Revision TKR Against the wind

Thanks! Lounge Dr. seems to be the one. More expensive but reviews are good.
I've selected my Surgeon for the revision.
Diving back into another surgery is overwhelming at times. I'm hoping for a good outcome.

Good luck with your revision. We will be here on the other side when you need us!

It sounds like you will be in good hands.

Monday morning August 14 @ 5:00 AM heading to OASIS Orthopedic Hospital for revision surgery on my right knee. The replacement I had June 2016 essentially failed. So….being I’m not ready for the life of a disabled person I’m diving back in one more time. Essentially they’ll take all the hardware out and replace it. So..hoping for a solid outcome this time around! I’ve got a great surgeon who works on “difficult” knees. He believes he can improve my situation and I can return to golf and hiking after I recover. Recovery is long and hard but I’m willing to put in the time and work required. I'll continue my posting as I make my way through this.
A special thank you goes to my wife Marilyn for putting up with me for the last year as I’ve fought with my failed recovery and the fruitless rehabilitation. She’s now got to play nursemaid again. Poor girl! Thanks in advance for all the well wishes!
PS: Will I now get my posting changed to Revision? Maybe my journey will help some other struggling TKR who ends up on my path if they see Revision in the heading? Thanks!!

I guess I can leave the title the same....just put me in the Revision listing.
Thanks! Butterflies already and 24 hours out!!!

I'm 72 hours out after my revision surgery.

Removed (Zimmer) hardware and replaced it with a new Zimmer device. He said it was great fit and provides more stability for me. So I'm off and running. So far much lower levels of pain compared to last years operation. I stayed 2 nights and got back home yesterday afternoon. I have a motorized appliance attached/pump to the knee. I'll get manual out and post name of appliance later.

So far off to a great start but it's still has lots of pain and is just plain hard. I'm icing pretty much non stop, have 2 ice bags with a pouch and straps that the hospital gave me (I'm sure medicare paid for them.) Also a compression machine that's wrapped on both calfs and runs non stop except when I'm doing my exercises. Also I bought a wedge foam pillow.

I went a new orthopedic hospital and was very pleased with the total experience. If you're in Phoenix and do consider it.

So rest, ice, elevate, heel slides, ankle pumps, leg raises. More later.

glad you had a good experience at the hospital and now home. you know what to do. wishing you a good recovery with not too much pain.

Sounds like you're off to a rock solid restart. Happy to hear everything went so well!

I put in a request to change your title to revision, but with the forum undergoing changes it may take a day or so.

I'm glad to hear the pain is less than before. Is the attached pump for pain meds?

Thanks so much!
It's a "Incision Mgmt System" mfg. is Provena. The manual doesn't explain anything other than how to read the screen. Going to Google it.

I know you've been through this before, @skippyhak , but as a refresher, here is the recovery reading:
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now; they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
elevate
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)
don't overwork.
3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these
5. Here is a week-by-week guide for Activity progression for TKRs

We try to keep the forum a positive and safe place for our members to talk about their questions or concerns and to report successes with their joint replacement surgery. While members may create as many threads as they like in a majority of BoneSmart's forums, we ask that each member have only one recovery thread. This policy makes it easier to go back and review history before providing advice.

I'd really like to offer you some structured advice but in order to do that, I also need to ask you some questions. Are you willing for me to do that?
