Good to hear you're getting it checked out tomorrow.
Hopefully rest and ice will do the trick, sans the dunce hat.
Best wishes...let us know how it goes.

Well 4 days of mostly rest and plenty of ice of course the day of my appointment I was feeling better. X-rays taken and everything is right where my OS left it, no implant problems. They thought it was funny that my biggest concern was if I had screwed up the work my OS did. You know your hip was more than the usual THR when the PA remembers well after 5 years how much work it was to do my THR on that hip with the pins. Basically severe muscle strain IT band and bursitis. Keep icing, use a roller and some Ibuprophen if needed.
After all of this I can tell you that these hips are pretty tough! This was a pretty major overdidit and not just 1 thing it was an accumulation of things in short period of time. I lifted waaaay more than I should have after lifting a bunch that was heavy. Add fitness classes a few days a week, then a good fall and top it off with home construction including ladders and kneeling for long periods.

Good News!:ok:
I have caused myself some concern at various times since my hip replacements and the strains, I realized a bit too late, were also accumulated excesses in activity.:nah:
Hope things ease soon.

Eman,
I'm happy to hear nothing serious just a good old fashioned case of overdoing...and you fell! How scary!
You have been such a source of information here for me this last year and so pleased you are feeling better. Stay well.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and wishes. I am very happy that my OS feels it's just soft tissue. It was like a reboot of recovery, all of the similar sensations including discomfort sleeping on that side and the odd feelings even when sleeping on the non-op side. For me the encouragement came when icing made it feel better which to me indicated soft tissue and not a bad stem or cup. Revisiting my x-rays is interesting, one thing I hadn't paid attention to in the past is I have 2 screws in each cup. I knew there were screws but I was thinking only 1 in each. I asked about it and the PA explained that's the OS preferred method, not a standard as it helped prevent any movement. Works for me as I gave it a real test this year.
Interesting thing is my left, which is the one that I strained, being my first was the one I did more exercising and overdids in recovery. Interesting now that that is the side that strained. My right is the side that I did no PT and no overdids.

Wow! You know how to overdo! Thankfully your appointment revealed good news. I am sure that was reassuring. Take good care, as you have been, and feel better soon!

Too nice out, can't sit indoors too much to do. I was never able to sit inside and watch racing, always had the radio while I was out doing things. I used to go to Daytona every year for Speedweeks.
We were out working in the woods yesterday clearing and burning brush, I just have to take ice breaks.

Wish it was nice enough here to hang outdoors. Not quite yet, not very enjoyable in the cold.
Stay safe and enjoy!

I agree with Bonesmart. Walking is best. I found PT useless. I was pretty much totally mobile at 3 months. Putting on socks is still a little of a challenge at 4 1/2 months. Good luck. Take it easy. Heal.

Well I saw this post pop up so I figured I'd give an update.
Yesterday was actually the first day I can say I didn't think about my left hip much since I hurt it. I can't say that I've been taking it totally easy as I always stay busy but I have been taking a lot of breaks and still icing.
I guess I can now give a better comment about my 5yo left THR. All in all it's very good and it's amazing to be able to not have the excruciating bone pain I used to experience. I always said I never have a day when I don't think about my hips and that has held true. Obviously I have moments which is what led to this last setback. But I can say that I can do whatever I want to do, but I could and would do it all with my bad hips before, but now I can sleep without the pain. I don't have any plans on playing sports but I can go to the gym and do physical labor with no problems.
My OS big question was am I still racing so I guess I better get working on my car as it's getting warm out.

I feel the same. It crosses my mind for one reason or another, each day, sometimes multiple times and I'm certain being involved here, BoneSmart, keeps it in the forefront of my mind.

I am happy to read that for the first time yesterday, you didn't give your left hip much thought, obviously its getting better. Now for the car racing...that takes a special type of bravery. Stay safe and enjoy!

As soon as my feet hit the ground in AM I think about my hip and what kind of day I will have. Although back to majority of my routine I still get nervous about tripping and falling.

I shouldn't have mention it feeling good, today I did have some stiffness and pain in the groin. I'll blame it on the cold damp weather and go on with the ice.
I have fallen a few times since my THR's and luckily they've not hurt my hips. I've always been bad to trip on things, I guess years of hip pain I never stepped high enough.

I'm sorry, Eman...isn't that always the way? You say something's good and then suddenly it's not.
Hopefully the ice and some rest helps the stiffness and pain.

That's an interesting thought though of your years of struggling with bad hips and the inability to lift your legs high due to it. It likely did become a habit for you that's been hard to break.

Thanks for your generous contributions here and for the Eman Cart Therapy, it's brilliant.
