Thanks Janet.

A question for you other time served hipsters out there. I am finding that, although my surgery and follow up have gone better than I could have dreamt, I do not have the same "joie de vivre" that I had before surgery.

Has anyone else found that?

YEP !! But of course I have other issues.... I just don't feel lively yet, still some stiffness, but over all the hips feel great. The hips !!! Not the muscles on my left side. My hip/rear end/back are in awful pain. Will see what goes on with that and next the knees will get done.

But I know what you are saying....I hope I have it one day.

Hi Cappy

Maybe it's just the weather - SAD syndrome 'n all that (Seasonally Affected Disorder). It's been pretty awful up your way lately, by all accounts.

Seriously though, you may have a point. Once things start going wrong health-wise I think we realise we are no longer immortal, like we thought we were for the first 50 years. I know after my heart scare a few years ago I have never felt quite the same about life! That said, there is still plenty to be thankful for and to enjoy, although maybe not at the same pace we once enjoyed things.

It is always good to have something to look forward to - the first hip op, the good recovery, the second op and removal of all restrictions etc. Maybe you need to book a holiday or something else to look forward to now, rather than just be facing 4 months of winter and work. Just the thought of winter sunshine and sand in the toes has kept me positive for the last few weeks, I can tell you. :thumb:

I don't think that's anything to do with the surgery, Cappy. I feel like that too these days. I blame this miserable weather.

Hang in there Cappy and what about hurricane [ bawbag :th_heehee:] or so they were calling it on radio.
I am about ten months in and still get the stiff back but it is easing off slightly, I feel I am starting to climb stairs slightly better now as well.
I know one thing for sure I wouldn't swap places to what my condition was like before my op thats for sure.:thumb:

Billy

Hi Billy,

Aye the weather's been a bit "mixed" of late, hasn't it?

I wouldn't swap for all the tea in China! I'm making slight improvements week by week and I reckon I'm probably where I was about 15 years ago. Hey, maybe I'm getting younger!

Merry Christmas, Cappy! Hope you are out enjoying your new hips :thumb:

Hope you had a great Christmas cappy loads of curried turkey then.:th_heehee:

Thanks guys, I had a great time - hope you did too.

No curry yet Billy - maybe today!

I did get this for Christmas - don't know what they mean!

Showed it to her indoors and promised to get her one funny that she didn't find it the least bit amusing. :loll:

I know that there are still over 7 hours of Hogmanay to go but I just thought I'd take the opportunity to say to one and all:

Lang may yer lum reek !!

Hey Cappy, you and Billy make me laugh too! I hadn't got a clue what lum and reek were but I looked them up, and this is the second line apparently:

Wi' ither folks coal!

Happy Hogmanay all you mad Scots!!

Cappy

Had to look up what the saying meant!

Good health and Happy New Year to you.

Dave
