TKR This time I am doing it right and having a blast

Had a good day. Today the weather was not to bad. The medicane is doing better. My pain is getting almost pain free. Trying to do what the doctor said and so far I got some work to do. I can't quite go 6 hours but am getting close. Really tired tonight, I overdid it yesterday and today. Going to get to bed early tonight I hope. Take care and have a good week. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Had another quiet day. My knee is getting so much better, can walk without any help for quite a distance. So glad I had it done so I can walk again. Everyone have a good week and do take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

bottomshollow it is so cool to drive again. However I need to pace a little better. My knees are a little tender but hay that not like it was before. Sinced up for a sewing class today. Getting back to semi-normal. Feels great. Everyone do take care and remember to post so we know how you are doing. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

The one thing I have found is to be careful. Even though I can drive, I need to be careful not to overdue it. Sleep all day, really felt good. Gotten hot so am being careful not to overdue it. Everyone do take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Tashia,
Are you able to get back to your sewing? Glad it is going to be cooler that the forcast.
Take good care of you knee,

Turn another corner today. Not only did I get to drive like I said above but my medicaition was 8 hours before I need another one and it still wasn't bad. Oh yes I am moving in the right direction. Going slow does pay but it is so boring and trying to the nerves. But success. Swelling is also going down much faster. :yes!:Isn't recover great! :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

My PT came today for the last time. My rom had goten 110 and still moving. I have noticed that this time getting the knee done it has been so calm. Not saying I have had some anxious moments but knowing what to do and what not to do makes it so much easier the second time around. I'm not sure how much more I am going to report. I am so glad it has been so calm but reporting every day seems to be repeating myself day after day. Not much is happing. Recovery is great.. With the weekend coming up I hope everyone will have a safe and do something fun for themselves. take care:puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Great report! Nice to hear about great recoveries.
Have a good weekend.

Thanks Pumpkin, I has really been easy this time. Today was another excellent day. Took pain pills average 8 hours. Started bending the knee without pain or thinking about it. Not bad for just over two months. Walk most of the time without a limp. Do start walking with one but it dispapers while walking.:yes!: Was really hot today and took a easy but got to drive because of the time lasps for the pills. :spin: Increase time driving every day, tomarrow plan to drive to sewing store that is farther than the close one. Tashia on the road again, Just in time to pay the highest gas prices.:yikes: I have no idea how much gas I need, I will find out tomarrow. The car is at half. Recovery Road has its twist and turns but this time hardly any. WOW. My right knee is getting better also. So I batting almost 75 per cent. When I am free of pills and more flexable I will be higher per cent. I never dreamed to be this far this early in the game. :snork: WOW its great to be alive. Now just get my tummy from acting up and I will have it made. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and some fun. Please everyone do take care and remember you are doing the best you can at this moment. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Today was a special day. I decided each day to drive a little longer than the day before and so I started writing down the miles. I was blown away by the miles I put in. There is a favoite sewing store I love to go to and I decided it would be my goal for today. First did lunch then the store. Remember I live in the West were things are spread out. We don't pay attention to miles but how long it takes to get there. I drove 100 miles today. Couldn't believe it. I had no idea that store was that far from me. WOW My knee were tender but not bad. When I got home; took a pain pill and did a nap. Does this mean I am closer to Recover than I thought? the car drove so cool I didn't even notice all the gas stations I passed to and from. I plan on having the car washed and go for another ride tomarrow. The food place I went to , haven't been for over a year. :yes!: Remember because of all the pain I have been in I haven't been driving hardly at all and my car not working. This new car is :happydance:great to drive. Does this mean I can go to another store that is twice as far? Boy just to think of the freedom is so exciting and freeing. Just to be able to do this was worth having the knee done. Does this mean I am closer to going out of town? I must remember to pace myself. I can't blow it now. Everyone do have a good Sunday and a safe one. Take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

  • Well another big success. I'm no longer keeping my pain medication close to me. I now have a wonderful freedom and now relaxed about going out because I don't need pain medication around the clock. Wow what freedom. My mind is clearing as my system is cleaning itself of the need of pain medication. Yesterday was 10 hours and when i did take one i was sore but not in pain. Which is becoming more in my life. I do believe now that I will be able to have a life free of so much pain medication. I have to admit pain pills are needed but it really bother me to take the amont I needed. Now I am down to 3to 4 a day instead of 2 every 4 hours round the clock without missing a dose. Now I have freedom of using less and less every day. Wow isn't that great. I do have to be careful because of do have conic pain in my feet and in one knee. We will see what is in the future.. The car I drive is very conforable while driving so this help me from being pain free. Two and half years ago I was filled with pain and wondering if this would be the way for the rest of my life. Now two totally knee replacements and a total hip replacement I find having pain free moments moving into longer and longer moments. When the heat is over I plan to start swimming again so I can even be more pain free. I am able to walk without a limp. Now starting to dream of traveling again and going to sewing camps and cruises. I do have to admit that there were times I wondered if it was worth it. Now Yes, Yes ,Yes! It was worth it. My other hip in time might need surgrey but that will come when it comes. For those of you who find the thought of surgies very scary I do understand your fear but when the pain is so bad there is no quality of life I believe you will be brave like many of us and go under the knife. There are no words to tell you of the feeling of freedom I now have and know that more freedom will come in time. This is not a quick fix as you know if you have read the posts. It takes lots of time, work, ice, elevation and yes ,pain pills. You will find lots of surport here and lots of good ideas to get thru the trying times. Yes it does mean that working will be only a dream but as you read many of us do return to it or chose to retire so we can do what we want. It does test you patient in every way, also your feeling of confience. But in the end you win being able to sleep thru the night without pain and being able to do the things you want to do with confiedance. Yes there are things that you now have to do when traveling and that is arrive a little early to get thru the security at the airports and other places that have secuiety machines. But that is a small trade off for the freedom of being yourself. I do know I am not fully in recover yet because I still need some medicane and wake up stiff but it is nothing to compare to what it use to be. Now with two new knees and a hip I can have a life that is fun and well worth it. I will be getting a dog soon and be able to walk thru parks and again seeing Mother Nature in her Best. Live to fullest will be saying. My one knee still needs to get stronger but that nothing compared to what I have been thru. I hope this will give you the courage to have the surgries. I do know they do have risks but in my opion Well worth it. But only you can make that chose. Do join us and write your story and share your fears and I wouldn't be surprised that the fears you have are ones that we had also. Do your homework and make sure you have the best surgen you can have because you are worth it. Do take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

RestAssured This can and will be you in time. I do know you are a having a ruff time but so did I and look what happened. Good luck in your surgrey. Please let me know how things went. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Tashia, I am praying that there won't be another surgery! We are working hard in PT and I am goin to talk to Katie about the Doppler scan that Chris mentioned to see if they can tell exactly what is causing the kneecap to dislocate.

I am praying that all the muscle strengthening we are doing will be just what the knee cap wants! :happydance:
