I'll be following how it goes so please do let us know Laura.

Hey All...
I made it on the Plane(s) with wheelchair assistance all the way...This sure did save my Energy!
Back to work in new environment today, different names and faces...

One day at a Time...I keep seeing all this snow and athletic sports like Ice skating and Snow skiing.
Guess those days are over, since I have 2 new Hips now. I'm a bit sad about this, but I am Grateful to walk again without Pain.
And today, even in the bitter cold, I had no Pain! Just 800 mg of Ibupropen.

I loved to Ice Skate and snow Ski. I wonder about the Cross country Skiing on flat ground?
Not now, at just 9 weeks Revision Post-Op...but some day?
Guess I'm just a little down about it all...

Laura

Laura....don't despair. You are still early in recovery and the chances are VERY good that you can get back to these things that you love. Wait to see how wonderful those hips are this time NEXT YEAR!

Hi Laura

So pleased you made the trip with help... It's kinda good you know to let other people do things for us, open doors etc... I spent several years with my walker and remember so much embarrassment and a sense of feeling old at first and then I started to enjoy it... just smiled at them and thanked them and suddenly they wanted to do more to help... my walker had it's advantages...

I can relate to going to a new work environment, essentially I started a new job in Sept and spent only about a month there before all my hip fun began. I go back next Tuesday, but tomorrow (which maybe today here in OZ ) I will be thinking of you... I am sure you will be fine, and quickly assimilate into the new environment.

I too love skiing, mainly cross country for me and who knows I might had that to my list of long term goals - you should keep the dream alive Laura. We will eventually be able to do so much, perhaps modified, but will still do the activities...

Have a read of my "smiling" post on my thread from yesterday, sending lots of love and big hugs ((((h)))

I agree with Jamie Laura. Hip replacement is not a life sentence. It's a new beginning. You are still very early out. By this time next year I'll bet you will be planning that ski trip!

I'm with Jaycey! I have skied, both downhill and cross-country, with my new hip. See my avatar? That's me after a day of cross-country skiing about 9 months post-THR. I could have skied sooner but there wasn't any snow. :wink1:

Just give yourself some time to heal and I think you will be surprised at what you can do.

Yay!!! Thanks you All for the feedback and Encouragement!
You are so right...Goal for next year....
They are very into Cross Country where I am working.
Not so much back home, since it's much warmer.
I am happy to hear that with Time Time Time, I can possibly do some of my Winter sports again someday and somehow!

Thanks you ALL ... You Rock!:)
Laura

Hi Laura,

I admire you so very much! Sounds like you're in a new work environment with lots of new people and faces. This, in and of itself can be such a challenge.

Combine it with the physical challenges you've been through and wow........

I'd like to get you a brand new mug

It will be amazing to look back a year from now and see how much progress you've made. I've no doubt you'll be doing some amazing things!

Hi Shawna!
That cup is SO fantastic!
I love it!
It made me chuckle for sure:)

I am a lot more accepting of my world and my part in it, as a
result of all these past surgeries...
I guess I just surrendered, finally.
I am feeling a bit bulky and slow, but I know I am still healing and will
be for quite awhile.
I long for my old body, but I must come to accept this new one...You know?:)
Bet you do!
How are you doing?? How are you feeling??
I need to be better about reading Posts .. I will catch up this weekend.
Love & Peace to you!
Laura

Hi Laura,

Surrender...... yes indeed, I know my new friend Surrender quite well.

[Bonesmart.org] 6 Weeks post-Op with Locking Ring due to Dislocation

One thing I noticed early on is once I mourned the loss of the 'old me' and let go of the need to "get back to my old self" and began to be curious about my "new me" and my new 'normal', my depression really lifted.

Now I'm excited for growing into my 'new normal' and hopefully that will be much less painful that my 'old normal'.

If that didn't make any sense, chalk it up to Shawnna needing more sleep!

:hysterical:

Hi Laura,

You sound so well, is this a brand new job or a existing job but in a new location? You are pretty amazing to get on the plane and do this ya know and I think with that type of courage you will also be doing some snow activity very soon! Very exciting!!

Sending you lots of good thoughts and love!

xxooxx

Your enthusiasm Laura is infectious, thanks for an encouraging post xx

Laura you will get beyond this "slow" point - it just takes time. For some it takes longer. Meanwhile keep your eye on the goal of skiing again. It helps to have something to shoot for!

I have come to look forward to these Posts and encouragement!
This weekend I will look at your Posts and get more out of myself:)

I work different places all the time. I work with children...really rewarding
mission!
I am in a very Arctic environment:) Lots and Lots of snow!
I drove past the Ice Skating rink today (what I could see given the snow) and thought...Hmmmm, Nope not time for this:)
Gosh I LOVE to Ice Skate!

I did get on the tread mill and took a short walk in the Snow without PAIN yesterday!
I will remember to get Excited about the new Me! Learn to love every line, wrinkle, dimple, scar, and All of it...
Why is it that as a woman this is not celebrated?!

Love & Peace & Prayers to you All! We are a Winners Circle!
Laura

Beautiful thoughts, Laura! Thanks for sharing them. It's something we should all keep in mind!

Working again in the helping profession... Transition but I'm not as wound up as I normally am:)
I am trying to walk at a reasonable pace but not overdo it.
The Snow is ridiculous, so I just go back to hotel, do paperwork, and get to bed early.

I would like to take a Bath...I have a long rail support to get in, but am still really skiddish about anything Low.
I am almost 10 weeks Post-Op Revision surgery! Yay!
Can't believe how much more Hope I have today.....I never thought it would come back.

All is well, even in all this Snow:)
Peace all, Laura

Sounds like you are doing really well Laura. Slow and steady does it!

Hey All...
Still walking well, little Pain.
Yesterday afternoon, I just became very Slow, Sore, and Tired!
As I recall from Hip #1 replacement, that's about right at 10 weeks PostOp Revision?

Anyway, I have a Question...
I can't remember 'when' I started stretching again...Like getting on the floor, things like that?
I am working way far away from home, PT, and doc so I ask you all for some of your experiences?

I love to do Yoga...I don't have to do anything extreme...Just want to stretch again! I am so Sore from all the Surgeries and want to do some breathing and stretching !!

I guess I sound a little fuzzy:) My memory is still pretty S--t! I forget really quickly, but I remember it came back last time...

All is well in the land of work. Another day above ground, and I met another female in the workplace that is a nurse with 2 Knee replacements!!!
Yay!

Peace & Love & Prayers,
Laura

Hi LPLaura,

Just reading through your threads and it is so nice to meet you. We all have been through a lot and have to accept our new lives, adjust to certain limitations (some temporary and some permanent) but isn't it so wonderful that we have each other for support and understanding. I find that family and friends care (some deeply) but they do just not get it and they really can't if they haven't been through this. You sound really insightful and I look forward to following your recovery. So far sounds like you are doing well. We will all get there!
