I work with children too and really miss my class so much and can't wait to get back to them, sooner than later, hopefully!

Hi Laura, given your history I wouldn't recommend doing anything like yoga until you are cleared by your OS. Hamstring stretches and leg lift are OK. But any twisting or bending should be cleared by your OS.

Don't forget - this is only a temporary situation. A bit more healing and you will be back to what you love!

Hey Dianemarie! Yep those kiddos keep us young, right?:) Love & Peace to you as you recovery occurs! Laura

Hi All!
Thank you for the Posts and Info...

I had a Post on my email from a single Career Mom, a child with disabilities, but couldn't see the UserName?
Anyway, I hope she comes back to visit! I can tell her I have been single Mom, same...It is SO HARD!
What doesn't kill us makes us Stronger:hysterical:
That's what the Elders always told me!

All is well here, quiet weekend mostly indoors due to low low Temps, here. I do go out to get the sun, while it is up anyway...
I went to the gym, doing some steady but paced workouts.
Good News, I alternate days for workouts, and yesterday I had Good Sore. You know?

Thank God I had this done later in life, after my kids were younger! Somehow I just can't see them being little Girlie helpers:)
Welcome back Jo!:)

Hi Laura!

I saw the title of your thread and was intrigued. Our stories sound somewhat similar. I am now 16 weeks out from my revision. I also suffered from 2 dislocations. My dislocations were 13 months and 30 months post op - no warning and no apparent reason. For my revision they opted to change the femoral head to change the offset (which basically moved my leg out 4mm) and to change the liner to a "hooded" liner. It has a little lip on one area. They positioned the lip to where they thought the hip was levering out. They feel this will be the answer. The only additional information I have in the locking ring was that it does limit your range of motion. It is a pretty sure thing that your hip is gonna stay in place though. I ride horses and wouldn't be able to do that anymore with the locking ring so they wouldn't use it for me. I'm hoping I'm done with surgeries for a long while.

Remember you are recovering from a second major surgery and your body needs time. Be kind to yourself and take is slow. Stretching will come a little at a time, but don't over do it. Even if you are a yoga student you should go slow on that new hip.

Good luck and stay positive! I need to practice what I preach too, by the way! :snork:

Hello Margaret Sue!
Thank you for sharing your story! I appreciate hearing your take on the dislocations...Mine were 2 in roughly 48 hours...I somehow knew that this would continue. I was in that Brace to immobilize the joint. Even that did not work right up front.
Oddly, so far I am easing into good progress and range of motion. I'm going slow as to not push it too far.
Thanks too for the Reminder that I must go slow and steady.

I know you know how painful it is to Dislocate. I dislocated and Fell on the floor the first time. Too traumatic for me to go through many more times, you know?
I just feel like I will get some good range back. Not like I was, as a Yoga student and semi-athlete type....But good and solid so I can work out, do some fun things physically, and eventually in time make modifications to Yoga.

Thank you for stopping in! It always means a lot to get feedback!
Peace! Laura

Hi Laura,

Sounds like you are progressing well even though you are snow bound :)

Is it helping to have the colleague who has gone through TKR's ?

Thinking of you whilst I have an ice pack on in 31C here in OZ today... Still pretty warm at 10 pm

lots of love
xx

Hi ms Sandy...
I'm thinking down under is where I think it is  If so, that's always where I long to visit... I'm in the Arctic region at the moment. I don't know, I think I had some sort of life-changing experience this last go round. I can't think of any other reason, besides a Miracle, that I feel as good as I do...After 4 surgeries, all the trauma.

I'm still healing but it is solid and steady. I passed a stranger on the snow, headed into the Gym, he says out of nowhere "Slow and Steady", then smiles and walks on! Kind of wild, since everyone says that on here. My cognitive ability is a little fuzzy, still. I 'hope' that's normal?

Peace to you in OZ!
How you doing??
Laura

Hi Laura,

Yes, those kids do keep us young (at heart anyways!) I like your idea of the every other day workouts, that is how I seem to do my PT sometimes as I don't want to over do it again. Take care and keep up the good work!

Hi Laura

Wow we are at opposite ends.. Yes, I am in OZ...

You sound like you are doing fantastically well given what you have been through... I have been following your journey - well done honey :)

I am doing ok, I think 'slow and steady' is definitely my mantra. Some days I think I should be doing more so go ahead and then suffer, so back to my mantra. We all have such individual stories of how we got to the stage of having THR's and I constantly remember mine - thank you for asking xx

Well, it's Pizza night, No Diet night, No Exercise Night and I feel real OK with it:):th_heehee:

Hard day at work and my still somewhat fuzzy brain now REALLY feels more fuzzy!
Well, I would quit but I need to Work!
Makes good sense, right?
Besides, quitting is not my favorite thing to do!
Slow and Steady, Slow and Steady......

Yes Jaycey! Thank you for monitoring the Site...!
Slow and Steady...My Body will NOT allow it any other way:)
Probably a good thing, in my Case.
Yesterday was 11 weeks PostOp revision. I'm still 'fuzzy' with short-term memory and such. It's weird, but I recall this being a problem with the last hip. I believe it lasted several Months?

Peace & Thank You!!!

Hi Laura

Yum, yum pizza... We make our own in a pizza oven, it is a fun thing to do occasionally.

Short term memory loss and fuzzy brain... I can relate to that.. Thought it was just me :)

Glad all is going well in the Arctic xx

Fuzzy head stuff went on for several months in my recovery. Drugs, pain and dealing with the changes that the procedure creates - no wonder things are fuzzy :thud:!

Don't worry - the "fog" will clear. Just a bit of time needed!

Hi Laura

Wow! I couldn't sleep, last night so watched (and snacked) Prince Harry and the Army boys preparing to trek across the Arctic... It just filled me with so many warm and inspirational fuzzies and made me think of you up there :)

How long do you stay there in one stint?

How are you doing?

Sending love and prayers xx

Hi Sandy!
From the looks of things, I am here too long for Comfort:):hysterical:
Through May, actually...

I suppose I can do most anything for that amount of time.
I am still so Stiff and Sore...I am moving around a lot, but Stiff and Sore are the 2 adjectives that stand out for now.
11 weeks PostOp Revision .... No wonder??? I seem to forget it took me at least a YEAR on this last hip to feel okay and in Sync with my body.

So many brave people on here. I should be grateful and thankful
Peace to you !! Laura

Super Sore and Stiff Today....11 Weeks PostOp Revision & THR
Still Slow like the Turtle. People seem to blow by me when walking...
Patience. Patience. Time will Heal.

It's a roller coaster ride. Steps forward some days; steps backward on others. You'll get there....patience, patience, patience.
