Bilateral THR Thing 1 and Thing2'

Me three.....dried up old bags :loll:

I love coconut oil....use for everything. Trick is...use it when skin is really damp..I got huge cooking oil tub of organic. Way cheaper than other emollients.
And if you use it on your elbows it gets rid of those bumpy things...

Daughter-in-law swears by it. I can’t stand coconut-smell or taste.

Breaking up the scenery can help. Glad the three days went well. Driving is liberating. I didn’t do a lot of it at first-but it was nice knowing I could when I wanted/needed to.

Hi Berber7227
Hoping you had a good nights rest :sleep:
I think it's nice you're able to move back and forth in these early days. Especially recovering from
bi-lateral replacement. Obviously you've learned you can do it on your own but it's nice to have someone to
converse with, in person. I'm sure it also comes in handy at times for mom to assist or grab things for you.
I'll bet she's like a live in cook.....prepping and serving you meals. You're going to get spoiled, lol!
Hope you have a great day!

Bed at Mom's is awful! Was so sore had to take pain pills again

That's too bad!
You may just decide shortly that you're more comfy at home.
I hope your pain eases and you get in some nap time today :sleep:
Take Care :console2:

That's right....I forgot! You'll be putting the petal to the metal soon enough.
I think it's nice you have the company and help at your moms. It's still "early days" as they say.
You sure don't seem like much of a whiner or complainer for all you've been through.
Your mom is lucky......or she wears earplugs :heehee:
@Berber7227

I think the breaks you each get Thursday-Monday
will make it tolerable for as long as you need to do it.

I got permission at 3 weeks post op. I was happy since it was my right hip.
I guess I thought my OS would make me wait longer due to it being my right.
You have to be off the heavy meds for sure and I'd advise a trial run making sure you feel comfortable hitting the brake quickly.

Did you look at any other bi-lateral threads, at their 3-4 week recovery point, to see if they were driving? Gaulsuerou, Mojo333, Gretel, Irish Joe....to name a few
@Berber7227

@Layla have not looked at other threads reguarding driving. See OS next week! I was going to practice at home last weekend, but never got there. I am prepared to beg and cry!

@Berber7227 the driving issue .... several factors here - how well can you move your legs/feet through the motions needed for driving, how comfortable are you sitting on car seats, and are you taking narcotic medication during the day (can cause problems with reaction time and muzzy thinking) ... I was not supposed to drive until I saw surgeon after BTHR which was at about 8 weeks (had seen his PA 2x before that for other check ins).... but I snuck in a short drive to the grocery store at about 6 weeks because I was having a serious episode of cabin fever and needed some things others could not get for me .... like $$$ from my bank. I did fine with that - only drove about 2 miles all told .... but I was exhausted when I got home.

You might try sitting in the car behind the wheel - don't start it - and try shifting your feet through the motions needed - automatic transmission probably would be easier than standard.

My os gave me the go ahead to drive at 6 weeks post op check up. Drove that day manual gears no problems. Try take one day at a time. You will be up and about in no time. T
