Revision THR Another Second Chance

Oh yum!!! I posted above before seeing all the updates so my reaction was about a day behind. Not sure why my phone is doing this tonight. Yours isn't the only thread I have now noticed it on. People are going to think now I've turned 59 I have dementia!

Happy you're feeling hopeful. Sorry you have to play the waiting game.
I hope the infectious control doc can offer you stronger reassurance in two weeks
Prayers you get the all clear.

My wife said in the way out of the office,” Between our two families, if there’s a 1% chance of anything, it will happen to us!”

:fingersx: for an all clear.
However you ARE barely over a week out from a revision surgery, so I wish you would please take it easy on the activity.:beg:
You can get back to it when healing is further along.
The body needs it's energy to do its thing, you know.
Glad you are able to rest better...now rest.:)

So, all those steps were mainly from having to go out to the docs office. Lunch was a bonus! We also had to drive up to the airport to pick up wifey’s sister. She’s visiting for the weekend from Los Angeles.

Rough night. I knew it would be. Got up this morning had breakfast and walked my daughter’s halfway to the bus stop. Things feel amazing today! I swear the more I move the better it feels. It’s slow going granted, but it’s movement.

My son has his last lacrosse game of the year today. Sis-in-law will drive me to it. It’s only 5 min away from home.

Have a great day!

Good luck to your son at the game and you be careful not to overdo it! I agree that sometimes the exercise does help get the blood flowing and feels good........but not always! You just have to have the magic key on when to stop, lol! Or else this happens :ice:

Exactly! Just as I told LABabyMama yesterday. There’s a fine line between just enough and too much!

How long am I supposed to wear the TED stockings? If I’m only actually reclining 2 hours at a time, can I ditch them except for night time?

Just like everything else on here, you will hear many different time frames for these! My OS said 4 weeks, I got rid of them at 3. I'm moving around a lot during the day also. I've seen some post that they've been told anywhere from to 6 to 8 weeks and yet some have posted they didn't have to wear them at all. You could check with your OS?

You could check with your OS?
I’ve searched through all of the post-op docs and can’t find anything that mentions how long to wear them. I would assume as you said, the more the patient is up and moving, the there’s probably less chance for blood clots to form. I have to remember I’m only 10 days out!

I was actually told 4 weeks from my OS at the hospital but it wasn't in any of the notes. I was also told to take aspirin everyday for a month as opposed to a blood thinning med. Really best to ask the doc especially since you are only at 10 days. Better safe than sorry, you don't want to ruin a good thing you've got going there!

I t seems every OS has different protocols. I have aspirin twice a day until tomorrow. No stockings required unless I wanted them for swelling. As SE Florida said, better check with your doctor. He may have specific reasons for wanting you to wear them for a certain period of time. We want you continuing to heal nicely.

@SarahBee It is so interesting to see how every OS differs..........I've wondered if it depends on what state/country we're in or what. It seems crazy to me. The same way with PT! I just read one post the other day......can't remember who posted it but they don't usually use walkers, only canes in their country. I'd be face planting every second of my recovery!

I didn't have to wear them but have thinners for 30 days - last one tomorrow. I was quite surprised and even questioned it because I have had 2 DVT's and a PE. I would be tempted to just quit wearing them but in truth you should ask your doctor because they have all the accumulated data on your health, surgery, etc.

Been reading my first post-op thread looking for benchmarks. Found this:
  • I've discovered something that may be useful to the more active or athletic people on BS. We deal with lots of aches and pains on a daily basis from working out, running, etc... A lot of the pain I'm getting in my leg right now are just really 'BIG' aches. I'm thinking that folks that may not be as active and not used to these aches may feel a need for more pain meds here in the first few days/week.
Interesting thought.

@SarahBee We would never derail @inthebeginning. His thread is way too entertaining to take our eyes off of!!! I'm sure he's wondered about the same things too......who hasn't! And I just read @Carriemay60 and I'm completely stunned at no TEDS since she's had DVT's and a PE. Frankly it seems that there should be one medical guideline that is standard for all replacements!

I think there is also a question of pain tolerances. I apparently have a higher threshold than some. My aches might be someone else's intolerable pain, an 8-9
