Bilateral THR Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Shower plus rain lead to a 3 hour nap. Oh my... That was wonderful!

Just made a giant grocery list in anticipation of my dad arriving tomorrow for the week.

Hubby has texted me 4 times from the store already [emoji23]
This should be interesting!

Oh Hoppy... it had been 5 days... I couldn’t stand myself anymore!

Hubby asked if I was going to wash my hair and before I could answer, my son said “DEFINITELY!”
Ha... message received!

Lucky to have a walk in shower with a built in bench. I also added a blow up pillow from the tub so the bench was higher. All in all- not nearly as challenging as I expected!

It was because my scar hadn’t healed properly at the end as it had torn... he wanted it completely healed first... I was very fed up!!! Washing hair over a sink doesn’t cut it!!

So good to hear that you're in happier spirits today. The shower and 3 hour nap had to help! I can't imagine having a bilateral either but you're doing well for just being 5 days post-op. I hope you and your family have a good Easter Sunday!

I learned the hard way with that! Must be very specific [emoji23]

Hubby just begged for sushi for dinner tonight. Sounds awful to me. I went along with it to be nice... good thing for all my snacks stashed up here!

@JennyLynne what kind of a blow up pillow do you have for your tub? We have a walk in shower with a bench too and it would be great not to have to buy a separate shower chair.

I hope your husband got you everything on your list. My husband has to take pictures of things to make sure he gets them right. Yesterday he was in charge of the baby for a few hours and it was like he’d never done it before. I had to remind him how to do everything. I’m dreading what’s going to happen after surgery.

Hope you get some sleep tonight.

@LAbabymama the pillow is an inflatable headrest pillow, with suction cups and covered in terry cloth- it’s from Bed Bath and Beyond I think? We have this amazing tub in the master that I’ve never ever ever ever used... for fear of never ever ever ever being able to get out! [emoji23] hubs likes the tub.

Sitting on that pillow was just enough lift to make standing from sitting easier. Trying to be very observant of my 90 degree bend restrictions.

You're doing great!
One week post op already tomorrow.
I hope you and yours have a beautiful Easter Sunday!
@JennyLynne

Thanks @Layla and a happy Easter to you!

The Easter bunny visited and was kind enough to hide the basket in my bedroom so I didn’t have to make it downstairs this morning. He was also considerate enough to include some sour patch kids... my fav [emoji6]

Hubs and my little guy are going to Easter breakfast and then my dad gets in town this afternoon. And finally... a sunny day!!! Probably won’t leave my bedroom but I welcome some warm fresh air through the windows [emoji5]

Easter with kids is so much fun - I used to have as much fun as the kids! Does your husband go back to work tomorrow? If so, it will sure be nice to have your dad there to help you during the day. Enjoy your day, it must be your turn to vote on dinner :)

@Carriemay60 yes, he goes back to work, so we shipped my dad in for the week. He is retired and it will be great to have his help. Plus, my guy will be so happy to have Papa here all week!

My dad has had both knees and hips done (and knee revision to swap out plastic parts after 15 yrs). My issues are genetic and you can see who I get them from!

Only issue is that he is a know it all... his experience is the ONLY experience... and his experience is like 25+ yrs old. I will grin and bite my tongue... grateful for the help... grateful for the help... grateful for the help... repeat repeat repeat!!

It looks like it could be a decent day for grilling since the sun is out! My husband was quite ambitious with the cooking for the 10 days he was home with me when I was recovering. Even made cookies from scratch! Since then, nada.
