Planning a weekend of strenuous riding - strenuous for my present condition, that is. Plans include riding at Tyler State Park Saturday, and then a trip to the gym. Sunday it's a 20 mile ride around Lake Nockamixon. Chris will be with me for both rides. The trip round 'the Nock' will be tough.... I rode past it on a tour in 2007 and I recall the climb on Mountain View Road as the sort of thing that puts hair on your chest.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the US, and while many people are enjoying the holiday unfortunately I am working.

Wish you well with riding this week end, looks like its indoor bike and baths for me i dont fancy riding in snow.Where i usually ride there is still a lot of water coming of fields so with this cold weather as well roads are icy.Might have to go to some parks if keeps up but i prefer road riding. Will have a look on google what nockamixon looks like. good riding to you both.

Neil!
Here's a little funny for you:

OK, for four days now I've had a stiffness and an odd feeling like something was stuck under the kneecap of my left knee. I've babied it, not doing any exercise. Now, it has been cold, and it rained from Sunday through Thursday, but still, I'm concerned. It feels much like it did in 2010, when my joints went into their death spiral - the difference being there's little or no pain now. I'm wearing new shoes, so its not caused by old wear patterns. I do have flattish feet, and probably need some arch supports, but still....

Might just be the cold went swimming today pool not as warm as usual and knee seemed to stiffen up,now home and plenty of snow outside and knee still feels slightly stiff.Hope you can get out at week end it may help knee riding bike. What tips aside from stop eating have you got for 14 pound loss only way that would happen to me is if i lose my wallet ,in uk money is in pounds, good for you.

Thats one thing about UK all my tkr cost was nhs contributions which are in my taxes, so cost zero. Also the cost of my house in north would probably not buy a house in USA.How is my punctuation and caps now some people are picky, sorry.

Actually, this is much easier to read. I also find it a difficult to read your posts. It's more work because my brain has to insert the proper punctuation as I read. But I can get through a short post!

Sorry to everyone when i type i am looking at keyboard,so do not see text till done.I will try and improve and will slap my hand.Old miners what can you do with them my wife has been trying a lot of years, and now grandkids are trying ,at moment i get a lot of GRANDAD ?or grandad your a nunkey nose.Enough of this just looked out and our hill is blocked with snow no cars up or down where is my sun must look for holiday to canaries.

Down fifteen pounds. I'm now back to where I was when I went under the knife ten months ago. Now to get back to 240.....

We had a bit of a problem on the ride Saturday. Chris, the now 429 pound friend riding with me, had his heart rate shoot up as he tried to ride up a climb in the park. I sat with him for about 20 minutes to make sure his heart stopped racing, and decided to end the ride at that point. We rolled back downhill and I made made sure he walked up rises by dismounting and walking myself. We finished with six miles.

The 20 mile ride around Lake Nockamixon is now postponed until Chris is in better shape.

For what it's worth I had trouble with the climbs today too.

Good for you 6 miles is better than none and its no use overdoing it and putting you back weeks.Still can not get out on bike so indoor today,

Six miles sounds awesome to me...I know you are in process of conditioning for a longer ride and you may have to plan some rides without Chris where you can push yourself a bit more...but bravo for being such a supportive friend.

I will. Chris is going to do some longer solo rides as he gets close to the big event, and I'll be riding some solo stuff and with other riders. But for now it benefits both of us riding together. I'm not in much better shape than he is.

Also, he got me riding again. I can't say "thank you" enough....

Is Chris taking on this under the advisement of his doctor? I would want to know his doctor has cleared him to attempt this sort of riding and exercise, to be safe.

Congrats on the 15 lb weight lose Historian! :thumb: Did Chris need to go to the hospital to get checked out? You are a good buddy, and a very caring person!
