Hi haldox, what stretches do you do?

I have been doing IT exercises such as marching bridge and have found a bit improvement in the last couple of weeks!

Yep bridge is good too. I do the stretches found in the Library articles here and here. I like the 1st one a lot, but I have to really slide that back leg out to get a good stretch.

Gosh - one year already! Happy Birthday to your hip! :dancy:

Afternoon all,

For anyone wondering if they're doing the right thing going for surgery:

A year ago today at around this time I was heading down to theatre for my first THR. I was a bit nervous but glad the waiting was over.

Things I can do now:

Walk
Cycle
Sleep properly
Tie my shoelaces
Cut my toenails
Go for weeks without pain medication
Etc
Etc

Things I can't do:

Play the piano

Seriously, I am so pleased and grateful that I have had my surgery. It is a new lease of life and my only regret is that I didn't get it sooner - but that's not for this post!

So, if you have any doubts at all, put them to the back of your mind and, as someone might have said before, Just Do It!

Thanks haldox. I guess I've learned the hard way to keep at the stretches! I'm feeling much better now and my flexibility is better than it's ever been.

Hi Cappy, just a quick line to congratulate you on your one year anniversary. What, you can't play the piano with your toes?? :hysterical: I'd have thought that would be the first skill you'd master now you've got shiny new hips, ha ha!

No, seriously, it's really great to hear from someone who's way down the road ahead of me, to know that life does finally get back to normal.

Cheers, and keep the good news coming!

Cappy....happy first hip birthday!!! It was great to read all the things you can do now!

Maybe you'll be able to play the piano by your second anniversary.:hysterical:

Congratulations Cappy on your first aniversary.

I followed your progress particularly in relation to having both hips replaced. Its good to hear of your achievements.

Was "doing the full monty" amongst them as you promised in a previous post last year? I certainly hope not!

All the best

Dave

Oh no!

Did I miss Your first anniversary Cappy.....

Congratulations :)

Boo!

Just thought I'd drop in and see how my Bonesmart cronies are doing.

Well, by the sounds of it!

I'm doing well. I've bought a road bike and am cycling for the first time in years. Gym 5 times a week and cycling at the weekend. Managing to lose the lard too - at last.

What a difference this surgery makes - a new lease of life right enough!

Hey Cappy - great to see you here. And even better that you are really out there doing it all again. Well done!

Congratulations Cappy! I'm new with a new hip and it's wonderful to hear how well you are doing! Thanks for the inspiration! :yay:

Hi Cappy! Haven't been on in awhile but I'm happy to read how well you are doing! I've ridden a bike once so far, but I had a difficult time getting on and off of it if I didn't pull up to a wall or something to lean on for support. That was a while back now and I should probably try it again :bicycle1: Thanks for the inspiration and I'm so happy that you are doing so well!

Just back from a gentle 8 mile cycle. I keep thinking of the things that I couldn't do before this surgery - there were many - and how good I feel now.

My surgeon told me that after a year I would have made all the improvements that I was going to. Well, I'm still pushing myself more and more and am achieving more so I'm not going to put a time limit on anything.

Hope you're all well!

Hello Cappy, great to hear from you and such a good update. Where did you ride? In the countryside?

My surgeon told me that after a year I would have made all the improvements that I was going to.

I don't think anyone on this forum would agree with your surgeon Cappy. Things just keep getting better. Long may it continue!
