrowth, stem was easily removed manually with little or no difficulty”.

Bit of a rough nite. The step counter on my wrist has me creeping a little higher each day.

My son had the last lacrosse game of this season yesterday, so I really wanted to be there. Of course it went into double overtime! They unfortunately lost. He now has two basketball games today, luckily back-to-back. Then it is off to my bro-in-law’s place for a Kentucky Derby party and dinner with family.

Overall, the swelling is done except for just around the wound! The pretty blue/purple/green color is just about gone as well! Took my 3rd shower this morning and it was great!

There was a moment that scared me yesterday. I was getting into a big chair on the back deck to soak up some Vit D. Just as I started down, there was a big ‘pop’ deep inside the hip. No pain and I could still move it and put my allowed weight. Thinking with the swelling down so much, it was a tendon or ligament moving into place? It’s a bit sore this morning but not pain pain, more of a deep ache.

I feel like I’m still a good patient and can’t wait to see the doc on Monday!

Really, really wishing you'd slow your roll. I'm worried about you crashing, or suffering a set back.
I understand there's no tying some people down, but can't blame a girl for trying, right?
You're only 11 days out of major surgery. ELEVEN. Your body needs energy to heal properly and efficiently. Please give it what it needs. It's trying to do its thing and in my opinion, you're making unnecessary demands on yourself.

Check out the Activity Progression for THR, which is to be used as a rough guideline, and then please reflect on your activity level by comparison - https://bonesmart.org/forum/threads/activity-progression-for-thrs.13187/

Did you just look, laugh and say "child's play"? I think I heard you say that, lol.

It’s no good @Layla... he’s a naughty boy!! [emoji849]
But seriously you’ve got us all fretting... I couldn’t do all that and I am 6 weeks post op!!
Hope that ‘popping’ doesn’t happen anymore!!

@Layla Thank you so much! Don’t think I’ve ever discounted the deemed the process as ‘child’s play’. However, I really feel like I know what my body is capable of. I also have been through this before. I realize this one is different because it’s a revision, but still. I am in much better shape and have 60# less weight to put on it this time! I was riding my bike up to 3 days before the surgery.

I think some simple walking shouldn’t really hold me back.
