Bilateral THR Thing 1 and Thing2'

I am on 1-2 oxy every 4 hours. Been taking 2, lasts about 2 hours. Next 2 hours spent in lots of pain, watching clock. Laying down, legs elevated, with ice. Any ideas for relief?

Oxy and me are NOT friends ....

PT went well! We came to a compromise! Was gone 5 hours, shopping, lunch, PT....Sore, but not in extreme pain!! Resting before I finish the garage cleaning and getting the car in. They are calling for 7-13" of snow over the next two days!
I now am using a cane inside, both crutches outside in the snow and ice!
Lucky day! Lunch special was chicken and biscuits! I could eat that every day!

Either you are Superperson, or your surgical team does magic, but this is the most activity I’ve heard of in a double knee replacement I’ve ever heard of!?

Do you see how nice everyone is being about you doing too much.
Now KNOCK it OFF. You are making me a nervous wreck. What doesn't get done this year will get done next year.
You want those stems in your legs to get some bone growing around them and keep extra weight, like moving stuff, off of them.
Want to do this all over because you can't be bored for a while?
I'll be the bad guy...don't make me come find you. I don't like snow.
You are a new double hippy superstar, and I care.
So BEHAVE.
Too much too soon.:no-fin:

Consider yourself duly ticked off LOL

I will try harder to do nothing! I see things that need to be done, I try to do it, if it does not hurt, I continue on. Just need to wrap gifts today!!

@AnnieC I had a great surgeon! I have been on my own for awhile, just keep going. If this had happened last year, it would have been a different outcome. Everyone is amazed at how well I am handling this. I still can't believe I was not nervous, or scared of surgery! I quess if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger!!

Your THANGS are behaving wonderfully well. Counting of blessings would seem appropriate, I’d say [emoji56]

:hi: @Berber7227
Thinking you know by now I like to kid you. Only because I see your sense of humor.
I admire your strength and determination. It's truly inspiring. Aside from your few expressions of Ouch, I overdid it....it's hard to believe you experienced BTHR. I know we give a lot of unsolicited cautionary advice :old: but it's only because we care, understanding firsthand what you're going through. On second thought....let's say only 1/2 of what you're going through for most of us single hippies :heehee:
I'm happy to hear you're having a "chill" day wrapping presents :box: You need and deserve one.
Hope you are warm, cozy and snug as a bug in a rug!
Hugs :reindeersleigh

@Layla this was my first, cut me open, surgery! I have nothing to compare it to! I worry, I am doing so well, will I crash? Infection? Fall? Just when everything seems to be going well, I get blindsided!

My first surgery too @Berber7227 so I get it. Same concerns as you.
Keep doing what you're doing. You're doing it well. Just don't overdue.
We can't live in fear of all the "what if's". It's no way to live. It steals your joy.
IF life decides to throw us a curve, we'll have to deal with it just like we did our
deteriorating hips.

While falling is a concern for everyone, it is especially so for us who have to
navigate sidewalks and parking lots that are like skating rinks this time of year.
Is it about time for a break from your present wrapping to have a hot chocolate?
I'm cleaning today...Ugh...while listening to an old Rod Stewart Christmas cd that I love and burning a Fresh Balsam scented candle.....Life Is Good!

Congratulations on your new hips! I had my right hip 2 weeks ago. Anterior. I hope you recover quickly. Enjoy vegging out in front of the tv. I’m home and my hubby keeps putting on the news and weather that I never watch. I’ve become fascinated by all the women on tv wearing false lashes! You know it’s epidemic when the preop instructions included not to wear them the day of surgery!! Anyway, good luck. I have a friend who had bilateral hip replacement and she is amazing. She leads nature hikes and walks miles..no limp. No pain.

Wrapping presents is totally acceptable @Berber7227. Of course, i’m assuming it’s relatively small (although I wonder with you) and you can sit down while doing it. I also find wrapping to be boring, so maybe it will get you set up for a nap! How’s the snow?

@MammaT wrapping is boring! Ended up making ornaments for my daughter. I make black and white sheep ornaments. DD wanted rainbow ones. Thirteen done, had materials left over, so starting another batch. So far about six to eight inches of snow

You are doing well...just trying to make ME a nervous wreck.
Just try to remember to rest SOMETIMES, your body needs that energy to get that deep healing done.
You are doing wonderfully...hope you have a wonderful week!

Ornaments sound really cute. We got a good dusting of snow. Glad you found some less physical things to keep you occupied but still give you a sense of accomplishment. Crafting is relaxing.

I've always heard leg crossing isn't advised. I don't cross mine.
Crossing at the ankle is about as tangled as I care to get....at least for now.

@Layla crossing my ankles is bringing sorrow to Thing 1 and Thing 2!
