@Nana moon 27 , This AP is a gem not at all like the original TKR consultant's one. It was bad news seeing her. This one really does have my best interest at heart. She will go the extra mile.

Yes I am on DLA and ESA. I thought I would have relinquished the DLA by now, but I'm no better. It may not be a bad thing coming to see you first thing in the morning. You just have to be yourself and do what you normally do. If you are not up and dressed by then it doesn't matter. Don't put on a show. They will watch how you get out of a chair, walk, go up stairs etc. Have hubby in the house so he can answer questions too. They sometimes take more notice if you have somebody to reinforce what you are saying. Don't worry about it. I will chat to you about it a little nearer the time.

Thanks @busylizzie. They practically did all the assessment on the phone today. Asking how my health issues interfere with my life, the man was on the phone for a good half an hour. I got very upset when talking about my anxiety, my feeling of entrapment, not driving since last December, my loss of independence. the nodules on my lungs they think are benign that are to be scanned annually for change. Oh you name it they discussed it's impact on my life. I told them how I'd attempted to do a meal cos my husband was I'll and I nearly blew up the cooker last Sunday. There was no stone unturned xxx as I say I know most of these claims are unsuccessful but I lose nothing in trying. I ended up in floods of tears about my job, life the lot

So yes nearer to the time we will chat, that would be great xxxx thank you xxx

I'm ever so glad this AP is looking after you. That means such a lot. Please take care my friend xxx

Love Ann xxx

@Nana moon 27, it sounds like yesterday's conversation will hold you in good stead. I too end up in floods of tears talking about it. The fact about the cooker was good to put in. You automatically get lower rate care on the old DLA if you are unable to prepare and cook a main meal. That doesn't include warming a microwave meal.

I hope your chest infection doesn't get any worse.

@Nana moon 27, you may find that you get upset and be in tears from time to time thinking about the assessment until it happens. It is a pretty invasive assessment to go through and having to admit how your health affects your life and what you can't do now. It hit me, and I thought I'd mention it in case the same happens with you. It is normal to feel like this.

Sounds like an ordeal to go through for benefits. Wishing you all the best on the 10th.
To go on disablilty here most have to hire a lawyer to go through the process, which can take several years.

Busylizzie,
I agree when all options have been explored, it will be time to consider amputation.

Wowee @pumpk1n that's really interesting how your system works out over there xx The worst of this particular benefit is that it's not means tested. It's also the hardest one to get. It has a high rejection rate x We don't qualify for any help off the state until after January when I have no salary at all xx then it can take months. What a joke xxx

Love Ann xxx

Hi Busylizzie. I've just managed to catch up with your journey and am so sorry it's all such a nightmare. Hopefully there will be some light at the end of the tunnel soon. Amputation sounds very drastic but, when you've explored every other option as thoroughly as you have, what more can you do?

Worrying about your dear Mum will be adding to your emotional stress levels. I miss mine dreadfully, but am glad that she is now at peace. Alzheimer's Disease and dementia are the cruelest of illnesses, both for the sufferers and their families.

We're having our bathrooms refitted at present so the whole house is in chaos. Before the guy started he told us it would take 2 weeks. We're now in week 7!!! Sounds a bit like your experiences with the NHS!

Love and ongoing prayers

@Coppernob, we were scheduled to have our bathrooms refurbished this September. We had been waiting since April. At the end of August we got to know that the company had family problems and they cancelled it. We are still looking for another tradesman. I am very fusy when it comes to the finish and we have had some rogue tradesmen in the past. The kitchen needs doing as well and we are waiting for a final quote for that.

This morning's diabetic annual checkup turned out to be a regular appointment with one of the nurses not the specialist diabetic ones! I broke down in tears when she asked me some of my history. She wants me to see the GP to discuss this.

My MCV blood result is slightly off (mean corpuscle volume) otherwise all OK. I was told to get in touch with the local hospital diabetic nurse to discuss my erratic blood sugar results as my overall level is good.

I had a flu jab whilst I was there.

We went to the outskirts of Blackpool with the family today for a little retail therapy. We had to return some equipment on the way that we borrowed earlier in the year from son's MiL and FiL. Hubby didn't feel well, fortunately son was driving ( I can't drive yet). When we got home he had a temperature of 39 degrees C and is tucked up in bed now.

I haven't been well since Thursday night. I keep getting hot sweats and feel very tired and just 'off'. Hubby still has a temperature. We are struggling together. Son is going to drop off a food parcel tomorrow as we are running out of staples such as milk and bread.

I had a phone call on Friday asking me if I would go for the gastroscopy next Saturday as they are doing extra sessions at weekends to catch up the backlog. This is actually better for us as the traffic isn't as busy on the motorway network at weekends and it is a 70 mile round trip. I just wasn't expecting it so soon. The next fortnight is going to be really hectic starting on Tuesday. Let's hope we are both better by then.

I have lost some ROM not doing much exercise and using my scooter if we go out, but the pain is easier. I hope I get some answers very soon.

I thought that I would do some gentle extension exercises about 1 hour ago as my leg wasn't flat anymore. I didn't do much but I'm paying for it now. My whole leg from my foot to my thigh is very sore and swollen. I will not be doing that again until I see the specialist consultant. I have had to do more around the house the last couple of days as hubby isn't good. Emptying and filling the dishwasher is a killer as is cooking even basic meals. It has hit home just how much hubby usually does. I am in bed now and hope I get to sleep soon. Tomorrow is the five month anniversary of my new knee.
