I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! I'm about to loose control and I think I like it!
Just got my staples out (all 34 of them) and it looks wonderful. No drips, no runs, no errors... No pain and the incision is nice and clean. I can't believe how fortunate and blessed I am to have come through this so well. Went walking around the outside courtyard today, with just my cane, which was my last PT test and will be going home Sunday.
The care that I have received at this facility couldn't have been any better. The food could've been...but can't have everything.
Have a wonderful night all and my best wishes and prayers go out to you all. I could not have done this had it not been for the support and advice of all my BS friends. I love you all!!!!!

Oh, @Nana757, you've claimed your miracle!! There are just no words, truly, to express such joy! It's not over and you've still got a way to go but you've got a great start! Keep up the good work. Remember, err on the side of caution!

@beachgal
Oh yes! I don't want to screw up this miracle of modern science. What amazes me the most is the fact that I have no bruising...at all..and I am normally a bruiser. My plan is to get on a schedule, once I get home, and take advantage of our 55+ community with pool and fitness center...just to get my strength and muscle tone back. But I won't overdo anything. The last couple of days have been very tiring...I think just being anxious about getting the staples out and going home this weekend. I know I'm just 2 weeks into this adventure...I just have to keep remembering that. Thanks my friend.

@Nana757 Fantastic news and long may your safe, steady and joyous recovery continue.

I've got to admit I was a little disappointed in my bruising display, I was expecting technicolor and ended up with mainly yellow legs and a bit of red and purple. However we can't have everything

Yea....@andyh99... Like I said earlier...I bruise so easily, I fully expected to have a rainbow from my waist to my toes. Sounds like your bruising is more like I would have expected on me. Had PT and OT this morning. Actually walked around outside with no shoes on. It felt good. I'm not a shoe person either...will choose barefoot over shoes any day of the week.

I'm in heaven now! Just had my first full blown shower and it was mahvalous! Did not want to get out. Ohhhh, the little things in life that make us happy. I don't even care that the hair on my legs need raked and braided.

So THAT was the big sigh of relief I heard about an hour ago!!! Totally relate!!

I never bruised either. Or had any swelling. I felt blessed!!

Hi Nana! Hey, you! Go you! Your recovery is perking right along, so happy for you and best wishes for an easy ride to your home tomorrow.
I bet your furry little legs look awesome, too! :heehee:

Oh, sorry @beachgal. Didn't mean to sigh so loudly....tehehe.
I actually won't be going home until Sunday @CricketHip. but I so wish it was tomorrow. Miss my own bed and pillows.
I still can't believe it's only been 2 weeks today. As soon as I figure out how, I will post my pic of the staples..before and after.

Okay. Sunday it is, then!
I hope you can relax tomorrow and get your last pamperings from the nurses and PT's.
Haha!

I use sawyer question about posterior and walkers.... For me, it took a long time to get off the Walker. I had limped badly for soooo long and crutches for two mos prior to surgery, so it was a real challenge to retrain my body. I slowly graduated to crutches and canes quickly after that but not till the 1.5 mos mark. You sound far better already!!!

@Nana757 darn that sounds good, especially so as I'm still waiting for my builders to finish my new wet room. It's really quite uplifting reading your positive approach and your steps in recovery albeit it's really sounding more like a luxury health spa now - lol. Thank you.

Good luck and have a great recovery day & enjoy the pampering

@CricketHip and @AndyH99
I know it sounds like I have been spoiled and pampered, but really...... Well.... Okay.... Maybe just a little...well ...okay.... A whole lot!!! The sweet part is this place is so new that most of there patients are in the long term category. A couple of the nurses told me that having someone who is as mobile and independent as I am, as well as undemanding, makes it easy for them to spoil. Plus, I'm a nice person! It's far from being a spa, but if I had to recover anywhere, it would still be here. Come Sunday, I get to go home and be pampered by my DH. Did I tell you that I have a tiara? Yes....I am a princess! Lollololol....
@Tweefishy
I was actually very surprised when PT handed me a cane. But as soon as I started gliding smoothly with one foot in front of the other with no limp, they said I was ready. But, believe me, when I get home, if I find myself limping with the cane too much, I'll go back to the walker. My husband says I'm a freak of nature (aka: alien), when it comes to bouncing back from major stuff...but I think there's a higher power that has helped in this process, leaving me in just enough discomfort to keep it real. I truly feel blessed.

Hello "freak of nature" alias Princess!! Your rehab sounds excellent and I hope your transition home on Sunday goes smoothly.
(My mother who has serious dementia offered me a share in her bed, in her nursing home! How sweet!).

Will be thinking of you x

Awww @copsham...that was so sweet of your mum. I actually asked about this bed I've been in for the last 2 weeks. Got kinda used to it and it's not bad. Gonna miss the reclining and lowering part. But, I've been hearing my bed calling my name and lately it's been sounding pretty pitiful. So I need to get back in it...quick!
Oh..one other thing that put me in a state of shock was I made the mistake of looking at my rear after they took the staples out and cleaned it all up. All I can say is WOW! Where did my butt go??? It is so flat and odd looking. It's like someone took a meat cleaver and chopped it off. Oh wait...isn't that what the OS did? I do hope getting back to exercising will bring my buns home, where they belong.
Glad you were able to get away for a few days even if it wasn't as pleasant as you had wished for. Hang in there, girl. It will get better.

Scooting myself back in bed after visiting the bathroom and not paying attention. Sat on my knuckles right on my incision. OUCH!!!! Note to self: don't do that again DA!!!!!
