Hi @ busylizzie

I've really enjoyed reading the posts between you and @Legin. It's good that someone else is having similar issues so you can get different perspectives.

Aaarghhhh antibiotic loaded cement oh Busylizzie that's awful x

Did you manage any sleep? xxx

Love Nana moon 27 xxx

@Nana moon 27 , sleep is hit and miss. Some nights better than others. I never feel refreshed in the mornings. I long for a good night's sleep when you go to bed at a reasonable hour and sleep all night and get up bright and breezy. Alas I think it will never happen, I've never been a good sleeper, any little noise wakes me up.

How are you?

Hi @busylizzie doing ok. My knees are achy today. With like an irritated sensation down them x like you I catnap. I kept thinking about my friend. I had a couple of times last week where I slept for five hours and I felt great x x x I am tired. I'm going to try for another hour shortly xxx

It doesnt sound nice @busylizzie I dont sleep much either but didnt before opp either. But somemof my best ideas have come at 3am, or was I dreaming

Hiya @busylizzie. As promised heres my physio report. Told her about assessment so we looked at what was worst in mobility mime is going down stairs leading with good leg. When I go forward I end up sortnof launching forward oooooops. She wants me to strengthen upper thigh to compensate. I stand sideways on lower step and step down and up with bad leg on stair. Also she explained that the num areas the muscles wont work as no messages get there to tell them to hence lack of strength. So I try heel raises as in stood and even tho it feels nothing she said muscles around will increase and hopefuly take over. Dont know if it helps you shout if you want clarification.

Thanks @Legin. I can't try any load bearing exercises, they just kill me with pain.

I've just received my CTScan date. It's the 9 December ☺. They are going to scan, both ankles, both knees, both hips and long leg measurement. I feel as though I've been heard at last after the disastrous nerve conduction tests. Let's hope they discover the problem. Also got a pain management appointment for first week of the New Year.

Last couple of days both ankles are now hurting. Sciatica in my right leg has got worse. I aggravated the pain by having to walk a fair distance on Tuesday to one of my hospital appointments. We had to try 3 car parks before getting a space despite having a blue badge. I couldn't use my scooter, the ground was too uneven, so it was crutches. I spent yesterday trying to recover.

I upped my podiatry appointment to next week after the new orthotics I received in the post don't fit. They are too narrow and my little toes hang off the edge. I can't wear them.

Can you sitnon chair and hold straight leg out as if its on a stool but just held by muscles physio complemented me on doing it off own back as building up muscles

Legin THR Sep 14

@Legin, yes that is easy. I could do straight legs lifts straight away after the last surgery. Physios and consultant were very surprised as my leg had been in a straight leg brace for 27 weeks prior to this surgery and I struggled to weight bear at all. I thought my muscles would have been very wasted. It was the bend that I had trouble with as it hadn't bent all the time the brace was on.

It took me eons to get the bend muscles were solid and humongous, but being male and a restless soulmi massaged them all the time. I also have quite bad psoriasis so i was regularly rubbing moisturiser in. Keep at it I have down days which are often accompanied by ODI days. Dont tell nana she tells me off.

Hi @Legin, my bend came slowly too and I had to work at it. My surgeon said that if I achieved 90 degrees I would be doing well. I've proved him wrong, last time it was measured I'd got to 100 degrees and I think that there will be a little more to come.

I've been reading your thread on the hippie side. You have been through the wringer too!

Today I have got on with life and been out to a double birthday celebration. Last year I missed out on my son and grandson's birthdays as I was in hospital. This year I was determined to go and join in as much as possible. I'm suffering now but I know that given time I will come round. It is good to be able to be one of the family again and not sit in the sidelines.

Oh well done @ busylizzie, good on you. It is nice to be back in the middle of life. It must have meant the world to you and both your son and grandson. I sure imagine your husband was pleased too.

I have adopted that kind of attitude that I'll suffer the consequences later too x I'm getting there slowly but still got issues with mobility (walking distance) and nerves. The CBT is slow progress and I don't think I've done as much as I should on line x

I hope you get through your pain, you deserve it x x

@Nana moon 27, thanks. I decided not to use my crutches to get into the pub from the car park for the celebration lunch. They always get in the way. Instead I hobbled in. My balance isn't good but I managed and it wasn't far to walk. Back at their house we had birthday cakes. I managed to get a wheat free one as my son and I are wheat intolerant. The others had normal cake but tasted ours as well. It was a yummy chocolate one. Grandson got some lovely presents including Superhero dressing up clothes. He was in his element. Granddaughter not to be outdone dressed up as Cinderella. Just heard that they both zonked out at bedtime☺. Usually have trouble getting them to go to sleep especially grandson. Off to bed now, I'm shattered as usual.

Sleep well @busylizzie

Ive enjoyed hearing about your lovely day. That was very brave of you to walk without the crutches x x
I'm glad you were able to take part.

I have started getting cramps in my legs. This morning laying in bed not long after waking my left calf muscle went into bad spasm. The only way to stop it was to get out of bed and walk on it. This has started to happen the last few weeks. Yesterday it was my thigh muscle on the same leg. I few days ago it was my right ankle. I don't normally have much salt, so I have increased that. I am thinking about eating bananas now but they affect my blood sugars. I think I will have to mention it to the GP. It seems strange to suddenly get them now as I'm at the six month mark.

Not a good day today. My back is really playing up and my left leg isn't good. Early night needed and some sleep I hope. See what tomorrow brings, hopefully a better day.
