THR 6 weeks and feeling GOOD

Thank you all I am scheduled for CT scan friday until then non-weight bearing on left hip. How do you do that with a walker or cane especially going up steps?

Hi again,
I hope you get some reassurance through the CT scan. I felt hopeful for you after reading Jo's comment above and it makes sense. Especially when you think about overworking our already injured leg.

Since you're only three weeks post op I'd think it would be easier to follow a non weight bearing restriction with a walker.

If you can function without using steps, do it for now. Otherwise you may just have to navigate them however you have been lately. It would be quite difficult to hop up stairs on one leg.

I hope Friday comes fast for you and pray for your comfort as you wait.
@Yokesgirl

For normal walking, you need two crutches. Canes won't do.

But this video that will show you what it's like on stairs and it's actually quite easy provided you take it slowly

I’m reading thru your posts. Sorry you are in pain.its so scary, I know.
I’m four weeks out and
I’m having extreme pain, too. I saw the OS on Monday. The femur rod “dropped” a millimeter. Whatever that means.. I’m back on walker, very limited exercises. He said 95% of people will get better. I’m putting all my hope on that.
I’m going to follow your posts.
If I can offer you anything I will.
Pain stinks. Sending healing thoughts to you

@AnnieRose2 sorry you are dealing with this. A millimeter isnt very much but enough to cause problems. I ptray you are one of the 95%. I am getting ct scan tomorrow. I pray I dont have to stay on this walker. I am icing constantly are you? Please offer me all you ca. Have a good day.

@Yokesgirl. I'm icing, moving around with walker, heel glides, calf pumps. Exercises from the beginning. The home PT had me balance, weight bear only on affected leg last week, and right after the pain started. Was that it? The OS wouldn't say. He didn't want me to think I did something wrong. I'm seeing outpatient PT, a different person on Friday. I have a prescription for limited PT.
Pain stinks and I'm a worrier with a capital WWWW.
I 'm grateful for the positive thoughts from members of BS. What a gift to be on this site.
Sending healing and positive hugs to you.

I’m wondering if the OS meant one centremeter, one millimeter would be very difficult to see.

@Gidget I beleve what Josephine said that a milliliter wouldnt cause that, she knows. Maybe it is a centimeterHow is your pain now?Hope manageable. I am icing in bed , sat outside for awhile watching my grandson swim☺Overall good day except when I lay the pain is bad Tomrrow I get my ct scan. Will keep you updated.

Glad you were able to enjoy your grandson...I don't have any grandchildren yet but I share my sister's! They are certainly busy, but fun.
Will be thinking of you!:friends:

Good Morning,
Best wishes as you get your CT scan.
I hope you're comfortable today.
Please keep us posted....we're here for you.
Hugs

I’m wondering if the OS meant one centremeter, one millimeter would be very difficult to see.

No, he said MM. Both my husband and I heard the same thing. I still have pain in the left buttock when I sit. I agree 1 MM is insignificant. I get more freaked out when I think about this.

I can't tell you not to worry...anything out of the ordinary...even a millimeter can cause concern just because...well, just because !
Don't let the pain in the butt thing concern you too much honestly, because that is a Very Normal recovery complaint on up to many months out.
Was for me!

@Yokesgirl. Hi , I’m the same. No more or less pain.
I’m looking forward to going to Out patient PT tomorrow.
How are you doing.?
Tomorrow is your CT scan, Right?
All the Best .

@AnnieRose2 Glad no worsening of the pain. Good luck tomorrow. I am actually having one of the best days since my surgery. Showered, cleaned countertops and stove(i am a clean freak so this was a ahha moment for me):yahoo:, did a load of laundry then went to ct scan it was changed until today. I am icing now busy day plus the technician thought she was doing me a favor lifting my leg up on table:sos:. In pain but ice is the best. I am so happy I had a good day. Will give update on results. Let me know how your pt goes.

Hey @Yokesgirl
I'm happy to read you're having a good day! Taking a shower, doing some laundry and seeing the results of your efforts in the Kitchen is fulfilling. I think getting out of the house helps also. I'm glad the CT scan is behind you.
Best wishes and a prayer the results are good news!
