It maybe only 3:30 on Thursday morning but I've just slept for four hours! Brilliant! Just waiting for my next capsule of happiness.

Thanks all for your comments, suggestions and advice. They make the "wee small hours" much better.

Montysmum, I am booked to stay in here until Sunday - 5 nights in total - but last time I was out in 3. I'll see Mr Kelly later and see what his thoughts are.

Although hip No2 was more of a challenge, you seem to be doing really well.

Did you know it was going to be more difficult beforehand?

Anyway, you're all done now and no more thinking about the op.

I'm quite envious!

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

No, I'd no idea that it was going to be any worse. Just as well really, I was bottling it enough already. It is a much more difficult and painful recovery this time but God knows where I'd be if I hadn't got it done.

Today will be better then yesterday (and repeat)

Cappy your positive attitude is going to see you through again. Hope you are getting some rest!

My physio is very pleased with my progress. I'm off the walker and onto elbow crutches. Showered and in day clothes and my cannula has been removed. All good news.

If I get kept in after tomorrow it will be for pain management. Like most hippies I have developed a high pain tolerance but I'm struggling. Getting better though.

Have been sat up all morning but it's back to bed after my next round of physio. Anyway, lunch!

Hang in there everyone.

Cappy it's important to get that pain under control before you leave hospital. Don't be afraid of staying until they get it right.

Sounds like you are on the right track - up and about. No jogging now! :th_heehee:

Wow, impressive Cappy! But, do you think they have you on the right pain meds this time? Sometimes when we build up a tolerance, a different medication works better, at least it did for me.

You may even need a combo of two, as this was a more complicated surgery. No matter, if you ask, you may get more or a reason why not. In any event, I agree with Jaycey. Make sure you are ok with the pain level before you leave.

Sounds like you're doing remarkably well for all you've gone through in four months. Way to go Cap :cat-kittyandsmiley: !

My surgeon has just visited to say that my X-ray looks good. There was a 2cm lip of bone growth that had to be chiseled away around the socket. In his words, I didn't really have a hip.

He is happy for me to go home tomorrow, providing my pain meds are OK. The physio has also signed me off so it's up to me and the nursing staff to decide. I'll see how tonight goes.

I cannot take aspirin as I have a stomach bleed so I have 6 weeks of clexane injections in front of me. Oh joy.

You're doing good Cappy, and always such a positive attitude. Enjoy going home, but really take it easy. Now who will be giving you the shots for 6 weeks, your wife?:th_heehee: Good luck with your recovery.

Good progress Cappy. :thumb:
But please listen to Jaycey and make sure you get those pain meds totally sorted before you leave the hospital, especially with the weekend coming up.

Oh yes, and I hope you enjoyed your lunch (and by now I should think your evening meal ).

Hi Cappy

Great to hear your are doing fine and that's it over with now, you know the script now just relax and let the healing begin. :thumb:

Lunch & dinner were lovely Suzie - the food is excellent here.

Renate, I think I will administer my own injections - Donna's not very comfortable with that kind of thing!

Jaycey et al, I will make sure my meds are OK. They are giving me Tramadol tonight rather than Oxyterm and we'll review the pain in the morning. I am keen to get home but won't be going until I'm happy everything's OK.

Hmmm...may be strong enough for you, but sure not for me that soon :skeptical:...

But, to each his own! I have a high tolerance to pain meds, so you can't go by me.

I also so enjoyed the "catered" meals while in the hospital. Felt like I was at a resort :thumb:!

Sleep well, Cap...:sleepz:

Janet, I'm not convinced about Tramadol either - I was swallowing them like sweeties pre op. But it's been made very clear that it's my decision if I go tomorrow - they're not chucking me out. So, I'll give it a go tonight and see how I feel in the morning.

That's a question I'll be asking this morning Janet. I'm not sure what's available between Tramadol / Solpadol and the drugs that they bring with a drum roll.

I think that I'm going to get Tramadol and solpadol together as each one individually isn't quite enough.

I had an OK sleep but haven't had a bowel movement since my op. I want that addressed too.
