Ok...today not so good...had a little pity party with myself, today. I am by nature a very emotional and sensitive person, so it didn't surprise me to just start weeping. Just didn't expect it so soon. But I did get my hair washed by this sweetheart of a nurses aide, this morning. At least I can tolerate being near myself now. PT said I was way ahead of the basics, but daggonnit, it sure hurts gettin back in bed. There are rabbits out there laughing at me right now. I'm sure their output is much greater than mine was today. Possibly looking at a lube job in the morning. We shall see. Going to try and get some decent sleep tonight. Have a lovely night all.

lube job. hahaha.. sorry it was a bit of a down day. You sound very peppy, though. Good luck with that good night's sleep, that cures a lot of things. :thumb:

Sorry to hear you had a rough day. I myself am on the sensitive side so they tell me and I understand how that is. I'm sure I'll be having many of "those" days as well. I hope you feel better tomorrow and have luck in the morning

Hang in there Nana! Focus on all the parts of this process you've completed. Not much more to go until you will be doing jumping jacks! :dancy:
Hope tomorrow brings you some relief...in many ways!

But, alas, a good nights sleep was not to be had last night. One downside to being in a brand new facility is that there are numerous kinks to work out. Last night there was a glitch in the security alarm, which went off every other minute until about 3 this morning. They finally got that settled down, but as I write this, it has started again. ARGHHH!:yikes:
But, there light at the end of the tunnel...progress (albeit small progress ) in the bathroom. Yes, there is hope.
I am so not looking forward to PT today, but I will deal with that as it comes. Have a wonderful day all my BS friends. :roseshwr:

Don't let your PT make you do anything that hurts. Period. Tell them you want to go slowly and be deliberate in your movements. A little PT goes a long way, especially in the beginning. You've read it on BS many times...hips don't need much to heal, just walking a bit. The exercises are designed to help with your muscles and such but they can be very tender so easy does it!

Omg! Sounds more and more like you may need those wax ear plugs! The rehab center is going to have some pretty grumpy patients today. Hopefully you can get some catch up sleep today. My prayers are with you!

PT wasn't all that bad today. Did 20 minutes on the stationary bike, which was actually relaxing. Wouldn't mind doing that every day. Still using walker and limping, but I feel certain that will ease up once my knee pain gets better. Going for the MOM tonight...last ditch effort! How do YOU spell relief? :bored:

I actually enjoyed PT. It made me feel like I was moving forward with recovery but you sure have to know when to quit. Slowly!

Constipation is the worst part of this surgery! I swear!! Ask for the MOM tonight and get things rolling!!

Oh yeah @beachgal...I totally agree and have already put it on the menu for my late night snack! Yummy, yummy! Can't wait. Need the nurse to check my shoulder and upper back area, though. Itches like crazy and feels bumpy...don't like whatever is going on...
On a good note, my pain level has been getting better and I'm getting back and forth to the bathroom by myself. Gonna try and settle in for the evening. Have a great night my friend.

My pain meds made me itch. Percocet maybe? Can't remember. I hated that feeling. Was happy to wean off to Tylenol. MOM late-night cocktail! Yum!

Yes, Definitly ,one of the side effects of pain meds is itchiness. It drove me crazy on my inner thighs and the more I scratched little red bumps came out. Once I got off the percacet , no more itches ! ☺️

Sounds like you are doing pretty well! No clue what a MOM is but sounds kinda awful. Good luck on that :/ as for the itch hues with bumps, yes narcotics can make you itch, but bumps sounds like an allergy or sensitivity to something you are on. Definitely show the nurses and switch meds.

Well, the good news is I gave birth last night ( at least that's what it felt like), before I could get the MOM. So hopefully her twin will be delivered today with no problems. Only here can you speak of such intimate bodily functions and receive kudos. I love this site!!
I completely forgot about the narcotics causing the itchies and rash. Got the nurse to rub my back down with lotion last night and it feels better already.
Took the TEDs off last night, as well, since I haven't had them off since day 1. Nurse said I shouldn't sleep in them??? She's the first one to say that. But this morning, my leg and knee are even more swollen. I guess that's because they were allowed to "breath". I have not elevated my leg yet since all my instructions say not to. But I think I'm going to follow the BS mantra today and see what happens with the swelling.
Have a wonderful day ALL...I plan to!

Had another up and down day. First thing, I managed the second coming...YEAH!!! Feel 10 lbs lighter! Then got back in bed and decided I didn't really feel like having PT this morning...just wanted to catch up on some needed sleep. Then the tears started to roll again! My goodness. I know it's good for the soul to have a good cry every now and then but this is getting a little ridiculous already. PT came in at 10:00am and she wasn't gonna take no for an answer. So I sucked it up, brushed my teeth and hair and off we went. I am so glad I did. I don't know what she did, but my knee (which has been my biggest issue, before and after surgery) feels so much better that this afternoon I was walking with a regular stride...almost no hesitation in my step. Sooooo, accomplishment.....check! If I can manage 1 accomplishment a day, I will be a happy camper. Came back to room and took a nice nap. Then OT came in and off we went for training on the transfer bench for the tub. #2 accomplishment....check! However, I will have no need for that since I will be using my hubby's shower. Then another wonderful nap. Had a wonderful visit with my oldest daughter and son-in-law and hubby, which took away all the stress from the day. It's amazing how having your loved ones nearby, solves most everything.
I honestly think if I did not have any interruptions at night (from nurses or early morning shift changes) I could sleep a good 8-10 hours....no problem. I have no problem sleeping on my back with a pillow between my legs, one under each arm and my favorite pillow from home under my head. I look like I should be in a coffin. But it works for me.
One of the best parts of my day is sharing it with all of you. Even though I may share just a smidgen more than you might think, it feels so good just to let it roll. Have a wonderful night all....and bless you for being my shoulders.

@Tweefishy: I see that you had posterior, as well. How long was it before you ditched the walker?

@Nana757
What a nice, witty and informative post! I think you had a very nice day! And PT turned out to be a winner.. you just never know til you try.
Keep on smiling, even if it's through tears. God Bless and have a good night.

Seize every little victory and don't think about the bad stuff. The good will far outweigh the bad, no doubt. You've got this!!
