I know princesses can detect peas under mattresses butt that's taking it a bit far - Ouch!! Hope there wasn't too much residual pain.

Enjoy your own bed when you get back to it and I'm sure the Legs, Bums and Tums class can wait for a few weeks after you get home

Have a great recovery day

You jest, I'm sure, @AndyH99, but I really am like that. If there is the slightest wrinkle in the sheets or my bed clothes, I cannot go to sleep until everything is perfectly smooth. Yes, I am a wierd duck, I know. I am already packed and will be waiting at the front door in the am, for hubby to pick me up. Cannot get here fast enough! I do plan on taking a couple of days just to catch up on lost sleep. Rest, Ice and Elevate will be the only things I will be doing for a few days. The rest can wait!

@Nana757

My, oh, my...your recovery thus far is such an inspiration and is helping me get mentally prepared for mine. If Nana can do it, so can I (after all, we are two peas in a pod!)

I can't wait to here how your transition from Spa to home goes! God bless my friend!

Said goodbye to all my caregivers today. It was tearful, for me and them. They made me feel very special. In fact 2 of the nurses came running after me thinking I was leaving without saying goodbye....how special was that. Getting home is wonderful. I have missed my own bed. However, I will miss the bed at rehab...it was the bomb! But, at least now, I can wake up on my own timetable....not theirs, which will be so sweet.
I did learn something today, as I was leaving. As an alumni, I have free use of the PT facilities, whenever! WOW...that's a bonus I didn't see coming.
Hubby has already done my dirty laundry...he's the best!
More later...I'm just enjoying being home right now.

The rehab centre sounds better all the time and the PT facilities option is a major bonus, congrats.

Enjoy the settling and snuggling in when you get home and I hope your recovery remains nice and steady.

Good luck, have fun and rest well

Well, it's been a couple of days since I last checked in. It's been a rather boring couple of days. Pain meds are down to 1 at mid-morning and 1 at bedtime. The rest of the time it is very tolerable or non-existent. I get stiff when I sit in the living room for more than a couple of hours, so I try and move more often, just to keep a little limber. Found a good way to sit in recliner without breaking any rules...on a firm pillow, with op side foot on floor and good side up on a foot stool. Perfect! DH is still trying to be the comforting and caring person I love so much, but he thinks I should be doing more. I try to let him know about the BS mantra, but he was with me at PT at the rehab center, where they push to the limits...
I talked to OS's office today and found out the rehab center was supposed to send discharge orders to OS so he could line up my INR blood work (to check clotting levels for the Coumadin) and home health care. This wasn't done and here I am thinking I'm good to go! NOT! Anyway, hopefully, tomorrow, it'll all get worked out. No biggie...just a little hitch in the giddle.

@Nana757 despite a couple of challenges it really sounds like you've had a few great recovery days, long may it continue. As for pushing more, I'm with you, only you know how you feel irrespective of a loved ones position and we all know the mantras make sense. Keep it going & I hope your nest remains comfy enough for a princess and your pain remains as minimal as humanly possible.

Have a great recovery day

Yes @AndyH99 and @Cynthia777, it is so wonderful being home and in my nest. The only discomfort I feel is a burning sensation in my incision area..just annoying..not painful. Then there's my knee, but even that is subsiding now. I might have to elevate myself from princess to Queen of my Domain! Now that has a nice ring to it...don't ya think? :)

Hi @Nana757
You have made it home to your nest - well done!

[Bonesmart.org] YAHOO! I made it! is contented the word - Queen of Domain!

Funny pic...that's me. Where do you find these, anyway? How's your foot doing @copsham? Are you getting around any better with the knee walker?

The pics are from the internet, for example if you:
type in google - emoticon nest -
get the results and click IMAGES at the top of the page under the search bar
drag the item you want to your desktop and then to BS.

I am getting around much better on the knee walker very useful going from room to room and experiencing a lovely feeling of floating or sailing by because I am so upright. Ideally needs to be smaller for me. I am 5ft tall and it is an inch or two too large on the smallest settings. It is also a fun thing/ toy for my grown up (?) son and my grandson. They are putting in a bid for it when I no longer need it LOL

Foot has been okay it but I have had enough of non weight bearing but should be resolved next Monday when plaster cast comes off!! yippee!!

Thanks @copsham for the link. Yea...when I was at work with my walker, I used to race everyone. It was quite comical. It became fun at one point, but so glad when I was finally able to shed it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on your next appt. I'd cross my legs and ankles, but we know that's a big NO NO!

Hi Princess Nana!!!! :heehee: You sound amazing and wanted to say hi and to keep up the good work!
You give me hope. :loveshwr:

Thank you so much @CricketHip. I really do feel great. The pre op pain is gone! I still can't believe it. My incision looks like it's more like months old rather than days. Don't get me wrong, though...I still have discomfort, but no where near what it was. I am just thrilled beyond belief. I have all this special equipment here and all I really needed was the raised toilet seat, cane and the ever ready reacher (I have 2, just in case I drop one). Only Happy days ahead! :happydance:

@Nana757 Its so good to hear that the original pain has gone and you're recovering well in your nest. I'm finding the same as you with all the "stuff" only a few bits seems to be really useful.

Have a great recovery day

Yeah..@andyh99...I guess it's one of those live and learn situations. But, had I known Medicare paid for nearly everything, I wouldn't have spent my $$ on it. Looks like I'll be donating some stuff once I'm all better.

Well now. Last night was rather interesting. After nearly 3 weeks (3 weeks today, actually), I had some intense pain from my butt down to the back of my knee. The only thing I can figure out as to what may have caused it, was that I wore ankle weights all day yesterday and by the end of the night, my muscles were just screaming and totally ticked off at me. Took a pain pill and iced it and within an hour it had subsided to the point where I actually slept all night. This morning it feels much better and when the PT showed up, she agreed that it was probably the ankle weights that did it. She suggested I not wear them yet. Another live and learn moment. I managed to cook dinner last night, which thrilled my non-cooking hubby. At least now, we won't starve and have to resort to PP&J's for daily meals. I still can't believe it's been 3 weeks already. Where does the time go? And I realized yesterday that I could not remember anything about being in the hospital....must have had some really good drugs there. I only remember vomiting in the PT area and being wheeled out to the car to go home. The rest is a big blur. Oh yea...I finally started to bruise...I know it's not going to be pretty...knowing how I bruise. Must've been working those nonexistent muscle in my butt and thigh letting me know they're back and not happy with me. Well, enough about me....how is everyone else doing? I hope all my BS friends have a wonderful and pain free day!

Just wondering why the heck you were wearing ankle weights and only 3 weeks on from your op.
