Re: The Story of My Knees

Well, I'm glad you figured that out! What a scare that was.
Yes Josephine, unfortunately I still have to be on the lookout for the little "beasties!"

It seems that even though I have been cured in my knee, I never had the chance to go through Dr. Maale's treatment. I might be able to still go through it. We will see when I go on January 4th.

Re: The Story of My Knees

Sonja, what exactly would his treatment do for you then, if the infection has gone?

Sometimes I just lose my mind! He really can't do anything for me since the infection is gone!:th_heehee:

Yesterday, I almost fell!:th_blush: I was between the coffee table and the couch, and I tripped on the leg of the coffee table. All of the sudden, the skills that the PTs have been working with me about side stepping came into play except I was crossing over each leg!:rolf: It is funny now, but at that time it wasn't near as funny!

The only thing that came out of it was my right knee is extremely unstable yet again! I got up today and the knee gave way on me. It is wobbly in all directions although not to terribly painful.

Re: The Story of My Knees

Oh dear! I hope it settles down soon.

Re: The Story of My Knees

Close call, Sonja!!! Kudos for that PT training!! Your knee is still weak so just be sure to baby it extra for a while. And no more tripping!!!!:whis:

I went to PT today and they said that my knee was looking much better! I am still having problems with pain and stability but I know I will push through!:snk: Remember the song, I am strong, I am invincible, I am Woman! Well bring on the PT and let's get ready for my CRUISE!:th_yahoo: I will be ready!

Re: The Story of My Knees

Happy New Year Everyone!

This year is going to be one of the best for me! My right knee is continuing to improve, and I am starting to feel so much better. Life is great and I have a strong resolve to find a job that will fit my calling in life. I taught 7th grade for 20 years, but I think I want to do something else now.

I hope everyone has a happy new year, and that it continues throughout 2011!:snk:

Re: The Story of My Knees

Sonja....I have no doubt that the right job will appear for you when the time is right. You have much to give to the world and I believe your angels will take care of you. Keep your heart open to any and all possibilities that may come your way. Sometimes you just never know what waits around the corner.

Re: The Story of My Knees

I'm fairly new on the forum, and have been pretty self-absorbed with my little roller coaster, so I just today got around to scanning some of your thread and see that you are a champion marathoner and I'm sure have withstood many, many tests of patience not to mention medical tests and procedures. As you point out, 2011 looks like a great one for you. :egdnc: Best of luck!

Re: The Story of My Knees

Hello Everyone!

I am anxious to see my OS specialist in Dallas on Tuesday. I still have the lump on the side of my knee that nobody can figure out. Sometimes it is as hard as a rock, and sometimes it is soft and squishy. It is driving me crazy and I want it to go away!

I will see the infection specialist on Wednesday, and I am going to see if they have sent the referral for Jenny's Mom on to Dr. Maale!

Re: The Story of My Knees

Sounds like you'll have lots of news for us, Sonja!!

Re: The Story of My Knees

I sure hope I have a lot of news when I get back Jamie! I am excited to find out what Dr. Maale is thinking. I have lost 12 more pounds since I last saw him!:th_yahoo:

Re: The Story of My Knees

Good for you, Sonja!!! He just may not recognize you :th_yay:

Re: The Story of My Knees

Jamie, I don't think he could ever forget what I look like!:th_heehee:

He has seen me so much, (probably even in his nightmares:th_heehee:)
that there is no way he could forget me.

I am having trouble with my kneecap still not wanting to track. I could not get out of bed without "fixing" it . I had my hubby come and adjust it for me!

Re: The Story of My Knees

That will be good to discuss with him, Sonja. I look forward to hearing about your appointment.

Re: The Story of My Knees

Jamie, you are not going to believe the news I got from Dr. Maale yesterday!:th_skeptical:

I went in and got x-rays, and then went in to the room to wait for him. The nurse came in and informed me that I needed to have my pants legs lifted so he wouldn't have to take so much time in the room!:th_hate-shocked:
Then in walks Dr. Maale. I asked him if he was feeling better from his neck fusion surgery and he informed me that this was the 1st day he had been without his brace and he was hurting!:th_skeptical:

Well, then he proceeds to look at my knees, and he touches the right knee and it is a little warmer than the left. He then proclaims that my right leg might not be salvageable. :th_2hissy1:

To think 2 months ago, this "Dr." told me I was infection free, and then without looking at anything except my leg which is getting better, makes me furious! I am switching to Dr. Casas and I have already seen him once and really liked him.

I have already contacted Jennifer and told her to switch to Dr. Casas.

I am truly miffed right now! I do know that I won't see him again!

Re: The Story of My Knees

That's horrible that he would say that to you without any thought, Sonja! I've seen a lot of surgeons in my time and sometimes they just forget all about bedside manners if they are having a bad day. Hopefully that is all it was and that you will be fine.

Re: The Story of My Knees

Karen is right. Although his behavior was horrible and there is no excuse.....it may be a factor of HIS pain levels. Did you question him at all as to why he would say that? Was that the end of his discussion with you???

If you didn't get any more information, make a list of questions to take with you when you see Dr. Casas again. You need real answers!!

Re: The Story of My Knees

Wow! He must have missed his class on bedside manners. I thought you said he was a really nice chap when you first saw him?

Re: The Story of My Knees

Sonja that is just devastating and cruel of him. I would seek the opinion of the other doctor too.

Best of luck with the other one and I surely pray things will get better for you very soon.
