You've got that right, one day at a time, in my early recovery sometimes it was one minute at a time. But we all get there...in it's own sweet time! Take care.

Gidday Laura..

Too me a bit of searching to find you xxxx

I so totally understand this energy drain thingy.. I have little spurts of energy, then whamo! - have to go rest! xoxoxoxoxo

Hi Sis (Diane), sound like we are well and truly sisters in the stamina and energy stakes xoxoxoxox

Hi All...

I am taking a break at Work to type.

I have had bad (Sore) kind of Pain in my Glute area/Hip Surgery side. Not so stiff, but pain.
I return to GA for a week and see Surgeon for follow-up.
16 Weeks, now.

I'm trying not to worry. It doesn't feel like that in front of Hip or Leg/groin.
It's in the back glute (Behind:)

Anyone had this? It is so very sore.
I'm hoping it is Healing from within. I went through a lot, so maybe it's so?

Thanks Ya'll:)
Laura

Hey Laura,

Sorry to hear you are having a pain! Have you been doing any new or different types of exercises or did you do any odd moves recently? I'm not that good on the muscle-nerve topic hopefully one of the team will pop in and offer some advice. Hope it heals up quickly!

Hope you are staying warm.

xxooxx

Hi Sarah!
Thanks for stopping in so quickly...I've been doing cardio, eliptical & recumbent bike every other day.
No odd moves that I can think of.

It is centralized sore pain in that back glute... surgery hip.
I left work early, came in, elevated surgery leg a bit which has slight swollen calf today. Not alarming swollen, just a bit.
Used my ice buddy and used it on glute for awhile, then calf, etc.

Going to go to sleep early, see if some extra rest can help.
I am doing very little pain medication, Advil only if needed.
I 'think' I am going to get ibupropen 800 and Tramadol scrips when I go back home for a week. Flight is ......, so I am a little anxious as well.

Healing, up & down:)
Laura

That sounds like Piriformis syndrome. Very common after major leg surgery.
Have a look in the article - there are some good stretches there which are the best treatment.

Ice is good but you need to rest it - and I mean completely rest it - for at least two weeks.
Walking is okay and maybe a little on the bike and all the upper body stuff of course.
But elliptical is the very worst thing you can do with PS.

You shouldn't need anything like Tramadol, just this Tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail.

Thank You, Jo,

This really helps ease my mind.
I will take this Advice!
And look it up...Resting today, just had to make
that executive decision:hysterical:

Many Thanks! Laura

P.S. Jo,

Is Tramadol considered a 'narcotic'?
I get mixed answers on this one...
It sort of boosted my Mood but not sure if it was the
drug or what?
Thank you!
Laura

It is a prescription pain medication in the USA, but not on the list of what is termed a "narcotic." It's quite possible that the "boost" you got from taking it was because it improved your pain management. That's what it's supposed to do!

Thank you Jo,
The Stretches have been helping and increasing my confidence in other ways. I miss stretching. I look forward to building back up to that in time. Lower back still challenging me with soreness.
Actually my body does not yet feel like it's back together, and my mind feels not connected to my Body!:)
Well, it will take TIME. I got banged up pretty much this go round.
I hope the soreness stops. Today it's in the front of the hip joint area. Just feels like Healing sore, not shooting pain or such?

Thank you very much, Laura

Hi Laura

Sorry you are experiencing pain. Let's hope when you have your Spring break, with some warmer weather it will make a difference and you can exercise outside :)
Lots of love and hugs xoxoxoxox

Hi Laura,
I am happy to hear that after that really difficult start you have moved forward so much. Your dislocations must have been really frightening. Did someone find you after your fall? In regards to the locking ring it does sound as if you made the best choice available to you at the time. Your surgeon sounds very experienced and it did sound from what you said that he had thought it through. I remember thinking after my op that even if I never got off the crutches it would have been worth it just to get rid of that grinding pain!

Longer term I would have found it very frustrating though. I do think that being happy and accepting of whats gone before has a powerful impact on your emotional healing- this is at least as important ( for me- even more important) as the physical healing. That isn't meant to undermine the physical healing in anyway and oftentimes being able to get back to a passion is in both emotional and physical domains. I loved hiking and cycling and there are many physical journeys that I would love to one day make. I do feel this "hip" experience has been in a league of its own as an emotional journey!! I have met some great people along route and learnt much about myself.
All the best to you
Gizmo

Hi Laura

Can't wait to hear how your break away from the snow is going, I do hope you are enjoying it.

How was the big long flight back home?

Just letting you know I am thinking if you and sending list of love xoxoxoxox

Hello Friends!
Thank you All for checking on me and your Interest in my healing.
I pray for all of you and your continued healing and health as well.

Plane flight was H-e-_ _:) I did a thousand leg pumps and got up throughout.

Celebration tho...I walked throughout the airport with my little backpack!
Last time, I was in a wheelchair!

Yes, Warmer weather is much better.
I have gained 8 lbs since being in Arctic Carbohydrate lack of Vitamin D3 WINTER:))
Oh well, I have lost 22, so I'm not going to freak out.

Tomorrow, See Surgeon! X-Ray will ease my mind regarding the Soreness.
It has eased some, but I took nurse Jo's advice and have been really backed off of any heavy Cardio. Just light walking.

I can walk up and down Steps now that seemed like Mountains not too long ago. So I suppose I am BLESSED!

Thank you Friends. Healing and Love to all of you!
Laura

Laura,
Sounds like you're doing great! Glad to hear the steps are much easier for you:) Hope everything goes well with your doctor visit!

Calling Laura.....

Are you back in the Arctic yet?

If so, how did the flight back go?

Looking forward to hearing from you and catching up on all the holiday news :)

Hi Laura

You are either still on leave, sunning it up, having a pat down going through all the airports or snowed in at the Arctic....

Can't wait to hear from you :)

Hey Sandy,

Did you get my long drawn-out email?:)

I am back to Arctic. It's pretty much melting a lot now. Not so beautiful but I won't complain. I was back in the sun down down South for 6 days. Here until May, then home 3 weeks. Then back out again, overseas.

Good solid X-ray at Surgeon's office. All looks good. I have avoided the Eliptical since that pain in the 'rear' muscle flare up. Just bike and treadmill. All is well, I'm kind of neutral. Not too high or too low which in my case is a good outcome:th_heehee:

Still pretty much going Slow and STeady. No other choice, since my body says forget it! How are you feeling?? I sent you email to your other email. Thanks for checking in! It truly is One Day at a Time.

This time next year we will be moving out pretty darn good!
Laura

Hi there Laura

You sound like you are doing very well, I am so pleased for you. I sent you virtual flowers via express email... Not sure if they managed to get there? Hehe!

I'm with you nice and slow and just get excited about the small achievements, and that is fine for me right now.
Be careful, with all that melting snow around, no slips, trips or skids :)

Lots of love xxxxx
p.s. I didn't get your email?
