Bilateral THR Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Yes @jaydub63 the weather looks perfect! This was his first trip to the store since my surgery. I’ve been living on peanut butter sandwiches while (not) patiently waiting for a grocery run.

Hubs likes the idea of cooking but won’t plan and gets overwhelmed in the middle of it all. And then I get 100 frantic texts from the kitchen [emoji23]

I thought my family had the monopoly on joint replacement but your dad is right up there! Hopefully he lets you do things your way without irritating you with opinions. I get you, my mother never shuts up, about anything! My sisters and I have learned to make sure she has wine with every meal when we gather so at least when she starts, it's entertaining :egypdance: I am sure your little man will be thrilled to have his Papa there, so much fun!

My guys are grilling tonight and keeping sides a bit on the simple side. Instead of a nicely decorated dining table, we will likely be eating in the living room with me parked in my chair (mostly because my husband puts every single thing he touches on the table instead of putting it away)

How adorable!!! You're the luckiest Mommy!!! And I bet the proudest Mommy too!! If they could only stay little and innocent forever!

You are doing just great @JennyLynne
We are truly blessed to have a surgery available that will give us our lives back.
This is the tough part..but it gets better and easier as we relax and let our bodies heal.
Hope today is a Good Day!

Seems like every thread contains everyone’s longing for or loving a shower... it means so much!!!

Your little man looks adorable...such a lovely age...
even my smallest granddaughter is 11 so missing that lovely in between age when they are still innocent & loving & still want a cuddle..[emoji170]
You sound like a beautiful family... and you will all too soon be able to resume Mummy duties... xx

Your son is adorable! Looks so happy. Love that you got a shower! Still the highlight of my day and biggest energy drain, but so worth it. It is remarkable to see how well you are doing with double hippys. Hope you have a great visit with your Dad!

Thank you all for the kind and encouraging words!

A week ago at this time, I was arriving at the hospital. It feels like 5 min ago, but my hubby says it feels like 5 months ago [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
(He was very happy to go back to work today)

Little guy back at school... good for him, as he was clinging to me for the last 3 days.

My dad hopped onto my bed at 7:30am... talk talk talk...narrated the Today show... then fell asleep and started snoring. I just kicked him out! We live out of state- not ready for being that close (literally)!

Legs are coming back to life. The back/side of both legs feel crampy and achy. Hard to lay still. Also, left knee (artificial) hurts more than anything else. So odd! Anyone else have knee pain in recovery?

That is hilarious but there is something very sweet about it also. Pops may get on your nerves quickly while visiting, but I'll bet you miss him as soon as he leaves for home.

Your little man is absolutely precious. I hate that they grow so quickly and all that you're left with are the memories. You're lucky in this day of cell phone / cameras. I could have captured so many more moments with my kids!!

Thanks for your ongoing generous support and encouragement of others here as you're healing yourself. Your great sense of humor gives me, and I'm sure many others, a lot of laughs. Quite a few comedians in this group!

I hope you have a great day/week healing and spending time with your dad. :)
@JennyLynne

Had OT visit today, and discharged me. So one less person popping in!

Nurse and PT both want to come at 3pm tomorrow- I have nothing to do allllll day of course- but let’s battle for the 3pm slot!

Nurse is going to take my bandages off tomorrow. I am not looking forward to seeing the 50+ staples. (Whyyyyyy did I get staples?????)

The story of your dad made me laugh!! That is quite sweet that he is obviously trying to nurture you right now. Hopefully he found something more interesting to make you for lunch than a peanut butter sandwich :)

Did OT ask you to do the stairs?

@Carriemay60 my dad showed up at one point with a chicken salad sandwich FOR HIM that he proceeded to eat on my bed!

OT was just there to assess my surroundings, make sure I had the items she felt I needed (raised toilet seat, grabber, etc) and observe me getting out of bed, walking to and sitting on toilet, and getting in bed. I assume PT will conquer the stairs with me? Not sure. It’s a lot of strangers showing up!

Stairs were definitely scary...muscles are definitely sore and weak...but those hips are strong.
My quads felt like they were used for punching bags.
I had a chaperone for many weeks, hubby or brother-in-law as I was at my sisters for the first weeks.
But was so good to get outside even for fifteen or twenty minutes in the evening.
Sorry your knee is bothering you.
Ice it too!
Wishing you a good day, bilateral pal:loveshwr:
