Good to hear things have improved Cappy hopefully things will only get better now.

I am currently sitting in St James Park in London having been allowed out of Scotland for a day. Have just been to the palace for breakfast! **

Apologies to @Josephine: if this is a gazillion pixels!

The real reason for this post is that a year ago I couldn't have done it. I'm choosing to walk rather than take the bus or tube. So all those in the early stages of recovery or still in the pre op area, there is life after THR. Best thing I've ever done!

** The palace is a greasy spoon cafe near Victoria.

Oh boy - you look very sinister! But congrats on the journey. That's some accomplishment! :thumb:

Oddly enough Jaycey, Bumpa and I were all in London about the same time this morning not more than a couple of miles away!
What a shame we couldn't meet up.

Cappy you should have said. We could have met and given you a real royal welcome to London!

Sorry the weather didn't cooperate with you visit. But congrats on the journey. Another chance to see just how far you have come. Well done!

You look very serious in the photo - I would have expected a big smile 'cos you are doing so well!

Although I'm a few months behind you, I absolutely agree that the short term pain (post surgery) is far outweighed by the long term gain. :thumb:

Cappy

I couldn't agree with you more. I am a few months behind you for No2 but without sounding too melodramatic it is life changing.

Did they have any vacancies in the hostel you are standing in front of?

Cappy,

I agree with the folks above...you are looking like a very serious secret agent type...very Interpol or MI5!

(Sorry...I have no idea what those folks look like, but those were the only organizations that I can name that might be of the Secret agent type.)

Very glad to hear that you are liking your new hips. We're so lucky that they keep advancing this technology.

Hostel dave Lol

Though that was you behind bars for good behaviour Cappy :th_heehee: maybe the natives thought Grant Mitchell had escaped.:snork:
Glad to hear everything is going great Cappy take care.

Billy

So nice to see you out and about! Happy for you!

I'm really a bit surprised that no one has pointed out the resemblance to Daniel Craig

I always look a bit grim in photos that I'm taking of myself! Perhaps I should post the one taken about 12 hours later in the Souk Medina in Covent Graden of me being shown how to belly dance. Or perhaps I shouldn't.

I agree-very serious there. So to even it out you would most definitely need to post the belly dancing picture:biggrin:

I also think the belly dancing photo would prove most interesting ; )

I thought I should check in and say hello!

My first replacement is almost a year old - can't believe it! I still struggle with some things - I can't cross my legs and I can't use the rower in the gym because I can't reach the "oars". But I'm a gazillion times better than I was pre-op.

I still have to be careful that I don't overdo it. I've been sore and had a bit of a limp the last couple of days. I think it was excess activity in the gym - now there's a sentence I didn't think I'd be writing :-)

Congrats on your 1 year (almost) anniversary! Isn't it great? And, in the bigger scheme of things it really isn't too important to cross the legs or row on a rowing machine...just think of all the things you are able to do now...pain free.

Know what you mean about sometimes overdoing...still happens. All the best to you Cappy.

Hi Cappie

Couldn't agree more about the great benefits of the surgery. Compared to pre-op, I feel like a different person (but still a bit unfit). However, I'm following the rule about not overdoing it!

I did warn you that a gym is a dangerous place - see Post #504. :th_heehee:

Hi Cappy how quick one year goes by, I haven't exactly been attending the gym since my op and my trips to the wimming pool have just about become non exintent.
Mainly because my client group changed and they are now on the other side of the town from the pool. I am not eactly your attend gym on a regular basis kind of guy and if I am keen to lose weight I count the calorie intake rather than the exercise.
When you say cross your legs do you mean when lying in bed

Billy

Hi cappy, fantastic, life is returning to normal. Please go careful in the gym though.

Big hugs xxxx

All in good time, Cappy. You're still a babby at this yet! Good to hear from you though.

Hi Billy, how are you?

No, I mean the kind of figure of 4 leg crossing when sitting.

I do wonder if you ever stop worrying about the replacement. I have had pain in my right leg for a few days - buttock, hamstring and knee. Now most of me wants to just put it down to the gym or walking or something, but there's a part of me wants to get x-ray, MRI, sonar and radar or whatever else they can come up with to prove that my leg's not going to fall off. Pathetic really.

Hi Cappy !!!

I know the feeling, boy do I know the feeling. I like the idea of sonar and radar for sure. :th_heehee:

I had that Epidural Steroid Injection for sciatic issue last Wednesday and not an ounce of relief from it. Still have immense sciatic pain and numbness in leg/hamstring area. Like you, I just hope all is always fine with the hip itself.

Keep us informed.
