The appointment went better than I thought it would.

I had 2 student podiatrists initially. One young, one mature. The mature one just about to qualify, and he will make a good podiatrist. He was thorough and had sussed most of it out before their mentor, a very senior podiatrist came in. They more or less confirmed what I thought. They want to wait for the CT scan and nerve conduction test results before seeing me again. I have to try damage limitation until then and try to stop doing anything that makes the pain worse.

I have just recieved a follow up appointment this afternoon for the foot/ ankle specialist for the 1st week in January. He must be thinking that the tests will be through for then. Perhaps I am being fast tracked? I didn't expect an appointment so soon especially as everything usually stops for 2 weeks at Christmas.

I hope you're on the fast track! :fasthorse:

@kneeper, it looks like I maybe. Just been asked if I can go on Saturday 22nd November for the nerve conduction tests. Either that or the NHS is trying to catch up before Christmas. I had a Saturday appointment last week.

Was planning on going to an knitting and stitching show that day but I'd rather have to tests done and be able to move on with my recovery. Just waiting for the date of the CT scan now.

We had the grandchildren all day yesterday as Mum and Dad wanted to go out for the day without them for a change. I joined the ODIC club but had a good day. We went out in the car. Grandaughter, 3, sang all the way there and back, over an hour. It was beautiful, she has a lovely voice and mostly in tune, not like me. Grandson played on my tablet the whole time in the car. They are so different but alike in some respects. I got some cuddles too when we got home. They are so bubbly and full of life, it is hard to be down when they are around. They certainty cheer you up. They are excited about Christmas and both have birthdays coming up. Their lists for presents are endless thanks to all the hype especially on TV. Little girl is 'Frozen' mad and the boy loves Lego and anything technical/technology based.

I was shattered last night and I am still recovering now. I didn't sleep much and stayed in bed until almost lunch time.

You grandchildren made me smile, a friends 3yr old wore his too small fleece PJ's in August so Christmas. Would come sooner :).

The boy likes dressing up too. I made him a Superman costume last year just before I had my knee taken out. This year he had a Halloween devil costume I bought last year in the sale. He does get overshadowed by his sister although he is older. Mum is into pretty princess type dresses for her and I think forgets about him. His other grandma has just bought him a Spiderman costume to give to him on his birthday and I've got him some Angry Bird and Spiderman pyjamas which he can also use for dressing up. Granddaughter has both Anna and Elsa costumes from Frozen lined up for Christmas. It seems that Tinkerbell will have to be relegated now. In my day it was plain old boring clothes. Son wasn't into dressing up either.

I bought a doll to dress up recently, it looks like I'll have to get on with it now. I need to get out and buy some more material.

I had a really bad night. My whole leg is swollen and painful. Next appointment is Saturday, I hope I get some answers soon.

Oh @busylizzie

@Nana moon 27 , thanks. Yes I am laying on the settee with my leg elevated. I think I must have some nerve damage/entrapment. Hubby is looking after granddaughter as Mum is working today. Just watching Mr Maker on the television. We are going to try and get to Hobbycraft this afternoon for a distraction. I will use my scooter. I am better if I do something. I think I will be OK if I don't weight bear on this leg.

Hi @busylizzie

I'm trying to do other stuff away from this site to be honest. I'm going to be popping in and out. To be honest I think I may have been spending more time than is healthy on here. The trouble is when you've been I'll, stuck in one place and lonely this is what tends to happen. I'm taking a leaf out of your book and get on with it.

So today hubby's gone out. Growled a warning about ODIC. So I've pulled myself together, as in deep breath, grit teeth and start doing light cleaning. I am going to see how I fare with the vacuum. It's my favourite job of all. I love how the carpet looks after (sad aren't i?). Only the living room today. If I'm ok with that, then tomorrow those blooming stairs. Aaaarggghhhh they're desperate!!

A trip to hobby craft will cheer you up I'm sure. I look forward to reading what you bought etc later on x I used to love watching Mr Maker with my younger granddaughter. Time flies x x

I hope that your pain and swelling ease up as the day goes by. It's damp, and miserable here today. What's it like up there? Xxx

Have a great day

Love Ann x x x

I'm shattered today. I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate yesterday. Long day but used my scooter to get around. I enjoyed getting out.

Almost time to go for Nerve Conduction Study this afternoon. I hope it won't be painful as my pain level is high at the moment. Fibromyalgia not good and left foot/ankle/knee/leg/hip/back awful along with sciatica on the right side. I wish it was sorted. My body seems contorted and all stems I think from the knee not being aligned correctly. Still waiting for a date for the CT scan.

Not a good appointment. I felt like it was rushed. I was told to expect 30 to 60 minutes appointment. I was in 20 mins tops and some of that was getting my trainers and socks and jacket on and off. He almost murdered me, I was in so much pain. Not peroneal entrapment according to him, but my sciatic nerve on both sides. L4, L5, S1. I've had trouble with my back there before but it does not feel the same. He didn't have a good 'bedside manner'. I had to fill in a questionnaire afterwards so they didn't get a good rating. Hubby wrote the answers as I was struggling to stand at the reception without my crutches. The nerve conduction testing was done by a private company on behalf of the NHS.

I came out in so much pain. The receptionist wanted me to stay a while. No, I wanted out and to come home. Been home almost 2 hours and I haven't moved from the settee. My good leg hurts the most. I hope it settles down soon.

Oh @busylizzie

This is the trouble when they outsource our treatment. There is a saying you know..."you pay peanuts...you get monkeys". That was clearly the case today. Disgusting.

I'm so sorry it was bad. Can I suggest that you contact PALS? Patient and Liaison Services if they have one at your hospital. They do down here. They're very good.

I do hope you pain relief kicks in and your pain eases off. Sending you a big hug x

Hi Nana moon 27,

I went on their website before I went and they seemed to have a good reputation from the testimonials. Perhaps it was a bad day or a different doctor. I went into the appointment 15 mins early and came out just after the time I should have gone in. It wasn't as if he was running late. Hubby came in with me. I learnt a long time ago two heads are better than one! Hubby was taken aback also. Right leg is still very painful.

It said on the information leaflet that I got in the post that 'No absolutely no side effects' and 'no restrictions to return to work' and 'the test will take between 30 - 60 minutes'. No way could I have gone to work afterwards.

Just hope CT scan appointment is very soon!

Hi @busylizzie

Something was clearly wrong today there. That's very worrying. Why was his bedside manner so awful if he wasn't under pressure? Maybe he didn't want to work on a Saturday? Whatever the reason it doesn't make it right to rush anything. I think it does need a phone call maybe to their office to find out how come the appointment took so little time and why he hurt you. Something was not right there. The trouble is you get so fed up of hospitals, surgeons, PT and everything. Else it makes you not want to bother. I understand that. I'm sure he shouldn't have hurt you though and that's why maybe a phone call even off your husband to them might be in order x you know how your back feels.

I hope your CT scan comes through soon x x x x I hope your pain has lessened xxxxxxx

Love Ann x x x

Pain is back to being manageable now. It is almost 6 hours since test. Hubby said the needles went a long way into my leg muscles, I couldn't see, I was flat on the couch. I am in bed now. I haven't done anything since I got home.

Yikes @busylizzie, needles into a muscle are bad enough but deep into a muscle. Oh my heart goes out to you. I am so pleased that you've managed to get the pain back to somewhere half reasonable. I'm in bed too. I've been here a while now. I hope you get some sleep.
Love Nana moon 27 xox sending you a ((((big hug)))))) xxxxx
