If I did not have two jobs, both retail, I would be on vacation during the holidays! Get out of Dodge!!!
 
Whether we like the holidays, or not. They can get stressful for sure.
It's easy to feel pulled in many directions.
Keep it simple....all you can do.

But being on vacation you would be enjoying them! I enjoy them but have gotten them to be less stressful each year. Hope hip is doing well today.

Oh well.....there's always next year when those hips are healed and rarin' to go.
 
Hi my 2 Hip Wonder. Hope you aren't getting cabin fever so soon...that energy is directed toward healing all that trauma so try not to steal it away too much.

Yesterday was my first day of depression! Was hoping to skip that! One of those days, things go wrong and there is nothing you can do to fix it on a weekend! Looks like Monday will be spent on the phone!
 
It DOES happen like that. The hurry up and wait for recovery doesn't help
Plus I had the same ecstatic YES I did it...then kind of a crash. Like, OK. Handled all with grace...now time for the breakdown, letdown, post-op blues.
It is an emotional journey.
Try to remember that you did a very brave serious surgery and in my eyes...we are superstars.
Wish you had the TV to distract you.
I didn't sleep much but I would take my meds, ice up on the recliner, close my eyes and listen to the most inane junk on TV...cooking shows, crime stories, whatever to keep my mind off of my anxiety.
Hang in there...most of us have been where you are and we sympathize :console2:

It happens.....it seems to come out of nowhere at times. I could get really down and have a cry
about the silliest thing. Usually laughed about it later on.

Wish you would've visited the forum. Possibly we could have helped you feel a bit better.
Wondering if the quiet of home after being at your moms, coupled with not having the distraction of a tv made it feel worse? Are you still planning to go back to your moms on Monday? Possibly the company will be beneficial until you're a little further along in your recovery. You are in such early days and considering you are healing bi-laterally......THAT IS A LOT! Now I'm going to cry :bawl:

You could have chimed in on our panel discussion re: the various healing properties of ice cream and particular flavors some of us found to be beneficial. It was an intellectual discussion, scientifically based on the Spoon to Mouth Theory.

Hope today feels brighter :SUNsmile: Don't forget we're here to encourage when needed.

Of course things go wrong on weekends. When we live solo it can be frustrating dealing with those things normallly, post surgery its even worse. Sorry you couldn’t skip some depression @Berber7227 -guess you won’t be unique on that front. Hang in there-you’ve come far.
 
Better today! My internet pooped out, they put a MAJOR snowmobile trail by my bedroom window, without permission, my short term disability messed up.... I was so frustrated, as I have to wait until Monday to deal with it. I want it all fixed now!!!
Luckily no way to get ice cream!! Lo
I am so old, I used to go to Ben and Jerry's, when the first opened in the old gas station. They would make different flavors each day. You put your name on the list of your favorite. They would call you when it was made! Living in a Sorority, they called everyday!!!! Way before the internet!!! LOL.
My favorite, chocolate mystic mint! No longer made

At 2 weeks, I was a scared puppy.
Don't ever doubt you can get through all of this.
I think you are doing beautifully.

Did you ever look at the Ben & Jerry's Flavor Graveyard? Good humor....google it if you haven't. Being from their original stomping grounds, old lady (as you called yourself) you may recall a few.
I can say that cuz I have a couple yrs on you :heehee:

@Berber7227 Hugs and commiserations - I hate it when everything goes wonky at the same time!!! No wonder you were feeling down with all that going on!

ICE CREAM! Love Cherry Garcia .... and another favorite is anything made by Talenti - especially their chocolate chip.

And you are NOT old - heck you're a spring chicken compared to me - I'm so old I remember live phone operators you gave the number you wanted to so they could connect you .... first phone # I remember was 1236 :)
 
So with the snow mobile trail-will they pick you up for trips to town if roads are blocked? May be a benefit there. Good luck with getting short term disability cleared up-that really does stink.
 
@djklaugh, I used to pick up the phone and say I wanted to talk to Grandma, and be connected!! The operator lived a couple of houses from me. Would ask my mother what she did, that I had to call Gramma!! Lol
@Layla, been to the flavor graveyard many times. Visitors always want to go!
@Mojo333 , My life has been pure hell for the last 3 years. I actually have had people ask me what I did to deserve what has happened. This is my rock bottom. I have been beaten up so many times, I now just roll with the punches. I have surprised myself on how calm I have been through this latest adventure. No one could believe how calm I was in the hospital! It is,what it is. At this point, if it does not kill you, it makes you stronger. I am going to be Wonder woman!!! Lol
 
@MammaT , in Vermont, we usually are not snowed in! Everyone just goes. Last year, I missed one day of work. Only because my driveway drifted in. Roads were "Vermont" clear! Lol
