I am curious, what is haggis, neeps and tatties please?

Haggis is - well it's Haggis. Neeps are turnips and tatties are potatoes. All served to celebrate Burns Night - the birthday of the poet Robert Burns. Actually very delicious - but a very heavy meal (for me anyway).

A typical Burns supper is extremely carb heavy. This is from last night's dinner.

Haggis followed by steak pie followed by apple pie! Washed down with uisge beatha - the water of life!

300x240pixels, Cappy? Got a magnifying glass? At least twice that would have been better!

Are you feeling any better Cappy? I don't know how I missed your posts lately. I guess by being caught up in my own pain and problems. I was off for a few weeks feeling really under the weather and don't know how I missed your thread!

In any event, very impressive before and after pics! How were you ever getting around with those hips? They look like one piece! I sure hope things are improving for you.

XOX

Sounds like you had a good night though Cappy.. I read up a little about the tradition of the Burns night. We have a Burns Club in our City and we have often gone there for dinner (on a normal night of course)..

Love the expression - water of life :)

How did your hips hold up?

How did your hips hold up?

It was a great night Sandy. I didn't really think about my hips at all!

It was an evening of good food and good company. Yesterday was a bit of a write off though

I'm doing well thanks Janet. It has been pointed out several times that I didn't really have proper hips. Whatever discomfort I have to put up with now is nothing in comparison.

I'm plugging away at the gym and flexibility is improving. I suppose that I was decades getting as bad as I was, now I want perfection in 6 months! :snork:

I do hope that you will be getting some relief soon; it's been a real trial for you.

Oh that's better - thank you! At a conference I attended in Edinburgh a couple of years back we had haggis, the pipers and all that jazz. Loved every minute of it and especially the haggis! Yumyum!

My hubby's family are Scottish (McCabe's) but we won't be having haggis......having the neeps and tatties for dinner tonight but with a roast ham.

You're always upto something fun!

We had haggis last night - but with peas instead of the neeps. DD1 had a ton of tomato ketchup on hers - Rabbie Burns was probably spinning in his grave :hissyfit:

Isn't haggis a bit similar to black pudding here in the north?

Sorry Cappy but ugh!!! to both!

Don't mind the neeps and tatties though.

A question for you wise people.

For the last couple of days my right leg (THR was last April) has felt a bit "odd". I have vague pins and needles from my knee down and my ankle is sore to the touch.

Now I have been working hard in the gym and trying to improve my ROM. I'm happy to "suffer" slight discomfort as long as I'm not doing any harm but has anyone any thoughts on this.

Tagging @Josephine: for her advice.

As long as it continues to be vague and doesn't evolve into anything more significant, I wouldn't worry about it.

It would sound to me to be the result of that "hard work" at the gym. You might want to take it easy for a bit and maybe try some ibuprofen and/or acetaminophen for a few days.

My right leg still feels a bit odd. I'm still getting pins and needles in my calf and foot and my foot also feels a bit cold sometimes. I think I may have a circulation problem. Ho hum.

Anyway, tonight we're off to broken link removed: https://www.greasethemusical.co.uk/

♫ ♫ You're the one that I want ♫ ♫

Cappy I have this symptom all the time and it's sciatica. Have you by chance been using a rowing machine? If so (just a suggestion) back off of it for a few days and see if things improve.
